- This song is such a summer song to me. I thought my concert toms would sound good on this one. I looked for credits for this song and it appears that it could be a young Steve Jordan playing on this one! It has a NY session player vibe, so I thought maybe Gadd or Marotta. This would have been a early session for Steve. Anyhow, if someone has the album let me know if this track is his.
Enjoy the last day of summer ... in NJ!

Most underrated love song of all time!
Great job Earl!
Bert_ And_I ... thank you Bert! 👍🏻🤟🏻😀
the perfect song to experiment and add your own fills. great drumming btw
Great drum cover sir!!
Thanks for watching my friend!
Reminds of the movie Grownups!! I know it is older but it has became popular again cause of that film!! Sounds so good Earl!! Hope you are enjoying your Labor day!!
Thank you Zax! It reminds me of senior year of high school! :)
you deserve more recognition! rock on!
Thanks for the kind words! 🙏🏻👍🏻🤘🏻🥁
@@earldrum i agree wasnt a video i thought id watch all of but man you sound pretty damn good, cheers
Oh man I love that song. Aaesome performance as always. Hope you had a great weekend.
Drum Covers by Bill ... thanks Bill! I played a lot of drums, so it was a great weekend. Have a great week!
Ian a newby and inteh same age vintage and decided I want to learn this. I love the use of toms during a song and not just in fills. Loved your crossed hands but maybe I will try open my hands and use left on the high hat when the floor tom is used or maybe learn it all open handed.... wish me luck
Mel I’m sure you can play easier open handed, if you play open handed. I goof around with the idea, but I’m not very good at it ... so figure out my own way to make it work! That’s what did here. Thanks for watching
I just started a yacht rock project and of course, this is a must for a yacht rock band. Looked at dozens of covers of this tune, trying to find what I wanted to do with this song because everything I was doing sounded too much like I was trying to force the sound and over filling the space. Found your cover and its just so smooth and covers the double drum parts beautifully. Yeah, I gotta admit I am ripping some of your grooves off. LOL Thanks for the inspiration on this one. Love the kit! Awesome sound!
I’m glad I could help you figure your parts out! That’s great I’m always trying to inspire drummers! Thanks for watching and your kind words! Let me know if you ever put up a version of your band or yourself doing the song on RUclips! 🤘🏻👍🏻🙏🏻😎
Love your grove Earl! Brilliantly played as always. Envious of your sound man!
Thank Jorge. You know I keep working on my sound. I think switching kits all the time makes my mixing template have to be tweaked so I work hard to get it to sound right. Sometimes it great, but sometimes I wish I have an extra set of eras to say hey you tom just went out of tune! Because being a one-man production teams you sometimes lose perspective of things. Thanks for the kind words.
My man killed it. We gotta get you famous cuz
Thank you Jacob! 🤟🏻🤘🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
Nice !!
Thanks for watching Gaujo! 🙏🏻🤘🏻👍🏻
Perfect ❤️

Thank for watching! :)
Honor who honor deserves and you Mr Earl deserve that honor and respect💯🥁👌. very solid and precise all your drumming. And great audio mix.
Greetings from Texas 🤠👍
Thank you my friend! You are very kind! Have a great Labor Day!
Leo Adamian and Steve Jordan "double drumming" is what the site says. Great gover, tone, skills, and Tama/Paiste kit. Looks a sweet pie to play.
Thanks for the feedback and drummer credit Joao! 🙏🏻😎🤘🏻👍🏻
A+ performance Earl!!!!!! Love this song! 👏👏👏🙏🙏
Thank you Bryan! :)
best song for summer vacation :D
Thanks for watching and the feedback!
Your drums sound so nice too. I rock with the Remo heads, they sound so nice
Thanks!
Took me this long to notice your left hand stick is the other way, no clue how many videos I've seen and missed it :-) sounds great 🥁🥁 😊
Robsoni ... thanks for watching my videos! Yea, it’s like my trademark now! I do it on hard hitting to soft mellow songs. I think I play better with it turned around backwards vs like everyone else! It’s my crazy technique! Thanks for the feedback!
@@earldrum this was something else I had started noticing. But listening gives the answer. You, sir, have great sound!
Thanks for mentioning this. Happy Drumming!
Awesome sound and playing!
Thomas Nussbaum ... thank you Thomas! 😀🙏🏻
\m/ Agree the toms sound great
Great job Earl
mondospark ... thank you Gilbert!
Brilliant!!
love this song, my favorite cover of yours so far 🤘
Thanks for the feedback! It was fun to play! 👍🏻🙏🏻🤟🏻
Here’s what my research shows: “Leo Adamian - drums; Steve Jordan - "double drumming" with Adamian.”
So you are cover the parts of 2 drummers brilliantly!
Camera vibrance and mustache look cool Earl! Drumming and sound are great on this classic!
That makes sense ... it is a very full drum part. I dumbed the drum part down a bit. But I wanted it to groove. Thanks Rich! Have a great Labor Day!
Steve Jordan was probably called in to fix Adamians parts. Watch this vid, Holmes talks about how they cut and pasted the one good part of the groove from the first take of the song. ruclips.net/video/WcxMZTLSY4A/видео.html
😊 sounds awesome man
Thanks for the feedback Richard! 👍🏻🙏🏻😎🤘🏻
@@earldrum your welcome my friend 😁

Thank you my friend! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

Original letra
I was tired of my lady
We'd been together too long
Like a worn-out recording
Of a favorite song
So while she lay there sleeping
I read the paper in bed
And in the personal columns
There was this letter I read
If you like Pina Coladas
And getting caught in the rain
If you're not into yoga
If you have half a brain
If you'd like making love at midnight
In the dunes on the Cape
Then I'm the love that you've looked for
Write to me and escape
I didn't think about my lady
I know that sounds kind of mean
But me and my old lady
Have fallen into the same dull routine
So I wrote to the paper
Took out a personal ad
And though I'm nobody's poet
I thought it wasn't half bad
Yes I like Pina Coladas
And getting caught in the rain
I'm not much into health food
I am into champagne
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon
And cut through all this red-tape
At a bar called O'Malley's
Where we'll plan our escape
So I waited with high hopes
And she walked in the place
I knew her smile in an instant
I knew the curve of her face
It was my own lovely lady
And she said: Oh it's you
Then we laughed for a moment
And I said: I never knew
That you like Pina Coladas
Getting caught in the rain
And the feel of the ocean
And the taste of champagne
If you'd like making love at midnight
In the dunes on the Cape
You're the lady I've looked for
Come with me and escape
Thanks for watching and the lyrics!
Great performance ! I’d like to try same but where do you find the drum score ? Thank you
Hi Charlotte, unfortunately there is not a drum score. I listen to the song and develop the part by ear and learn the song. That’s how I do most of my drum covers. Developing your ear and transcribing your own part is helpful. Some may build a road map drum chart like I do for church gigs. But I usually learn drum covers by ear alone! I hope this helps! I think I will talk about your question on my next Ask Earl show!
Do you have a copy of the drums only version of this? It’s awesome, and I want to track some instruments on top
I’m sorry my friend I don’t have a drums only version. I did this one over a year ago! Thanks for watching!
Amei!!! Só faltou a pessoa que posta a letra nos comentários.
Thanks for the feedback 😎🥁🤘🏻👍🏻
Nice cover, just needs a little dynamics control.
I thought the mix was good for a drum cover. Thanks for watching!
Nice!!!
fr3droq-Ensoniq Music Producer ... so kind my friend!
