Very well put together and informative video Damo! Certainly explains things in "Layman's Terms" for us all to understand. I wasn't aware of the number of races per week affecting the overall weekly result worked the way it did. 👍🏻
Really enjoyed this video, i just recently got back into iracing and have been taking it way more seriously. I have always wondered about division and champ points. But when you broke down the 4 race block chunks and how they factor the average, i could only think about how i was doing 8 pcup races a day last week on my days off. I think i totaled 31 pcup races last week 😅
Genuinely never knew about the more than 4 races in a week! I've no idea if I've ever gone above that. Though I've rarely considered the championship and points.
This is a great video. I have found the championships and points quite confusing for some time (I've had iRacing for seven years...) Thank you for the info. I have subbed :)
Very useful. Today I learned something. I'd appreciate a similar look under the bonnet at SR. And while you're there, if you can shed any light on why being collateral damage to the acts of artless idiots is so costly for the victim, that'd be legendary.
Just checked in as I hadn't been notified of anything for a while and am ashamed to say I wasn't even subbed! 🤦🤯 Sorry mate. I could've sworn I was from way back 🤷♂️
Great video but I’m not sure this is the right approach towards iRacing for most people! I understand that Race Points and Championships do matter but for the average driver who only has a few hours a week for track time, I would not be telling those people they can only enjoy their favourite simulator for a maximum of 4 races a week! No matter what division you are in, it is unlikely you’ll become a professional sim racer out of it so I wouldn’t care about your championship points guys! Just have fun and try to act professional on the track for the sake of the other racers, that is all that matters in my honest opinion!
That was interesting to watch although I have to admit I’ve never worried about my points or championship standing. However I would be interested in a video on how i rating is calculated after each race as may times I have improved my position by the end of the race or finished higher than my ranking at the start of the race and yet my rating goes down. Thanks.
It's a complex system and I'll be sure to explain it in a future video! The basics are that it's an Elo-style system - in the meantime check this out as it may help: www.chess.com/terms/elo-rating-chess#how-does-elo-work
iRating is how splits are calculated, so for say there is 40 people joining a race, the max car limit for the race sessions is 22, so this will split them into 2 groups of 20, you can't have a beginner in the same race as Max Verstappen so iRating is used as way to split the drivers up into groups of similar skill level. So for say the top group with have a SoF ( Strength of Field ) of 3300 iRating, while the bottom group with be a SoF of 1600 iRating. etc
Haha yeah I wanted some footage of a turn 1 crash so jumped in to spectate a bottom split f4 session at Navarra and just put the camera on one of the guys at the back. Voilà. 🤣
It's all designed for you to keep paying the subscrition. Be it IR, SR, Championships or seasons. They want you to chase numbers and keep feeding them money.
The video many of us needed but were never brave enough to ask for!! Thanks Damien 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Glad to help!

Cheers Nick hope you enjoyed watching along!
Best Explinaition I have seen of how the weekly points work.
Thanks!

Ah well glad I've taught at least one viewer something new! Thanks for watching mate, hope you're doing ok 😊
Great video Damien! Very informative!
Thanks buddy!

Thanks Steven! Happy to help!
Thanks! Finally, I understand.
Glad I can help!
I just like racing.
I just wanna go fast

Ah the Artless Idiot is a special breed of racer that definitely deserves a look!
SR is another thing we'll delve into for sure

Haha no probs bud, thanks for dropping in!

I didn't interpret it as a recommendation towards any approach. Just informative about the way it works for those who are interested.
Lol, Would have been nice if you had picked the euro V8 supercars 😅 I managed to finish the season off on top😁
Haha I'll do a European edit of the vid 🤣
Congratulations dude 🏆
2nd in PCC (mx5) this season by 3 points! OUCH
Oooooft

@@DC_F1Thank you very much, I shall read it and look forward to a future video about it.
I came for the points breakdown but I stayed for the Excel Spreadsheet.
All the coolest race drivers love spreadsheets, right?
@@DC_F1 Exactly.
this was more helpful than i thought.. also.. does it count if i do offical races during week 13 if i missed them during the regular season?
If they show "Ranked" and have enough participation (usually 6 entrants) then yes, they are official and will. Unranked events are not.
One question....What is the actual point of IR points rating? Does it just put you in races with faster drivers that are harder to beat?
iRating is how splits are calculated, so for say there is 40 people joining a race, the max car limit for the race sessions is 22, so this will split them into 2 groups of 20, you can't have a beginner in the same race as Max Verstappen so iRating is used as way to split the drivers up into groups of similar skill level. It matches you to the most appropriate group when there are more drivers signed up than can fit into one grid.
What’s the point of being higher ranked in the division? Do you get any rewards from it aside from ranking? Is there any champ races at the end?
If I play 3 series in a season - can I play 4 races in each series per week without each effecting the other?
Yeah that will be fine!
7:30 average nevarra moment, oh my god that track is awful
Haha yeah I wanted some footage of a turn 1 crash so jumped in to spectate a bottom split f4 session at Navarra and just put the camera on one of the guys at the back. Voilà. 🤣
Nice video, but the musaz is really annoying
Roger that!

Cool content. Musics not for me either
Very annoying background music. Isn’t your message the most important….?
Thanks for the feedback 😃
Just for more feedback... I can hear the background music but your voice is a lot louder so no issue from my perspective!
@@-JackK2412 cheers Jack, I appreciate your feedback before I tweak things too much!
@@DC_F1 no worries just thought I'd mention as everyone may not experience the same sound levels. The music is rubbish though 😜
@@-JackK2412 🤣
Great video Damien! Now that I understand, let’s go for the division championship… 🫣
I'll race you to it!
