Matt...The fact your out ripping in your new Porsche in the Rain with no wipers is a massive step forward in your journey surely to being able to drive where and when you want again!!
Reminds me of the time I broke my wiper arm two years ago and relied on Bead Maker during the late winter months, lol. It is beautiful to see you come full circle and enjoy the simple things in life and thrilled with the driving experience with something less advanced than what you are used to. I believe the GTS is definitely a better fit for visitors but more importantly give future drivers an introduction to the Porsche family of cars, which I find rather important.
Think you made the best decision on this one Matty! The GTS is the PERFECT mountain car, and the renters are extremely lucky to be able to experience that.
the cyaman series of cars are really special cars. Yes they're not as fast or powerful as the GT3 or 911 but cayman cars have an emphasis on balance, agility and overall driving dynamics.
Good seeing you out driving Matt , I did a St. Petersburg drive from Cleveland Ohio and was going to stop at OG , but I got nervous so maybe next trip I make haha, Love driving, I’ll go anywhere one thing I wont let anyone take from me.
Really enjoy your videos about this car. At my dealer allocation wasn’t really an issue and I really wanted a GT4 RS but couldn’t justify that kind of money for a daily driver so I ended up ordering a GTS 4.0 in almost the same trim as yours.
I’d wager the Porsche engineers aren’t the people that came up with goofy break in procedures. Why is it 1,000 miles? Why not 900. How about 2500? You mean to tell me that at 1001 miles there is something different about the car that makes it now broken in?
Maybe, just maybe this should be the OG beater. Its not much more than the EVO and its something you love but could replace. I can understand the feeling of waiting for an allocation, building exactly what you want, making it perfect and wanting it to stay that way. OG should just do a 24 month lease on a GTS, you drive it for year one, it goes to helen for year two and then you return it.
Matt, you probably won’t read this, but I honestly think that you would love the 992 Carrera T. All the power you need for an awesome daily driver. Can option the car with manual, buckets, Burmester. T is about to disappear with the upcoming 992.2 Hybrid, so might be a good investment as well..
You can now get carbon ceramics on this Cayman GTS, direct from the factory. You should definitely get a white 992.2 Carrera S or this same GTS in manual Matt, if you feel happier driving a non-GT car around.
@@ObsessedGaragesure, but surely still sounds better than another daily you might use like your Rivian or EVO 8? If you don’t want to daily a GT3, then it’s either Cayman GTS or something else?
Would like to hear more on your decision/opinion about not doing breakins, just curious. Perhaps something you've dove into deeper on one of the wash and talks?
Matt. You can go to neutral by pulling both paddles simultaneously. I believe you cannot go back to gear with the car moving. Have to be stopped. Kinda wonky and guessing there to rev the engine maybe. 🤔
@Matt, I noted you didn't plug the holes when you disconnected the vacuum lines. Have you gotten any alerts/errors? I'm curious about what issues might occur if I force the valves open at startup and perform the same vacuum line disconnect with the OEM link and exhaust.
Cool to hear your driving is getting better man! In my 992 911 GTS I can pull the paddles and be in neutral. Not sure exactly what PDK i have honestly. Lol. Love the GTS level of these cars. For the same reasons you mention. Love the white and black spec on your car
Great to see you back driving Matt and loving the 4.0. I can confirm that if you pull the 2 paddles the gearbox goes into neutral. Have a look at the Zunsport grilles if the Rennline ones aren’t to your liking. Have you seen the Ninemeister GT4RS style exhaust tips? Still made from titanium but a fraction of the $3k from PORSCHE at $850. Well worth a look in their shop. More videos on the GTS and Brewster please.
Dundon doesn't make a very compelling exhaust for the 718 variant. Kline and JCR are the most common catback systems because they have an x-pipe design that gives the car a much closer sound to a GT3. Stock 718s and even those with just OAP replacements sound like trash (IMO and relatively speaking) because they don't combine exhaust banks for that high-pitched wail. Instead, it sounds like two 3-cylinders because each cylinder bank essentially has its own exhaust in the stock muffler configuration. I went with the Kline stainless system on my 718 GT4 and it transformed the exhaust tone to be much more GT3-like.
Matt you should totally get a 992 for everyday. The 9A2 evo turbo cars sound great, are more modifiable than the GT cars and make perfect everyday drivers.
Lovely car Matt! Probably a better road car than your GT cars. You should definitely get one as a Florida daily - especially since Porsche will stop production of the ICE Cayman at some point, and go electric only! Check out the White Collection Porsches being sold by RM Sotheby’s!
Matt, you should consider an option of letting people just “Rent” the car without the house. I think your 1500 per week is reasonable and I would be interested for example, and would be more than happy to wash it to OG spec, but the house is over the top for me. Not sure if logistically it could work, but just food for thought. Hope your ideas work out and you find lots of like-minded and wealthy ‘customers’. Cheers.
The car seems to be really amazing. I always looked at GT4s, but I guess with this being 90% of that at a lot less money, you could get a OG M2 or something like that as a "beater" and the GTS 4.0 for nice driving. Really useful video. The metrics where a GT4 would really be better are at a track or really high speeds. A very interesting car would have been a 992 Carrera T with this 4.0 400hp engine. For the guys who want pure driving, na engine seat delete etc, but can't get the GT3 yet.

@@ObsessedGarage I didn't hear anything with your GTS, it was quiet. I was just asking if there is a way to make it do that popping which I would like my GTS to do.
The Kline system sounds better than this, more high pitched as it has an X pipe. This sounds like duelling 3 cylinders because the banks are not mixed. I have the Kline on my GT4, it’s legit.
hey matt, loving that your driving is improving. separately, im looking at a GTS for me in 2024 as part of my progression. if you could be happy with one i think i could be happy with it as my first porsche, its time to ascend into the porsche community.
I didn't know that the GTS 4.0 and GT 4 have different PDKs. Could you maybe explain to me what's the difference between the two? I want to buy either a GTS or a GT 4 but I'm undecided yet. The GT 4 is cooler but I have the option of configuring a GTS 4.0 to my likes so I'm not sure. Also maybe the spoiler is a bit too over the top for me 😂
The engine in the GTS 4.0 is not related to GT cars (GT3/4). The boxer engine is based on the same engine family as the engines in the current 911 Carrera model range. It is a bored out version of the 3.0 turbo Carrera engine.
For the PDK: - you can actually pull both for neutral. Then pull any paddle to put it back into gear - you can bounce off the rev limiter - GT4 does NOT have pdk-s. Only the GT4 RS has that Source: have had multiple pdk caymans. Currently also have a GTS 4.0
Yep I have a GTS 4.0 PDK, It will bounce off the limiter in manual in both Sport and Sport Plus if you don't change gear in time. It will go to neutral if you pull both paddles together. It is exactly the same as a GT4. The GT4 pdk sport button is the same as putting the GTS in Sports Plus in terms of shifting speed, clutch engagement.
Great addition! I would add a warning to new drivers to avoid late braking and trail braking through corners. With the light front end and small 235 tires very easy to understeer through a downhill sharp corner if someone is coming from a front engined car with a lot of weight over the front, which is more forgiving. As you know the mid-engine cayman requires a differnet style of driving but is much more rewarding when driven right!
Good to see you out enjoying the drive so much. That's what its all about 💪
You got that right.

Since it's vacuum and not electronic, it's not smart enough to know there is nothing there. I've never gotten any errors on GT cars.
