I could be wrong but I don't believe pintle chain spreaders are offered with reverse mode, at least ones I've ran. I believe reverse mode is more or less designed and featured in auger systems that tend to jam up more as a saftey feature from burning up the motor.
i have one fisher sander which is the same as western, works great with fine material , is a pain when codes pop up , also have a few Air flo electric sanders, much better than fisher , no codes to deal with, goes in reverse if blocked ,
