I see that as a sad thing, because this game had serious potential. Hell, I've even thought that if this game was made by fans it would've been incredible.
Gameplay wise, I think 5 and DmC: DE are the best. The DMC series as a whole has incredible gameplay and in-depth combat but those two titles in particular are my personal favorites to play. I feel like I can express my playstyle the most with DMC5 and DmC: DE, with the freedom and how amazing jump canceling feels in both
One thing that I love about this game is the massive amounts of combos that are possible between various weapons and movement abilities. I come from a fighting game background, and this game really has the same (if not more) combo potential as complex fighting games.

One thing that DMC has that I wish would be in the main series too is the ability to combo into different weapons without dropping it. Rebellion: Y Y, -> Osiris Y Y Y Rebellion: Y Y, -> Arbiter Y Aquila: Y Y, -> Osiris Y Y Y Not many standard combos in DMC due to the lack of Swordmaster Style, but I appreciated that you could continue a combo into another weapon, provided they have the same inputs.
This actually opened my eyes to a whole new potential of combos in DmC that I never would have thought of before, the gameplay felt oddly basic to me and now I see why.

Comboing in this game is just different i could never do it man, mad respect to this guy, gives me so much nostalgia watching this given this being my first dmc game i ever played at age way too young so thanks for that
@@ashtondillard6906 i think with the special effects and art direction this game chose, i might agree with you, cuz old all the others the basic attacks didn't really look all that cool, the only stuff that reeeally looks awesome is the hard to pull off stuff, which is hard to pull off, so your first 100+ hours, really wont feel all that cool just getting smacked around trying high level tactics, but with this game pretty much everything looks cool, so in DMC you'll be getting dopamine from doing basic combos all the way until youre doing high level combos, unlike the other dmc's where you'll be getting small bits of dopamine spaced extremely far apart, until you can pull off insane combos where THEN its constant dopamine Tldr: i actually agree with you, i just suck at DMC and have played alot more of the other dmc's so im just use to it by now

Until DefEd), but the story and characters are mostly garbage. If you took this series, stripped away the DmC name, give it a better story and give the characters more..... CHARACTER then this could become a contender for the best hack n slash.
I've played the DMC series throughout my childhood, and while DMC5 is my first pick in terms of story and gameplay ... DmC:DE is going to be a close second, those animations are just ... so ... floaty and oddly graceful, which I effin adore how long you can make the air combos and c'mon you get a freakin' scythe. Thank you so much for the praise, and as for how I'm able to do them? It just takes practice, man! There's a nice learning curve here. Jump cancelling as you know requires good memory and timing, and in DmC, it's no different, especially to pull it off in rapid succession. But since you just started, I trust you'll be able to get to a good level of skill here yourself! ^^

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for all the wonderful feedback. It truly means a lot. ^^ Anyway, as for my controller layout. It's actually the default one! The footage recorded in this video was from the PS4 version of DmC, aka the Definitive Edition. As for my skill, I honestly just practiced for years on end. I never stopped. I'm pretty passionate towards everything in life and so I channeled some of that energy and charisma into my play style in DmC. If you're gonna do something, either do it all the way, or don't do it at all. Thanks again, everyone.

this was my 2nd introduction to dmc, first being dmc4, i instantly fell in love with these 2 especially this one, the variety and range of combos is limitless and you'll find different ones everytime, which was cool, still yet to play dmc5 and gotta practice my combos

I'll be honest, I enjoyed this game more than the third and fourth parts, and I stamped it on all difficulties, and more than four times, as far as I remember. I can't believe that there are people who criticize the game for silly reasons, although its style of play is legendary and enthusiastic.
But seriously, let me explain you why DmC is a good game: - The level design is actually fun to play, because even DMC 3 puzzles got me tired and so confused, I got so exhausted playing it. While DmC actually has far much better level design and a mix of platformer, it has a nice experimenting between hack and slash with platformer which I honestly like it a lot. DmC is a good hack n slash with new experiments. - The soundtrack is good, Noisia and both Combichrist did lots of good job with it - The combat gameplay is far much better than the original DMC did. I mean, do you really want to attack enemies while the camera keeps moving on uncontrollably for no reason? - Rebellion's and Dante's design here looks cool too - I like Reboot Dante's characteristic here, but maybe it could have received better if how he speaks like some Original Dante like in the Barbas fight and when he appears on PlayStation All Stars game.

Cheeb I don't think the story was that bad I like the lore of the nephilim. My favorite chapter is when he meets that demon with the monicle. He described how the nephilim were hunted down because they had both powers of Angel and demon they were perceived as a threat.

Play thr Definitive Edition. You get all the staples and a classic Dante if ol Hot Topic Head aint vibin' with ya. Otherwise, i love this! Its a bit more streamlined and while some moves arent on the same button combos, it all feels damn good
Zapan Pluto Oup, I apologize for the late response on this. I figured better late than never. As an action game, DmC totally excels. As part of the DMC series, it honestly has my favorite gameplay out of any entry. I know that might sound crazy, but I really enjoy how DmC's combat has a smooth "free flow" feel to it. The basis of the game was never built around manual lock-on, so most of Dante's moves in this game can hit multiple enemies at once. I really like this. I also feel like there's greater emphasis on aerial combos. It felt like in DMC3-4, the only way to effectively stay in the air was via exploits (Guard Flying, for example). I can respect the amount of skill it takes to master a game with as much depth as DMC4, but I'm definitely in love with DmC's combat. I feel like it was made more accessible to a wider audience, and accessibility is by no means a bad thing. In my opinion, DmC has as much depth as you can manage, depending on your skill level. This new "Definitive Edition" with 20% Turbo and 60fps makes the game's true colors shine.
Try doing a full Vergil combo mad I seen your gameplay as him and it may not seem like it but there's still so much more you can do as him with the doppelganger and blistering swords.

The best DmC game. It's like an adopted son in a family who is disliked by the others but still do perform perfectly in anything in life.

I love DmC reboot, it's my favorite DMC.

But seriously, let me explain you why DmC is a good game:
- The level design is actually fun to play, because even DMC 3 puzzles got me tired and so confused, I got so exhausted playing it.
While DmC actually has far much better level design and a mix of platformer, it has a nice experimenting between hack and slash with platformer which I honestly like it a lot.
DmC is a good hack n slash with new experiments.
- The soundtrack is good, Noisia and both Combichrist did lots of good job with it
- The combat gameplay is far much better than the original DMC did. I mean, do you really want to attack enemies while the camera keeps moving on uncontrollably for no reason?
- Rebellion's and Dante's design here looks cool too
- I like Reboot Dante's characteristic here, but maybe it could have received better if how he speaks like some Original Dante like in the Barbas fight and when he appears on PlayStation All Stars game.
You can say what you want about this game but the air combos/jump cancels animation look so smooth in combinations.
They really do. Some of my favorite in the entire series

And you make a very good point, a lot of people tend to bash DmC without even playing it or understanding its gameplay. I should probably try Definitive Edition. I have it but haven't touched it at all.
+Valkyries That's understandable. See, you're a lot more civil than others... And you should try DE. 60fps, Bloody Palace for Vergil, DMC1 Dante skin, DMC3 Vergil skin, harder difficulties, manual lock-on, turbo mode for 20% increased combat speed, etc. Oh man, it's awesome, haha.

Evil Dead Thank you so much, man. I really appreciate that. I love classic Devil May Cry a lot, but I cannot deny my love for this game's combat system. To me, this is the best. The story might pale in comparison to the originals, and new Dante might not be the brightest crayon in the box, but this gameplay is just fucking sick.

Cheeb I don't think the story was that bad I like the lore of the nephilim. My favorite chapter is when he meets that demon with the monicle. He described how the nephilim were hunted down because they had both powers of Angel and demon they were perceived as a threat.
I think the only move variation in this game i like over version in the main series is shredder, the pose looks more stylish
This is my first DMC game, and good for me: I palyed the best DMC, bad for me: I can not dive into other DMC series games, like DMC 5

Play thr Definitive Edition. You get all the staples and a classic Dante if ol Hot Topic Head aint vibin' with ya. Otherwise, i love this! Its a bit more streamlined and while some moves arent on the same button combos, it all feels damn good

Zapan Pluto Oup, I apologize for the late response on this. I figured better late than never. As an action game, DmC totally excels. As part of the DMC series, it honestly has my favorite gameplay out of any entry. I know that might sound crazy, but I really enjoy how DmC's combat has a smooth "free flow" feel to it. The basis of the game was never built around manual lock-on, so most of Dante's moves in this game can hit multiple enemies at once. I really like this. I also feel like there's greater emphasis on aerial combos. It felt like in DMC3-4, the only way to effectively stay in the air was via exploits (Guard Flying, for example). I can respect the amount of skill it takes to master a game with as much depth as DMC4, but I'm definitely in love with DmC's combat. I feel like it was made more accessible to a wider audience, and accessibility is by no means a bad thing. In my opinion, DmC has as much depth as you can manage, depending on your skill level. This new "Definitive Edition" with 20% Turbo and 60fps makes the game's true colors shine.

Try doing a full Vergil combo mad I seen your gameplay as him and it may not seem like it but there's still so much more you can do as him with the doppelganger and blistering swords.
