"because I don't pretend to watch new Japan?" -MJF
The afterbirth was a classic everyone brawling while Mox and Tanahashi had a stare down that went no where
Forbidden Staring Contest
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Classic retro aew chaos. TK is truly taking inspiration from the first Aew episodes where no one had any idea how to wrap up the show. Can’t say they don’t do long term ig
@@blueskyz8097 Moxley probably felt like a fool standing up there that long.
Ikr that was awkward. It's like they didn't time it right all.
Hiroshi Tanahashi also appeared for IMPACT! Wrestling a few times between 2006 and 2008 when they were TNA and while you worked there, Jim. His first time was at Final Resolution 2006, where he was defeated by AJ Styles in an excellent matchup. He returned again in 2008 for several matches.
Jim moxley would love the shock collar, you just gave him an idea for another crazy match
Nick Gage vs Jon Moxley in a electric dog collar match at Double or Nothing.
Exploding barbed wire popcorn fart match part 2
Oh please dear god save us 🙏🏻
Could be AEW's equivalent of the Clockwork Orange House of Fun match from TNA only the AEW Big Cranked 2 Double-Death Electric Fuckery match...
(Yes, that's right. I couldn't be arsed carrying on the alphabetical sequence there, admittedly...)
LMFAO-
I knew Cornette was about to have me laughing once i seen it was 20mins long. Lol.
My favorites are when something is so bad that he intentionally watches them with the finest detail, just to explicitly illustrate how bad it was.
Anything with Jim Cornette dragging Jon Moxley works for Me ….. 🍿
The after match beatdown was horrid. I have never seen so many wrestlers throw terrible punches and forearms in a short amount of time
Go watch the original dark order goons from 2019. you'll be amazed
I like the fat guy with the lucha mask.
@@theconnected7234 this is worst considering they have learned new nothing and are doomed to repeat it
Naw man, when my favorite old man in minoru suzuki was also throwing these weaksauce punches, i was like wtf. Then Wheeler Yuta came up with the lamest forearms on him. Kept getting worse after rhat
Watch AEW more Consistently and you will see it Routinely …. 🤦🏿♂️
Tony not knowing how to book the two biggest NJPW stars ever comes to no surprise
That’s why he is the ‘Booker of the Year’ …. 🤷🏿♂️
@@constablekennedy7705 *Booker of the decade
Hiroshi Tanahashi was disrespected in this match. Made him wrestle slow Jericho and boring Lance Archer and had a shitty staredown with Moxley for 3 minutes.
I think they're trying to ruin all the Japanese wrestlers they can get their hands on.
@@ipsnagi9442 So like what WWE did with WCW but accidently?
@@DJYC21215 I'm not sure if it's purely accidental... this level of shitty booking on such a consistent basis seems deliberate but I hope not. And if it isn't deliberate, the level of incompetence displayed is astounding.
Cornette makes a great point about what Japanese wrestling used to be. Tiger Mask, Ultimo Dragon, Liger. There is an issue I've noticed in the wrestling community that they forget that modern Japanese wrestling style is not the style Japanese wrestling always was. So, when someone takes issue with it, it doesn't automatically mean that they hate Japanese guys. For some of us, we've seen Japanese wrestling where the psychology was far superior back in the 80s and 90s.
I really want to know his thoughts on Jushin Thunder Liger.
@@SuperPeterok I loved Liger. Liger vs Mysterio is one of my favorite matches.
Tanahashi and Okada have had tremendous matches though
@@segagenesis7708 Nope, those two have never wrestled each other.
@@mikeawesome9212 They fight in WCW (Starrcade -1996)
NWA did a masterful job of presenting The Great Muta..of course, modern wrestling bookers are too cool to have enhancement talents to put over stars. Muta was strong on TV before his feud with Sting..instead of two weeks of blah, then Sting vs Muta at GAB '89.
That's exactly of whom I was thinking. NWA did a great job of portraying Muta as a bad dude. When he debuted, he was phenomenal. I had never seen anything like him before.
I saw Muta at a house show in '88 with Gary Hart as his manager. I thought this guy was the next big thing. Sadly, no.
So True. Muta was amazing to me as a kid. His mystique was what got me. AEW knows nothing about this.
@@btipton6899 for most of '89 he was well booked. Maybe they rushed him into the World Title picture too soon, and ensured his return to Japan.
One the few cats i saw live both here in the States and in Japan when i got stationed there.Dudes work was so incredible in-ring,especially with Sting,pre-dating guys like RVD and Sabu by a few years with his moves.Had to respect him even if he was a heel.
Oddly enough, the best presented Japanese wrestler they’ve had on AEW TV so far has been Konosuke Takeshita and he’s not even close to the level of the NJPW guys in terms of popularity
The problem with Takeshita is that he was groomed by that outlaw indie mudshow DDT Wrestling. He seems like the type of wrestler NJPW would have wanted.
Takeshita has more star potential than a lot of guys his age in New Japan. It's a shame he got stuck in DDT, because you're not going to be a big star there.
@@tsaicho however he doesn't wrestle on mudshows on US TV. I don't watch ddt or really much wrestling at all so I'm not going to hold it against them.
@@tsaicho just because Jim has that weird hate fetish against DDT doesn't mean you have to have that some opinion on Konosuke. He's a legit wrestler with good size, athleticism, facials, etc. Kota and Kenny both were in DDT before going to NJPW becoming big main eventers so I'm sure Takeshita will be ok
@@thegreatapeoozaru They had Takeshita wrestle a child.
I saw Moxley eating at Waffle House this morning. Half way through his pancakes he got some juice then right back to his meal.
What an animal!
This is pretty funny. Now I wonder how many more times we'll see it copied and pasted lol.
I was there, too. He went to go grab his juice after Renee and Xavier woods got up t use the bathroom.
Makes you think what Mox and Renee do during free time.
@@thomashenley1903 It probably involves sharp things...
I'm a big NJPW fan and even I admit that there presence on the shows were lack luster. As Cornette said, no one made any impacting impressions. It's sad, because it was a bad representation of what they are capable of. The only one that delivered from the New Japan side was Shingo Takagi. But even his appearance was so minuscule he might as well not even have been there. He basically was just tacked onto the show. But he did great in the ring.
I agree the presentation into the ppv for most was crap. But the ppv itself delivered...way better than it had any right to be.
Same here. All I can say is when the same people are booked in NJPW, it looks much better, including the former Bullet Club members in AEW and Lance Archer. Moxley however looks the same in both places.
The after birth was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. The most ridiculous part of it was when Kingston came out and attacked Jericho. Suddenly the JAS run out and now Kingston is being beaten down like 3 or 4 on 1. Moxley, who is supposed to be Kingston's best friend, looks down at Kingston getting the shit kicked out of him with indifference and turns away to stare a Tanahashi for two minutes.
Agree Okada reputation was of a god but portrayed as normal in aew
Jon Moxkey looks perfect for a looney toon character on this artwork
He's Yosemite Sam without the long beard and moustache.
No 🧢
Moxley reeks of CZW garbage. I'm amazed he's not blading himself during his entrance.
If it wasn’t for WWE somehow getting wind of him he’d be drinking chicken blood at a fair Shitsville, LA
Wells he was known for his CZW wrestling matches before going to the WWE. I hate that AEW lets him do his deathmatch style stuff when he could actually have good story telling matches like his match vs Triple H

This is what makes the Cult of Cornette the best 👏
The convo at the end.🤣🤣🤣
Just brilliant
I saw some guy blaming the fake looking fight on the floor near the end on "jet lag", I talked to Bobby Fulton who was on 17 tours of Japan in his career and he laughed at that explanation. 🤣
Lmfao a guy blaming windmills a guys back with weak strikes on Jet lag is a mark that has never been in a fight making excuses.
Really you base your comment on one wrestler who jet lag didn’t bother? Just because Bobby Fulton don’t get jet lag doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Jet lag can be worse for some than others.
@@Bunbunfunfun would you prefer I transcribe the entire conversation? The point that apparently went over your head is that he has never heard of anyone that he has worked with ever having a phony, weak looking fight because of jet lag. Unlike you, he has spent over 40 years in the business, so I think he would know. Lmao
@@davey3884 I actually prefer you dropped the sarcasm it’s not needed. My point being jet lag does exist and one persons “ opinion “ about it doesn’t mean it could not be possible. But hey if YOU have to right on one persons OPINION sure go for it. It actually really funny how you are getting your back up about being “ right”, when it’s not even your own personal experience. And you talk to Bobby Fulton all the time.Sorry that sounds made up.
Imagine thinking jet lag is the same for everyone
Tanahashi is definitely no that borken down. He wrestles very physical 20-30 minutes matches all the time in Japan.
He’s not super broken down… but he’s nowhere near his best. A lot of strain for carrying the promotion on his back for almost 20 years.
@@Dodong0 Yes, but he has actually been great the past couple of years. He had some real bangers against the likes of Shingo Takagi, KENTA and Ishii since 2020
Tanahashi is broken down in some ways. You could tell he's got issues with his knees. If you watch him run for an extended period of time, you could tell he's in pain. That's because of his high fly flow where his knees hit the mat every time. Do that for 20 years and you're not going to move as quick anymore. Massive credit to him though. He could still work tremendously in big singles matches when they happen. He doesn't have as many big matches like he used to, but he can still be great.
@@jamesparker6364 I agree with you. I've never seen him wrestle and I can tell he's got mileage and is broken down by his movements, google some clips and seeing he has had some bad injuries. Saying a guy wrestles 20-30 minutes doesn't mean not broken
get off of tanahashi's nuts he's good in japan he ain't good here
Archer sort of looks like a big, older version of Moxley lol. The after birth itself of course was hilarious since Mox and Tanahasi stared at each other seemingly for 5+ minutes while everyone around them tried to simulate brawling just to use up time.
Now that you say yeah archer is. Why in the hell is he doing that goddamn old school version he has. I gave taker a pass bc it’s taker and he ain’t doing a fucking back flip with it but archers big ass doing that just doesn’t make any fucking sense.
I wish Jim would review some big NJPW shows. He might actually like it a lot.
He's too much of a racist and xenophobe to do that.
Amazing optimism there.
Apart from the comedy matches that kick off the shows.
His gimmick is to hate everything, and he's especially racist when it comes to Japanese wrestlers, so it'd be a cluster.
I do think that NJPW wrestlers do give it like 50% when they come to AEW.
Honestly yea. I notice that they don't even hit the way they would usually.
Absolutely, Kidani and Gedo probably tell them to water it down.
@@gogomarioloshi yeah and in a way it would make sense from a business point of view why go somewhere new and giving it your all and risking injury especially if you are a top star in another promotion.
@@anon1ahead669 I get it from a business point of view but I mean they also have to think about long term ya know because if this was my first time seeing Tanahasi and Okada I would careless for them. Like we all remember how Impact did Okada back in 2007.
I knew Jim was gonna have a field day with the afterbirth . 😂😂😂. Jim and Brian are spot on here .

Jon Moxley is the King of Foolery during and after Matches ….
@@grimsvaultstreaming3956 what?
Either you're an intentional troll, 12 years old, or just woefully ignorant of the hosts of this show.
From AEW overbooked crap to Jurassic porn and ends with a Seinfeld reference, god I love this show. 😃
Yeah, if you're a fan of family guy, south park or Seinfeld you will be entertained. The wrestling content is also nice
Love how this turns into a discussion about 1960-1970 porno flicks bring a piece of cinema history
I was shocked when I saw Okada on AEW television. He looked like a jobber where in New Japan he looks like an absolute star.
What jobbers have you been looking at? Stop sucking on the kool aid.
Yeah, a five-time IWGP champ and face of NJPW runs in wearing sweatpants and brawls like an idiot. They should have built up his appearance and then he should have showed up as a star. And a legend like Tanahashi had to job to a guy like Moxley.
I think Gedo regrets this crossover PPV to the core of his being.
@@perturabo420 Nah, I'm sure Tony gave them a ridiculous sum of money. Think about it, what was NJPW ever getting from this deal? Nobody in Japan watched the PPV or much cares about AEW, and the US exposure is marginal, especially given what a small piece of their business that is. Tony wanted this crossover to happen (because he's a mark), walked into that meeting starry-eyed and full of vigor, and I'm confident the Japanese took him to the cleaners for the privilege of booking his dream matches. Probably patted him on the back and told him what a great job he's doing too.
@@64UPAllGOD I'm sure he was milked well and the owners of New Japan were happy with the bags of money they got, but I still think the people involved in the booking still didn't like the shit that went down.
Hiroshi Tanahasi had a match with AJ Styles in TNA back in 2006.
I'm surprised Cornette doesn't remember that. Wasn't he there?

1:22 - Good timing with what happened to Giuliani in Staten Island
"I haven't seen her wrestle but I have seen her box" -Jim Cornette 😂😂😂
Sazuki was about to piledrive Yuta to a chair on the outside but Jericho (who was on the same side as Sazuki) stopped him.

Do you think pro wrestlers actually listen to these cornette videos? I think they do, though they would deny it publicly. I think Jim thinks so too, which is why he sometimes gives advice to the wrestlers as if they were listening.
I bet they don't. They don't give a shit what he has to say.
No. They definitely don't.
They freaking do! that's why they use the nicknames Cornette uses for these f**kers
Yes multiple have responded to subjects he brings up here. Wouldn’t be surprised if Tony takes some notes
Oh yeah Cody when he was on aew said "old mangers shouting at clouds."
People say Jim hates Japanese wrestler while here he praise japanese guys likes Jumbo Tsuruta and Tiger Mask Sayama.
He bladed sfter a slingblade at the PPV. A fucking slingblade!? The guys obssessed with blading himself.
He's going for the Abdullah forehead
"Which box?" I think Brian was very ashamed of that joke, hence the reason he said it so quietly!🤣
Good bit of porn history at the end there
Man of culture
Even Tanahashi couldn’t get a decent match out of Mudshow Mox on Sunday. May be my least favourite of the ‘serious’ wrestlers on AEW. He’s awful
Yup, every match is the same... that collar is sorely needed for him.
@@ipsnagi9442 The collar needs to go off when he blades himself too.
Always has been hence why the WWE didn’t bend over backwards to keep him …
Tanahashi REALLY tried in their match. I almost gave up when Moxley no sold the frog splash.
I totally argee, Mox is wrestling one of Japan's modern day legends & best wrestlers, & yet he still needs a portion of the match to take place outside the ring, he still needs to use a table, & he still needs to bleed. Since coming to AEW, Mox has been having the same match over & over again. It also doesn't help that he tries so hard & is so over the top in trying to be a tough guy. He comes off more like a caricature of a tough guy than an actual tough guy.
Tbh I started liking the bad segments more just because I wonder what will Cornette say about that.
I'm realizing that Jim doesn't know that New Japan has events in America. The G1 is usually held in the US. Okada vs Jay White sold out MSG. People have seen Japan wrestling in America. But admittedly US television hasn't seen New Japan wrestlers
Marilyn Chambers box became valuable 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Right Now... I think the Good talent pool is in England or UK..
Cafe Flesh is a true classic. The MC's raps are worth the price of admission alone.
Brian Last: Which box?
Me: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This match wasn't a complete embarrassment, even if Tanahashi had to carry Moxley, Jericho, and Archer. It was the brawl after the match, while Moxley and Tanahashi just stood there. The thrown in the fact Jericho had to do this two more times, after the Main Event of Rampage and the ending of Forbidden Door. I can only pray that Kingston and his group finally beat Jericho and his jobbers at Cardboard and Crashpad 2, or they are officially buried. The worst part of all of this, is you knew Tanahashi was not going to beat Moxley at the PPV
No Tanahashi can go as was seen in the PPV, this was just a match done to make Tanahashi look terrible well that or Tanahashi just didn't give a shit about appearing on AEW in the first place much like Okada
Who knows who the fuck these guys are
me...
The problem is Kahn loves getting EVERYONE on a show. But it ends up being a sloppy mess
15:31 is such a great burial of all the non-Japanese people working in Japan that "wrestle"
Oh man I fucking LOVE Suzuki lol... I been watching him for almost a decade and went back and watched alot of his good shit and man at one point I could see him going against Lesnar and winning... He was one scary dude...
I feel for Brian man this dude is SCARED of this card
This match was a joke.
I think the some of the issue is the overall styles. New Japan still on some level presents their matches as a legitimate fight. North America is much more about the entertainment and "star power", and that can be a tough gap to bridge.
The answer to your question is well one of two things: 1.NJPW is massively different than American wrestling so telling them they have to put on a completely different match throws them off also they have to deal with the language issue so the can't cut a promo for the english speaking audience though AEW could have easily done what NJPW does with its american wrestlers and have a translator so they could cut a a promo in Japanese at least and 2. Some of these Japan guys don't want to be on AEW and would rather just stick to wrestling in NJPW so they they do the bare minimum to fulfill their bosses request (Okada we know for a fact did not want to be there nor did he want to be apart of the PPV has he came straight out and said it in an interview about it. I wouldn't be surprised if Tanahashi felt the same way)
If I was owner of NJPW I would be laying down the law work your ass off , don’t care if you don’t want to be there. That’s so lame. All these guys did was make NJPW wrestlers look extremely weak and the company look second rate. I thought Japanese wrestlers were big into showing how great they are and their company is. Would be firing or burying Okada and anyone else who “ phoned it in”. It’s disrespectful to their North American fanbase as well. So not impressed.
Never would guessed this clip ends with Vanessa Del Rio 😁
Idk how you can say when Okada came out he just looked like another guy, because to the entire arena he looked like a superstar, given the roof came off the place.
That’s because they all know who he is…. If some rando was flipping through on TV, they’d just be thinking “who is this tall dude on a white t-shirt”. Okada looks magnificent in a suit; people (randos) would be star-struck if he came out dressed to the nines.
Its almost like if Jim doesn't personally know the person he needlessly shits on them for clicks.
@@Dodong0 wearing a suit in a beatdown lol? Rock, SCSA, etc. All went out in regular clothes for a beatdown, and people still flipped out just like the people did for Okada when he came out

He’s not lying
It's weird because in Japan you usually see these guys in suits or at least their gym clothes during events. They should've asked them to come in suits and do at least one match where each of them absolutely obliterates a midcard heel. Imagine if the audience saw the rainmaker entrance and Okada comes in and just destroys some shitter like Daniel Garcia.
Tony Khan fucking sucks.
Hey Brian, nobody missed MJF, Christian did a great heal promo on Dynamite
Wasn't Cornette present when both Nakamura and Styles worked TNA?
They need to get sunny Ono and Medusa on the team to shine the spotlight on some of the japanese talents.

For that ending with the staredown, they must have ended the match early by mistake, right? No way you book two guys staring at each other like doofuses for five minutes straight on purpose. I was watching with my brother and it just became this great running gag and we became more and more amused. Every time they'd cut back to the ring one of us would shout "they're still staring at each other!" and the laughs would get louder and louder.
I will hand it to Moxley and Tanahashi sticking to the bit even after they must have known it was going too long. "Okay, don't laugh. Keep staring. God, has it been 10 minutes? It feels like 10 minutes. Were we supposed to move to something else? Is someone going to cue us when to stop? Eh, don't want to mess up, just keep with the staredown until they tell us otherwise."
Georgina Spelvin was great in Police Academy,. could we have the next slide
At times I thought Tanahasi was the red rooster while I watching this, and why was archer standing outside the ring like an idiot while jericho was getting pinned right in front of him
That stare down between Moxley and the Japanese guy was so long i almost felt sorry for them. It's like they didn't know what else to do so they just stood there looking like idiots.
They’re booking them more like Funaki than Inoki

Top NJPW guys do very little outside of big events because their schedule is brutal.
Yeah, loooong matches multiple days a week on their tours. They’re not going to risk everything getting injured by some untrained goof from the American indies in AEW
Forbidden Door made me realize how overrated Moxley really is. He’s always bleeding, and uses it as a crutch, to hide his shortcomings in the ring.
Don't forget reckless with his opponents, threw a guy at stairs with an xplex on weekly tv... that was my 'Im done with you' line.
Timing is terrible. Can't stay in the ring. Not the safest in the ring.
I still think back to when Mox shared that Brock Lesnar rejected all his ideas for their Mania match, and how ticked off everyone was about it. Knowing what we know about Mox now, I can only image how stupid those ideas must have been.
I had such hope for Moxley in AEW but he’s terrible …
Same thing over & over again ..
Reigns & Rollins have left him so far in the dust it’s not even funny..
Tana actually did go to TNA for a couple of matches when Jim was there
This ppv review gonna be hilarious...I can't wait.
" I'd never seen her wrestle but I have seen her box "
No today's Japanese wrestlers are not as super hard hitting as the past,
Kobashi, Misawa, Kawada, Chono, Muta....but many of NJPW native talent are excellent; Tanahashi is a all time great, Okada is a young legend, I wish Tetsuya Naito was on the card because he's fun to watch in the ring.
How Great was Muta?!
It might be the roster picks, it might be that a lot of the New Japan guys are just there to get paid, or it might be that AEW is following the booking idea that these guys aren't going to get put over, proving that AEW is the world's best promotion. It could be a mix of any of those IMO.
Another FIRE video from Jim and Brian 💯 everything they said was facts
Facts? He literally said Japanese wrestlers cant throw punches and they aren't that good, which is ridiculous. He also mistakenly believes New Japan and All Japan were around in the 50s (both started in the 70s) and that the only Americans in Japan are guys that couldn't get jobs in the US (Juice Robinson is the only major American in New Japan and he voluntarily left WWE).
I expected many things from this episode... But I didn't expect it to end off as an episode of *Clean Filth!*
"Tonight on *Clean Filth,* Jim Cornette's gonna show us a whole new way to handle your RACKET!"
In many ways, AEW is a much better product than it was, 2 years ago. The production has improved, and the show feels more major league.
But the unnerving lack of self-awareness is alarming at this point. AEW has based its entire identity on having a superior in-ring product. Other than a few exceptions, their in-ring product has become increasingly disengaged.
Couldn’t have put it Better Myself Bro
I'd say improvement is an illusion given by the big name hires they fail to use properly
thanks Jim for being the beacon of common sense as always you are so right they Made every one of them look like JABRONIES new Japan is an absolute mess if this is what they are pushing too many American talents that just murky the waters and make it just hard to watch good lord smh
New Japan comes off like they just basically push American rejects.
There were no American New Japan guys on the show. Juice Robinson is the only major American guy in NJ.
AEW need a few video editors who can make video packages to highlight these wrestlers and why they are a big deal prior to their music playing and them going down to the ring on live television.
"Wheeler Useless" LMAO
I can't wait until we never find out the buy rate for this PPV because it will be so much lower that Tony will be too embarrassed to reveal it.
Marylin Chambers is infinitely more interesting than anything going on in wrestling right now.
And she’s been dead for years!
Yeah the Japanese guys were used poorly. Should have come in and torn the set down. Instead, we got them coming out as if they were just at a friend's birthday party.
Also... 21:50 🤣😭
I could see Jim yelling all this to his OVW kids
What’s great is after watching the ppv and personally loving the matches this all doesn’t matter
That ending was a shit show wtf all these other brawls and yeah moxley and tanahashi they just have an intense stare down wtf
Ive only started watching this AEW show the past year or so as it's on ITV4 for free in the UK before this I hadn't watched any form of wrestling in years. My question is this, why does every single match on this promotion have to have a spot were whoever's wrestling no matter who it is they have to trade terrible looking forearms back and forth? What is the deal with this? Why does everyone do it? When did this become a thing? It looks so stupid.
