As an Irishman I am proud to see an Irish flag on both Engines. Irishmen and women have a long tradition of working in the fire and police departments of New York. Long may it continue. We mourn the fallen heroes of 9-11 for evermore. Looking forwar to seeing the FDNY back in Dublin for St Patricks Day. The Guinness will be flowing!!
That's why I love the FDNY. They always respond with a ladder truck, an engine, and Battalion for just about every run they get. They don't cut corners by only sending one unit. Usually they will even send 2 ladders and 2 engines. God Bless FDNY!
This is really amazing there was no light before some time but after a particular time it got lit up with blue and red colors. I have seen this with my own eyes not the rescue operation but seen them going those fire trucks are elegant and graceful, they look very beautiful!!
You'd think people in NYC would be more cautious and more on edge because they live in a big city where anything can happen. Yet, you often find just the opposite. People walk around with their heads in the clouds and have no idea what's going on around them half the time. Maybe they see so much action that they just start to tune it out and ignore everything. They'll walk right across the path of an oncoming fire truck with lights on a sirens blasting! They are in their own little world.
i hate it when people run across the station when fire trucks are about to pull out...the lights and sirens are there to let people know there is an EMERGENCY
Bn 9 is the regular chief in this house-Bn 4 is relocated because Bn 9 is fighting a fire at another location. Anyone who knows this area would also note that this house is on 8th Ave/48th St Manhattan. (Times Sq) and these men know how to handle the crowds 24/7. And "no" moron they dont ram cars after 5-10 seconds.
well done lads i see engine 4 has a tri colour on the back of it. its good to know that you see the pride you have in your flag and our flag together keep up the good work i have an engine on my link not as good but its in the day have a look see what you think
You guys are awesome! Am also a ff. I will say I wish the people who constantly complain about response times would watch this video. Maybe then they would understand why our response times are sometimes not as quick as they would like to see. Some people don't understand the dilemma of waiting on civilians to get out of the way, whether they be on foot or in a vehicle!!!
You are right !! ;-) We were a group visiting the station when they got a call. That's the reason why you can see two different views of the run. And the engine you see is E 23 but it was a spare at this moment.
that is actually a swell idea, but no money in the budget. BUT..when a citizen gets struck and killed accidently, that's when they will FIND the money. Thats how government works sometimes unfortunately.
People can be idiots. Those who think you should wait for them to cross are usually the ones who complain the most when your not at their own emergency in seconds after your called.
i think its a usa thing not just new yorkers, been in london when the police have cleared an area, us brits moved as soon as the magic words were said, the usa tourists asked why and what if i don't before moving
LOL did they forget the two guys at the end? I hate to see ppl dont give a crap about FDNY after what they been through cout how many ppl walked past when they were comming out.
thats whats sad about it, ppl are ignorant. theres another video of a guy on a bike cutting in front of a moving ladder truck. i know ppl do what they want, but not even a loud ass bright lights big truck make ppl say shit let me stop for 1 second. the lady in this video that was gonna walk around the ppl wating and the fire fighter until he had to stick his hand out and stop her. it just sucks
i guarantee that if they full blast a heavy Q people would stop walking in front of them. the ambulance sounding sirens aren't intimidating enough to get peoples attention. so many emergency vehicules have the electronic siren. the fire trucks don't stand out as much. it blends in to much with the normal backround city noise. a nice fat Q would take care of that blending in problem
There is an attachment for the mechanical Q that directs all the sound forward though. The electronic Q is worth crap. The ambulances in my city have them and you cannot hear them while inside a vehicle with the windows up even without the radio on. Funniest thing I ever seen was the ambulance and an engine returning to station from a BS run sitting at a red light, ambulance catches a call into another district but the engine was not assigned. See next comment.
Why would those idiots on the sidewalk cross in front of 3 fire department vehicles that all have their lights flashing, and their sirens and horns blasting? Are those civilians deaf and blind, or just totally obvious to what's going on around them? A perfect example of people being in "La La Land" while walking down the street! Wake up people! A fire truck with lights & sirens on ALWAYS has right-of-way over anyone else.. including pedestrians!
@atreyufan11091 FDNY's old rigs (the ones in the video) are not equiped with a Q2B. they did away with them b/c to many little kids would go running into the streets to see the fire truck, and were getting hit by cars. the new rigs that are slowly coming in are equpied with the Q....incase you were wondering
Post limit ran out, anyway: The ambulance caught a run, turned on its E-Q siren while sitting at the red light. The car in front tried to move but couldnt due to cross traffic. Finally the engine co got smart, and stood on their Mechanical Q and all traffic at the intersection came to a stop allowing the ambulance through. Mechanical rules all the way.
I think actually ambulances can do that in NY but im not for sure. I know they can break out windows if your blocking a fire hydrant. God I would love to break the window of the idiot who parked his lambo in front of a hydrant : P
The 1 thing that surprises me is how the hell the rig drivers can negotiate their way thru all the traffic and still get to the fire or accident that traffic is brutal not to mention the idiot pedestrians go NYFD and NYPD
Man...that's got to suck! Having your trucks come out where everyone's walking. I feel for them! It's bad enough when you have idiots behind the wheel of a vehicle that won't get out of the way! Lay on tha air horns!
i see they have the tri colour on the back of the engine good to see that they think of us paddies and place are flag with pride on their engine keep up the good work check my link i have one in nyc but its in the daytime
Most of the trucks in my volunteer dept. have Q2's and that wail isn't a Q2. It's just an electronic siren. And those air horns are separate, actual, air horns, not the electronic air horn button on the siren box.
wow...i visit alot of stations and i never blok them...iff u know what and how to say u wont be considered an idiot to them so am i right? if i what im talking about would u accept public vistors and othe ff's 2nd where u from?
well you obviously haven't been to new york at all. the firefighters stop you when they're comin out. the first impression is to stop and wait but as a new yorker, you keep on goin by until they tell you to stop.
Hear those horns and see those lights? It means GET OUTTA THE WAY! Not take your time. Jeez...it was great to hear some people encourage the firefighters. "I know whos a hero to me! FDNY, 343!"
@MrEngine8Firefighter: Even more important, vehicular traffic move over on the road so the FDNY Trucks can get to the call ASAP. That is one reason firelanes were created on major NYC Streets and Avenues.
hey i am not in the fire company here in town but i have seen my dad go to some calls and they do not have to be any where near that pushy to get out of the station and on to the road going to the call
its just life in the big city. the jumpseat guys wait outside to ward people off and make sure the doors on the station close, or else someone will rob the s**t out of the place. yes, even after 911
The other reasons for "slow" are not to hit any civilians leaving the house and making sure everyone has gear on. You won't help anybody if you get stopped in route or arrive not prepared to help.
Lol the guy at 0:26. He didn't want to wait so he ran over. Now to your comment: You're right. Maybe they go together due the traffic. It takes minutes to come at action when is high traffic.
@1FireRescue1 It could of been extrication, as ladder trucks carry and jaws and stuff. Engine might go along for medical support or some deal. But most likley it was structure fire.
at the very end wtf was that one guy doing just sitting there? He had all his gear on except his coat but all the trucks had left.... was it the changing of the shift or something?
well, i didnt stay like right near the house lol... i was around times square, and was only around the house for like 1 hour. and 2.5 hours was enough time for me to want to kill ppl lol
i had to read your comment twice lol... i thought you were referring to the firemen... but then i realized that a few ppl broke threw the firemen and continued walking on the apron.. doh!
@1FireRescue1 hey dude. it was a AFA box we were going to. If it`s a high rise building we always got our ladder rig with. my beautiful Seagrave 4 ggg my rig my graver gg :)
@farmboy123456789101 No one will remember if it takes you 30 seconds more to arrive, everyone will remember if you cause an accident enroute and kill/injure a bystander
they should have little gate things that open, kinda like at a train crossing or something when the garage doors are open or something. wouldnt that be a good idea?
good job guys keep the city and the 5 boroughs safe! be careful everyone some ppl might yell about the FDNY- but they'd want you to show up if their shit was on fire
Were they Irish Tri-Colours alongside the "Stars n' Strips" at the rear of both the Truck & Ladder..? Can anyone explain their presence there and why.. (Connections..?)
2 things to say 0:45 1. that guy looks freaking mad 2. the two fire man at the end are like "S*** WE MISS OUR TRUCK WE NEED TO BE FASTER AT CHANGING OUR CLOTHS"
By the sounds of the first unit honking his horn, the traffic werent too eager to make way either. If must be very tempting to nudge the cars out of the way.
are FDNY ladders placed where they are for a reason, meaning that they dont have a tiller in midtown cause of the buildings or is it random placement of apparatus?
you are right men in holland those thing sucks. i want to life in Los Angeles, when i'm old enough i'm gonna do that je hebt gelijk man in nederland zuigen die dingen. ik wil in Los Angeles wonen, als ik oud genoeg ben ga ik dat doen.

The brilliant lights and sirens!! Just beautiful
Between the sirens and the airhorns, you captured this perfectly! good job!
gotta love how the engine officer uses the loudspeaker to say"GET OUT OF THE ROAD".
New York pedestrians -- not even 50,000 pounds of rolling thunder scare them. Nice clip from 54-4. God bless FF Joe Angelini, Jr., deceased 9/11/01.
i hate it when people run across the station when fire trucks are about to pull out...the lights and sirens are there to let people know there is an EMERGENCY
"get out of the way" *airhorn frenzy*, there should be a law against people walking infront of emergency vehicles like that...
Jesus! don't you guys care about the FDNY? You're paying thier Slaries! The Least you can do it let them get out of the station!
4 Truck, thats when you use that nice shiny Q on your front bumper!
NYC needs to allow the Q-sirens again, a blast of that sucker and that'll move people out of the way fast.
why is it so? Is it some kind of standard rotation or B9 simply got broken, stolen or damaged??
Actually this station is right off Times Square and most of the folks down there are not New Yorkers but tourists.
You are right !! ;-)
We were a group visiting the station when they got a call. That's the reason why you can see two different views of the run.
And the engine you see is E 23 but it was a spare at this moment.
whats the engine 54 horn name?
how come the fdny doesnt really ever use the q siren?
Thank you!
I'll try to have some more in october!
Olivier.
Relocations are often used to maintain response time when a lot of companies are out in the same area.
Why FDNY don't using Q2b Siren?
An another guy filmed the same from the other side^^
Search: FDNY E54 L4 B9
FDNY should go Pierce
that is actually a swell idea, but no money in the budget. BUT..when a citizen gets struck and killed accidently, that's when they will FIND the money. Thats how government works sometimes unfortunately.

I hate to see ppl dont give a crap about FDNY after what they been through cout how many ppl walked past when they were comming out.
Dumb dee Dumb I am a stupid NYC ped, I am completely ignoring the flashing littles, loud horns, and wallying sirens because I am special.
NICE VID!!!
thats whats sad about it, ppl are ignorant. theres another video of a guy on a bike cutting in front of a moving ladder truck. i know ppl do what they want, but not even a loud ass bright lights big truck make ppl say shit let me stop for 1 second. the lady in this video that was gonna walk around the ppl wating and the fire fighter until he had to stick his hand out and stop her. it just sucks

it woulda been better if the officer of ladder 4 woulda stomped on the Q and horn. lol. scare the crap outta some people.

@acboy40 None of these. The Engine is a 2003 Ferrara and the Ladder is a 2001 Seagrave primary affected to The Rock.
First because they have to maintain pedestrians "out of the way", and after because they have to close the doors.
I think actually ambulances can do that in NY but im not for sure. I know they can break out windows if your blocking a fire hydrant. God I would love to break the window of the idiot who parked his lambo in front of a hydrant : P

That's just because they don't have to fight to have their sit in the truck, like in little towns...
are there battalions at every fire house??
STUPID PEOPLE BLOCKING THE WAY!!!
REAL HEROS AT WORK!!
engine, truck and chief rolled..and 2 members seem like they got left behind..ahh 54-4 the show piece
2 things to say 0:45 1. that guy looks freaking mad 2. the two fire man at the end are like "S*** WE MISS OUR TRUCK WE NEED TO BE FASTER AT CHANGING OUR CLOTHS"

Amazing how many people had to be told to stop when the doors were open and the lights flashing. People are so stupid its a wonder society functions
@FIREFIGTER301 your right, its "way to quick or way to dangerous" until its you that called 911, then its "why did it take you so long to get here?"
Its not a matter of getting hurt or not going fast enough, it has to do with the fact that when you run 35 alarm drops in a shifts it gets redundant.
ya i hate people who like can put their boring "so important" lives on hold for 2 minutes so the firemen can come out with out them getting in the way
i think it was more like around 5 ppl were out 3 on the side of the car and 2 or 3 by the house
Y are people so in a rush u can see they have a call with there lights on, but everybody is in such a hurry that they dont care for anyone else.
Lol, I live in Miami and once i saw a Fire truck and the guy in front of the truck stopped driving and the truck almsot rammed into him 0.0
who has the nerve to go in front of a truck with full sires lights and horns blazing and they have to say get out of the road.who
That one fireman should have thumped on those people who wouldn't move back. Sometimes a beating is the best learning tool.
i love how the people are like ah there is no rush even though the fire truck is about to hit them... talk about oblivious
@swatlover16 Go where your heart truely desires. No matter what believe in yourself, cause people like me believe in you.
i'm debating between being on the swat team and being a firefighter. today i'm on firefighter side but others i'm on swat
lol, i cant believe the guy has to tell the people to get out of the way, its unreal how inconsiderate people have gotten.
Great indeed but 2 Q'S would have rocked the peoples worlds and made them move better
no they're not a bunch of idiots
they do have common sense, notice they get out of the way when the trucks leave
I wonder what FDNY is gonna use now since their are no more Excursions being made
The two FF behind were FFs from E23 who were here for baby resucitation training.
I dont understand why the hell the people are still crossing while they are blaring sirens in their face!
I think the guys you see at the end are on a different apparatus other than one of the two that went out.
German Berufsfeuerwehr is much faster, takes them 30 seconds to get in thei cars and make them move ;D
so that they know that the ppl are outa the way and to prevent ppl from sneaking into the firehouse
people are just plain stupid, if anyone here has worked emergency services, we know that VERY well.
They are bad but check out some of the London Fire Brigade videos, the people there are even worse!
@Rodrigov500
Really ? They loaded in the trucks and were on the move in less than a minute....
@maxzargo 450,000 persons did the same thing that you did to see this vid.
i like the seagrave type fire trucks
its fdny signature type of fire truck
you are right men in holland those thing sucks.
i want to life in Los Angeles, when i'm old enough i'm gonna do that
je hebt gelijk man in nederland zuigen die dingen.
ik wil in Los Angeles wonen, als ik oud genoeg ben ga ik dat doen.
They should set up a hose and the people that keep walking in front of truck will get blasted.
If you hear the siren and your that close and you still don't move? ..the audacity of people...
@eaglet888 Just ask a trucker. I'm sure he/she will let you blow the horn a couple times.
You are right ! We were touring at some stations that night !
Olivier.
