This is so freaking awesome. If I wasn't a brazilian jiujitsu player already I would have loved to be a judo student. I can study now as a supplement for bjj but I feel it's really hard or impossible to be devoted to both. Judo is so cool though T_T

+1234kingconan I know. me too. Ive been trying to do more stand up starting and try and focus on sweeps and trips, but most guys just want to start on the knees and roll.

+1234kingconan you can practice Judo and focus on Ne-Waza (ground techniques). There is a lot of groundwork specialists in the Judo world! :)

I have to agree with ya there. For years ive been looking for a judo school in my area, and couldnt find anything. But a friend of mine got me hooked on BJJ. Loved it ever since. Though I would love to study Judo as well, seeing how I roll with a brown belt judo player. And the foot work on these guys are amazing. Quick

this is not true judo, olympic judo has ruined it. I went into a judo dojo the other day and got kicked out after my trial lessons. Apparently youre not able to do any of Sensei Jigoro's throws anymore. the instructor got angry when i performed a kata guruma on one of his students who competes

+chrisXDfull What is true Judo? Application of techniques with minimum force for maximum effect. Kata guruma isnt a "true" throw either so why complain. You follow the instuctions of the sensei of the training session and that is it.

Mr98vinni kata guruma was in the original 1895 Gokyo No waza which consisted of 42 throws. It is the 25th throw that is taught and is found under Dai Yonkyo which is the 4th group that consisted of 10 throws.
This was one of the original techniques created and utilised by jigoro kano. You can see it being beautifully executed Kyuzo Mifune countless of times.

Rules in Olympic judo have changed due to competitors safety and to avoid bent postures which in my personal opinion incentive a defensive attitude. That is an opinion as legitimate as yours and both should be respected. What is a fact is that you went to a dojo completely ignoring the practice dinamics and performed a penalized move which is dangerous especially because your partner was totally unaware of you grabbing his leg, if you did not know about these rules you probably have never attended to a dojo before which tells me you might not have the knowledge to make such a critic to Olympic judo with objective arguments.
