I just have to say...Jez Strode is a definitely one of the most underrated & under appreciated drummers/ musicians ! Listen to this ...clearly proves my point! Lol.He always had a cool attitude...never had an exssaturated expression his face like many musicians do...( pop rock drummers usually don't),somehow we overlooked those drummers's talents easily..we tend to pay more attentions to the front guys.He did a beautiful & amazing...unique( like someone else has pointed that out on another site...I read earlier guided me back here) job in this song...HE IS A REALLY GIFTED DRUMMER! AND I REALLY DIG IT NOW! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!I COULD EXPRESS IT WITH A WORD " BEAUTIFUL" REGARDING ONLY FEW DRUMMERS WORKS & THEIR SOUNDS.NOT MANY AT ALL(.I hope I spelled EXASSURATE right.).
i grew up in the 80s, it really was the best time for music, even the songs that weren't big hits like this one are so much better to listen to than the so-called 'chart hits' of now
This was a big hit single in many countries that hit the top 10 + 20 like in the UK, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Australia, + New Zealand, Off the big hit album-Islands in many countries!! Where you from exactly- The US??
i love everything about this song - it's well written, sung & produced - and the instrumental bridge @ 2.56 to 3.26 is amazing - i had the 12" copy & would tape it ( ask an older person !) over & over so it lasted about 10 minutes ( yes i loved it that much !) 80's Forever !
Nice pix (and fun tune)! Twin towers (sigh)...a craft services table (wonder what they fed these lads and the crew?)...NYC subway system...for better and for worse there's nowhere else like it. Broome & Mercer, huh? I'll have to try and remember to take note if I'm in the area. Don't think I've ever been to the Statue of Liberty (if I was, I was so small I barely remember and surely didn't appreciate it like I would if I was older) and Ellis Island (actually, I know I've never been here). This has inspired me (the shots of being on a boat and seeing the Statue of Liberty) to get my ass over there and visit sometime between now and the end of May (I imagine the summer it's a lot more crowded). ❤☮🌎
See my face you know where I've been walking in jungle Cruising down boulevard part of the race taking a tumble Loving a stranger is fearing from danger Is crying in some avenue and soon the hate will be there (VERSE 2) Assassin with gun is taking his aim to target his rival And tossing the street is a dangerous game the snakes are survival Love in that stranger still fearing that danger Still crying in some avenue and soon the hate will be there too (CHORUS 1) Life in the big apple moves very fast and so must you Do like the others do and don't you drag your heels Life in the big apple moves very fast (VERSE 3) Cops on route are hot in pursuit as windows are shattered Cafй and arcade are teeming with loot the sidewalks are scattered Walking down highways just seeing things my way While dealer man enjoys his wealth you spare the rope he'll hang Himself (CHORUS 2) Life in the big apple moves very fast and so must you Do like the others do and don't you drag your heels Life in the big apple moves very fast and so must you Do like the others do and don't you drag your... drag your (FINAL CHORUS) Life in the big apple moves very fast and so must you Do like the others do and don't you drag your heels
I can recognise most of the scenes as being shot on the corner of Mercer and Broome. I cant figure out which bldg the guys runs past as hes heading for the mailbox, although it must be in the vicinity. The Fire Hydrant on Mercer that the guy puts a garbage can on top of is removed ! Soho has lost all its grittiness unfortunately, its just cleaned up and filled with expensive shops. I would love to have thes photos in high resolution, they are all so beautiful and adds to the magic of the video.
Wow! You must be from N.Y. ...obviously...this was so long ago you wrote here....I just found this a few weeks ago...& came back here...soho was my favorite place to visit whenever I went to n.y.city! Though I was not too crazy about being in n.y.as it is a dirty city....sorry..., but soho was very amazing ...very artsy...loved it!
Nick Beggs wanted to be the frontman, careful what you wish for. This was utter shit. Limahl went on to much bigger things. Nick was the reason they sacked Limahl, period.
Anna from Poland ,,, I miss those moments so much, and this song also changed my life
My life too 😍
Thank you for your wonderful channel, Mr. Strode!
I ❤❤❤ Kajagoogoo!!!
I had this on vinyl back in 1983. I moved to New York on September 1988.
I'm here for the Nick Beggs singing and bass playing cool. this is so, so much better then the crap that's on the air waves these days.

It hurts me any time, listening to this song. Kajagoogoo was my fafourite.
This was released in September 1983 , as I was 10 years and 8 months old, and bought it with my pocket money 😻x
It'll probably be on BBC4 tomorrow at about 7:30pm.

This is nostalgie! Bring back that music, please!
I have to agree that this is also my favourite; the start is awesome and then comes in mid-way again, and the bass line during that is just so good!

I LLLLOVE THIS SONG TOOOO!!! AND THEM NATURALLY!!
See my face you know where I've been walking in jungle
Cruising down boulevard part of the race taking a tumble
Loving a stranger is fearing from danger
Is crying in some avenue and soon the hate will be there
(VERSE 2)
Assassin with gun is taking his aim to target his rival
And tossing the street is a dangerous game the snakes are survival
Love in that stranger still fearing that danger
Still crying in some avenue and soon the hate will be there too
(CHORUS 1)
Life in the big apple moves very fast and so must you
Do like the others do and don't you drag your heels
Life in the big apple moves very fast
(VERSE 3)
Cops on route are hot in pursuit as windows are shattered
Cafй and arcade are teeming with loot the sidewalks are scattered
Walking down highways just seeing things my way
While dealer man enjoys his wealth you spare the rope he'll hang
Himself
(CHORUS 2)
Life in the big apple moves very fast and so must you
Do like the others do and don't you drag your heels
Life in the big apple moves very fast and so must you
Do like the others do and don't you drag your... drag your
(FINAL CHORUS)
Life in the big apple moves very fast and so must you
Do like the others do and don't you drag your heels
Erie to see the WTC now...

0:41 ,SCARFACE-bilbord
1.42 scary to see how close they are to the twin towers knowing what would follow.
Where then were Batman, Superman, Robocop, and Chuck Norris?
Where did the original video go?
ive been wondering this too ???

Too shy even lol...:)
Sounds like Christopher Cross if he was Auto-Tuned.
Then went down hill

Mullet
Kajagoogoo is a lot better without Limahl
Mmmm yeah right! More like Kajagoogoo died a horrible death without him!
@@prezakid9 that's true because their true self was not a pop act
omgsolikevalleygirl I suppose your right. I think they considered themselves serious musicians, unfortunately for the fans of Kajagoogoo with Limahl!
Yeah without a doubt.. Music today is pure trash, completely meaningless and very forgettable.
Nick is better than Limahl...
Yup
Molto meglio senza limahl
