  • This game is great, a true red project put on CD.
    Finally finished and I'm very happy with the final product. I still have a little bit of story left, but man this is a game I'd be down to 100% (at least in content, not much of an achievement hunter).
    Let me know what you think about the video, upcoming is another entertainment-focused Friday release rather than another review. and now I'm finally free to play some more Dark Souls 3.

    Been playing this game ever since it came out, and still am. The soundtrack is absolutely spot on. my favorite is "The Fields of Ard Skellig" Sitting that paper boat, water all around, feels like hours. i cant put it down. I think most people tend to undervalue how important music is to video games. In the past 3 years my fondness for the sound design of games grew exponentially as those annual release titles just became more and more stagnant. I remember jamming out to Black Ops 2 lobby music... needless to say I won't be returning to those franchises. But even harkening back to when I first started games as a kid, I would sit and listen to the title screen of Kingdom Hearts 2 for hours...
      And man you're not even Geralt's age yet, he's monster slaying at 90!! You've still got years of service to dedicate ;)

Above that The Witcher world is much more immersive and atmosphere is much denser. The story, characters (and their arcs) and worldbuilding is also superior to RDR2 as well as facial animations (for some reason RDR2 has awful facial animations). I tried playing it about 5 years ago and had a hard time getting into it and was slightly overwhelmed with all the different systems, crafting, alchemy, oils, etc. Picked it up again when they released the complete edition and absolutely loved it. Honestly as someone that finished the original on deathmarch. I restarted the game a while back after the PS5 version released. I like the new gameplay changes on one hand gets you certain skills and abilities faster, but on the other .. now it feels like you level way too fast. Back in the day on DM a creature 2 levels higher than you was a real threat, esp early on they took zero damage and one shot you. But now I can fight bosses that are 5 levels higher no problem. Because by lv 6 you can have both your light and heavy attack maxed, and there is no reason not to go for that because the reality is that it's what will benefit you most at the beginning esp. And by lv 10 you can have the best combat skills + the best defensive skills like 100% damage reduction while dodging

      The game definitely has staying power if someone's making a video about how great it is a decade later hahahah, you should definitely try the DLCs!! I actually made a video on them a month or so ago. But, currently am intending to play Witcher 1, then 2, and potentially return to TW3 though that's definitely in the distant future. Also wanna try Gothic as per lots of suggestions.
      I didn't engage in Gwent enough tbh, but I'd also like to sidebar most in-game minigames for a future video about how that feature is woefully missing from a lot of the newer 'living, breathing' world titles.
      One of my favorites is Caravan from Fallout, Bully has really good arcade/carnival minigames, pool in GTA4, and golfing in GTA5 was always fun. Blitzball in FFX was a little ridiculous. Also in-game tournies/coliseums are a must-have for any action title, Kingdom Hearts had a really great one and Sekiro's Boss Rush/Gauntlet of Strength modes come to mind.

    Awesome video, and one who's enthusiasm for this game is something I share completely! I played through The Witcher 3 for my first time around 3 or so years ago and it utterly absorbed me. The world, the combat, the skills, the gameplay in general, the characters, the main/side narratives, the dialogue choices, etcs, it all just clicked so hard for me that it stands out as an experience all it's own. I remember the quest with Keira where you get some dialogue choices that made me think very carefully on how to choose, and while things went well I was shocked when I learned just how badly that situation could have ended! I'm compelled to just gush about the game is so many ways but I'll cut myself off and just say this video nailed that feeling the game can leave you with, that fondness for having/sharing the experience so that other's might get to have it as well. Much appreciated video, glad I came across it for sure!

Witcher's was a really great one, and a really pleasant surprise, I'm sure I said it in the video but I dislike character-driven stories, much prefer silent protagonist and just give me a goal to reach... probably a big reason why Dark Souls has consumed me. But, regardless, I hope I can bring you more shit like this and maybe show you new stuff as well.

      @@iamiceTV I can dig that, and while I've never played a Souls game they all look fantastic. Hope to rectify this at some point because it's becoming more and more rare to find well-crafted challenge in games or even challenge of any kind in a lot of games. The challenge of many big, open-world games is following directions telling you to go here, do this, kill that, etc that is about as fulfilling as picking up all the items on a grocery list. They look great, sound great, and treat the player like a toddler with a traumatic brain injury of some severity.
      Anyway, gettin' in the weeds a bit there lol. I'm actually about to watch some more of your vids now! I like how you come off as very genuine and straight up with how you present things to your audience while also being well-informed, so as far as I'm concerned you can play any game and I'll watch you cover them as I just dig your style/presentation. Took me 4 or 5 tries but I eventually fell in love with it. Definitely a slow starter but Geralts philosophical sarcastic comments tickle me, the insane yet politically astute characters he meets intrigue me. Yen being possessive and jealous feels flushed out and real. Everyone felt so real and flushed out. And skellige and novigrad are gorgeous even if Vellen is a bit lacklustre for me.
    A mission might question your ethical nature for killing harmless sentient monsters or help you feel the lonliness you and your witcher colleagues all feel as your academy shrinks to extinction.
    The humour is amazing. Whether youre dressing in drag to call bitches or bantering with Djikstra.
    Finally, I got the worst ending and just couldnt play on. Never had a game really make me feel lioe my choices had actions. Your mage and peller friends die, you die. It hurt. My overprotective nature of ciri stopped her finding her own autonomy and confidence. The small details are phenomenal.
    Much better than anything Bethesda have ever done.
    Soundtrack is too small and the game is unstable on any platform but that would be the only criticisms.

    I just finished the main story and I wish I could experience everthing from the beginning again without any knowledge about the game :( of course, the game is highly replayable, however, since I'm a completionist, I think there is nothing much left for me to explore...but that took me 150h in total. And there are still the expansions...I hope I'm in for a treat with them! great video

      It's always such a wonderful moment when things like this can fascinate us so deeply that we forget about the turmoil of life within these interactions. I've experienced that across music, TV, movies and games, I love it all. Personally I find myself unmotivated, wanting, sometimes mentally in a rut y'know, but those outlets just spark that fascination in the world and life, and since starting these videos and this channel I just feel eternally grateful to have a platform and the ability to share my thoughts and in turn, having others share theirs.

    Death March with enemy upscaling is the definative way to play the game as it makes it almost mandatory for you to use all of the games mechanics,
    ie. Healing is no longer free by resting, you need to eat food or use alchemy to regain health.
    Preparing for monster contracts by reading the beastiary to see what mosters are weak to and using the correct blade oils could be the difference between killing the monster first try and reloading a save.
    Lower difficulties can pretty much be steamrolled with light attack and dodge spam

    From 2016 the time I played it first, I played it just because the hype around it and people recommended it to me. At that time I really wasn't playing any other games than FPS. First time I booted it up I rushed everything and didn't get the game mechanics as I never played RPG before. The long talks and long cutscenes made me really bore then I completely dropped it when I reached Velen area. After a year I really gave it a try, this time not rushing the beginning and understanding everything first, having patience while the game hooks me up to it's story.And did it hook me up! I've been playing it since then, giving it another playthrough after every year or two years. I enjoyed it from it's beginning to every end possible with the mindblowingly good DLCs. Heck I even played just Blood and Wine for like 3-4 times now when I don't have the time to finish the main story again I just hop on the beautiful world of Toussant and enjoy it again and again. Similar to you the most captivating of this game was to me Music. The sad and eerie music of the bogs of Velen which really made me understand of the war torn situation there, the desperation of it's people and the sorrow and horror lying around everywhere, to the calm and peaceful music of Skellige where I really felt the snows of the mountain as if they were right in front of me. I can't even describe what this game means to me now, I search and search and try to find other games that will give me what Witcher 3 gave me a long time ago but I only find a void in my desireness. No other game comes close to this, at least to me, this is why I'm re-installing this game to give another run and while I am downloading it I searched in yt to remind myself why I should play it one more time and your video came up and I glad it did. You summed it up perfectly, when I was listening to your words it felt as if you were talking with the same emotions as me towards this game. I agree with most of your summary of it.

    Bought this game full price at release, bought it again 3 years ago on sale. And today I just bought it for the third time full price. I actually would rather pay them full price, out of appreciation. From software is the only other company that I can’t think of, that offers such craftsmanship. These guys are true, dedicated creatives and it deserves respect.

      They definitely earned a pay day for this game for years to come. Cyberpunk left quite a sour taste in my mouth, but I'd be excited for anything Witcher-related from CDPR still.
      It really depends on the project but I'd even throw money at Rockstar too. GTA 6 will hopefully be a great game... definitely want to see more on the single-player side of things though. I don't give a rat's ass about their online formats.

    Do you need to play the first two first? I know, seems like a dumb question, but 3 gets way more compliments than any of the other games.

    • @iamiceTV
      @iamiceTV  Год назад +1

      I wouldn't say so, I've only played Witcher 3 and merely touched Witcher 2. That's only relevant if you're worried about the story, but the game still does a good job of getting you into the swing o each recurring member anyways.
      Edit: this game is talked about the most because it's the most modern. The other games took place in more linear worlds w/ more linear quest design. This one being open world comes off more intriguing to prospective and new gamers alike. Though, I'd say this one probably does also play the best on top of that.

    Since you loved this game, you might want to check out the one that started it all and pretty much defined the action adventure RPG genre. The graphics are outdated nowadays but everything else makes it worth it and I am referring to Gothic I and Gothic II (including Night of the Raven DLC) .

    • @iamiceTV
      @iamiceTV  Год назад +1

      Went ahead and wishlisted both!! Thanks for the suggestion, hopefully a massive sale comes soon, but you don't recommend Gothic 3? Or its just not quite as tantalizing as 1 and 2

    • @rizonlight
      @rizonlight Год назад

      @@iamiceTV That one is quite controversial... The modding community found a way to make it work and it has it's upsides, especially in it's open world (being the first open world game ever created without any loading screens, a feat onto itself at the time) . While some people quite like the game and others completely hated it, one thing is certain and widely accepted; what came after (Forsaken Gods, Arcania and The fall of Setariff) are totally trash...
      I recommend you start with the good ones, Gothic 1 and the greatest game of the series Gothic 2 (the gold edition which included the expansion Night of the Raven) . I know there were some good bundle sales especially on GoG in the past, so it's worth researching the web for some.

    • @iamiceTV
      @iamiceTV  Год назад +1

      @@rizonlight I'll definitely look into all 3, have a few places in mind to search. Thanks for the suggestion, always appreciate 'em :) and if it's as good as you say, probably will be a good bet to see a video of it on here in the future.
      Edit: Well I got a bundle of all 3 for $1.50, so... yeah. Not sure when I'll get around to them but I own them now hahahah

    Somehow bloody baron stuck with me even after whole game and 2 dlcs. I would love to see more from him, did he safe anna ect

    • @iamiceTV
      @iamiceTV  10 месяцев назад

      At first I really didn't like Bloody Baron, mostly because I despised Ciri sections. This was my second attempt trying the game.
      On the third attempt I did Bloody Baron entirely different and literally every aspect of that interaction changed and that's when I finally understood 'oh damn, thats why the dialogue is how it is'. This third time I did the whole she-bang, freed his wife, and buried the lubberkin. I assume him moving to the mountains and us never hearing of him again at least it was successful, as it kept him closer to Anna and gave him a new, quieter, more peaceful purpose.
      Definitely the 'click' factor for me, Baron's underrated but definitely falls out of scope rather unfortunately :/

    • @iamiceTV
      @iamiceTV  9 месяцев назад

      So far I'm only really in the frustration phase, but its obviously a layered and thought out card game so I've got to learn, but I'm a very anal gamer man
      I usually focus first on main content, and side gigs that I wanna do, especially with an open world because that sense of time dragging on hits me without fail no matter what game, y'know. Even for Fallout: New Vegas I didn't mess with Caravan until my 3rd playthrough hahah, but definitely on a revisit I'd love to give Gwent its fair share of time... but I plan to play through the trilogy first before re-visiting TW3. That should give me ample time to wash away the familiarity.
