I got to see Buddy in a great show years ago opening for Sinatra at the New Haven Coliseum with another one of my heroes on guitar, Tony Mottola. Still the best live shows I ever saw.

4:16 is insane. The coordination at that speed is something that only the GOAT drummer can do.

Nothing like Buddy and his bands, before or since. As many have said, truly one of a kind.

He can really inspire any musician regardless of genre, if they listen to the key elements of being a musician. Music is an art form and life dedication to the music, not theatrics and putting on a show, just really good music.

My trombone teacher is in the section here-Jim Martin, on bass trombone. Fantastic player, great guy. Performing and teaching in the St. Louis area ever since Buddy passed. Jim is an asset to any band or orchestra he's in, and music students in the 'Lou are lucky to have him.

He lives on in these videos. A must read is his autobiography written by his close friend, Mel Torm'e. It explains everything brilliantly. " Traps, the drum wonder"

There is one more video of this chart and buddy. On that one he is playing for the Jerry Lewis Telethon and
Mda on Sept 1, 1986. Looks like this video might be just a little later than that one.
