I love that all my adult children volunteer to appear in my videos.
My oldest son loves to bake and asked if we could bake together and film it.
I have another son with ulcerative colitis and he asked that we make his healthy foods together
Lastly my daughter loves to thrift with me and adventure and she too is open to being filmed.
That being said, if they were all still underaged they would not appear on my channel at all. I actually can’t stand channels that have children.
Always love your insight. Glad I started my channel this late in life.
I was introduced to Aaron because of your channel and he is a riot! I love this community and because of your videos I don’t care anymore about all the money stuff. That being said, I will probably have to apply for a real job soon.

I started my channel (properly as I’d had the presence for years but didn’t really post) when I was 59. It’s been a rollercoaster ride. I’ve had a generally superb response from my viewers with a very few trolls. The problem is if you gain a larger audience then you gain a proportionally increased percentage of the nay sayers.
I I got one nasty comment a year with 100 subscribers then that is around one per month with 1000 subscribers, one every couple of days with 10,000 etc. I now have 11,800 subs so it’s increasing.
The way to avoid the trolls is to avoid giving them the opportunity to respond by avoiding the controversial.
As for your kids, yes, be open with them, think before you post but also remember if you empower your kids with self confidence, self awareness, a real education (not just leaving them infront of a tv or laptop) and love then they will be so much more, resilient than we allow ourselves to believe then to be. Seeing and dealing with the negatives in life is a vital part of the growing and learning process and vital tools to succeed in later life.
As a parent we don’t like to see our kids upset or hurt but it happens and always will. It’s our response to teach them how to deal with that which is important, how to deal with the bad people, how to overcome the hurt and negativity and how to emerge stronger not weaker, that’s our parental job to guide them.
Very best wishes from Cumbria,(old) England

«Picture of my kid in the newspaper» has to be one of the most GenX’er things to use as an example ;)
Back in the day when a pic in a newspaper was almost the only way to show the world you existed, good times :)

I totally get what you mean. I have an adult son who is turning 26 this month. He’s married and living in another country. When considering what to talk about on RUclips, I definitely thought about having him and the possible implicit consequences.

Aaaahahahahaha, I’ve been getting the same «start youtube in your 40/50s» etc myself last week or so, the robot algorithm overlords are taking over for sure.
