When my dog was sick with cancer I felt the same way--tied to staying by her side as much as possible, trying to encourage her to eat, even stressing about acting/sounding as cheerful as possible around her while my heart was breaking! She has been gone a few months and, while I can't say I miss the stress, I am a little lost without that kind of motivation. I'd be more lost except that last spring my daughter found a stray dog that (against my better judgment at the time) I ended up keeping. She has truly been my saving grace!

Michele, it honestly felt like you were literally sitting across from me and gabbing - like a true visit from a friend! I enjoyed my chips & dip whilst you had your apples & Biscoff! You are so honest about dealing with Coco and the reality of senior dogs....the pros and cons! You did a great job of explaining it all....thanks! If I could give you a big hug, I would🥰

When my two senior dogs passed away I thought exactly the same thing, oh now I don’t have to rush home all the time. A year later I got two Labrador puppies 🐶 and I’m rushing home again - I’m a sucker ha ha

I totally understand! About a year and a half ago, we lost our dog of 16 years. My entire life I've had dogs, but she lived the longest, of any. We live in the country so we used to always have 2 dogs. But when her older "brother" passed away at 15, a few years earlier, we decided one was enough. I would like to get another, but my husband feels like you do, so for the first time in my life, there are no dogs in it. We do have a cat, and she's a sweetheart. Loves to be in one of our laps if she can be. But she's about 11, and so far, she seems to be doing fine. But you never know. And I can't even imagine my life with no pets. So I do understand your sadness! So glad you still have Sandy! Remember, there's no wrong way to grieve. And it's perfectly ok.and normal if you still feel sad!!

In 2015 I lost my soul mate cat, Salem, to congestive heart failure. The night we buried him, between my maple tree and lilac bush, he sent me a very special sign. Salem and I loved the song, Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay. That night, he sent two shooting stars. I’d never seen a shooting star before that night and he sent two.
I’m so sorry for your aching heart. Cocoa is very missed by many. Rest easy, Cocoa.❤️💔

Hello Michele, I had a situation similar to you. My little guy also needed me to be with him. I would go out and hurry home because he couldn’t be alone long either. He eventually had a seizure which was heartbreaking and so very scary. He never really recovered he lost his sight and well I had to let him go.💔 very similar to what you went thru. I think. For quite a few years no vacations etc, just being there with my best friend. I would have done it forever. So I said all this to let you know I understand. Not only have you got a broken heart but now so many possibilities open up - it’s scary. Give yourself time, take it slow. I know cocoa would say “mom you’re going to be alright. Thank you for taking such good care of me. When you’re ready -go out and live for you now. I will see you again.” It will get easier Michele but it is a wound that will never fully heal. But you will be ok. MayGod be with you during this sad time.🤎 thank you for your wonderful channel. Cocoa is in your heart forever.

Omg. Yes it is definitely CoCo. My dogs and cats before they went to the other side left me with different kinds of signs. I know for a fact they let you know they are still there. They are letting you know that they loved you. As far as getting another pet. It’s to soon. You have to have your grief. It’s ok.❤🙏😇🐕

Greetings to you Michelle, it was nice seeing you. I love your honesty I understand exactly what you’re saying. I have a senior dog in my life is all about him right now. I’m very fortunate that I have a husband that helps but everything is planned around him and I’ve been doing this for at least five years or more now when it comes to the vets, the dog groomers everything has to be planned out his outings. I understand Michelle I totally get it but it’s well worth it that we share our lives with them. I wish you all the best that life has to offer you.

Yes, I understand. My 9 year old poodle has diabetes and we give him two insulin shots a day. We do whatever it takes to make him happy. We also follow his schedule. He rules the roost! But we let him because he brings us that much joy. Let yourself mourn as long as it takes. He was a part of you and your family. I have a different situation. I have aggressive breast cancer and will start chemo the first week of February. I want to be around for our little boy, as I am a part of his routine . Mourn, but be there for Sandra and the rest of your family. God bless.

    How old is Sandy?
We are in our seventies and we have one dog and one cat. In twenty nineteen, we had three dogs and two cats. Two of our dogs were seniors and they passed during the pandemic. We lost one of our cats to cancer. Our mini dachshund is 12. I know how hard it is. My husband says no more pets, after the ones we have, which makes me sad. It is hard, but
as you say, it is very expensive to have senior pets.

Michele I totally understand your anguish and pain losing cocoa. I too was taking care of my senior golden retriever his name was chase . Anyway it was so so taxing on me . He had arthritis in his hips he couldn’t walk barely at all so I would have to hold up his hind legs to go up 3 flights of stairs, we lived in an apartment at the time , he also lost control of his bowels . It was just so heartbreaking and so hard on him and me. I’m not complaining because he was worth everything I had to do for him it was just really hard , and like u I’m in my sixties. When I put him down it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do but I knew he was ready and so was I . I couldn’t see him suffer anymore . Michele he was my sidekick though for 14 years he has been by my side . Through everything together the good the bad and the ugly . I had to learn to live my life without him was and still is hard and it’s been 3 years . I wish u the best in your new way of life without him but he will always remain in your thoughts and heart . Also it was a definite sign from him because after I put chase down that night before I announced it on Facebook to friends and family and all of a sudden I get a message a picture of a golden retriever and the caption said . Don’t worry about me I’m happy and just wanted to wish u a good day . I swear to u Michele no one knew of his passing but me at that time so I know it was from chase . Anyway just want to say I love u and cocoa loves u too ❤
