In the House of the Dragon season 2 finale, in House of the Dragon season 2, episode 8, Rhaenyra Targaryen will take King’s Landing. Rhaenyra Targaryen and Daemon Targaryen, along with many other dragons and dragonriders, and joined by Corlys Velaryon’s forces from the sea, will take King’s Landing from Aegon Targaryen and the Greens.
In House of the Dragon season 2, episode 6, Daemon Targaryen will continue assembling an army at Harrenhal. Throughout season 2 of the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, Aemond Targaryen and Criston Cole will assemble the Green army and march to Harrenhal with the dragon Vhagar to confront Daemon, leaving King’s Landing defenseless. Rhaenyra will also fly to Harrenhal on her dragon Syrax to make a plan with Daemon about how to take King’s Landing. Before Aemond and Criston reach Harrenhal, Daemon and Rhaenyra fly with their dragons to the capital and take the city in the Fall of King’s Landing. Aegon Targaryen escapes.
The aftermath of the fall of King’s Landing and Rhaenyra Targaryen sitting on the Iron Throne, as well as the Battle of the Gullet in which Prince Jacaerys dies, have been moved to season 3 of House of the Dragon.

@@fruitghoul397 yup, and S3 is supposed to be the final season unless they make up storylines to make the show longer but I doubt they will. So it would make it to where the first season ended with the death of Rhaenyra's two sons, while the final season would begin with the death of another one of her sons. Plus the capture of another.

@@reek3654 There's no way they manage to fit everything in season 3. Consider that, for reasons of budget, they can't have more than a certain numbers of scenes with dragons in a single season. We're most likely gonna see the Battle of the Honeywine, the Battle of the Gullett, the First Tumbleton and the Battle Above the Gods Eye in Season 3 (Probably pushing the Fall of Dragonstone to Season 4). Which is already an enormous amount of things going on. Then Season 4 is gonna be from the Storming of the Dragonpit to the Hour of the Wolf, being the final season. Both seasons are probably gonna be made of 8 episodes again. Less episodes but a higher budget for each episode.
The fact that Daemon is trying to rebuild Harrenhal, a castle that took 40 years to complete, just shows how mad he is.
This is what I'm saying! Just put up some tents, Daemon.

He's not trying to rebuild it. He's making it functional to host an army. Kitchens, armories, stables, etc. Still alot of work, but required.

The Greens parading dragon’s head, the very symbol of their house, through the capital just goes to show how they are more Hightower than Targaryen. On top of that, they showed smallfolk the dragons are not Gods and are not unkillable. Talk about foreshadowing of the storming of the Dragonpit where smallfolk will kill many dragons

@@d3adpegasusLmao, because it's true. Dragons are propaganda tools not just for team green and team black but for all Targaryens as it is the sign of their strength. The smallfolk seeing that dragons aren't invincible and with them feeling the tax increase, they will ultimately blame their suffering on these creatures hence the storming of the dragon's pit. This is why, after the dance of dragons, Targaryens basically lost their prestige with their dragons dying out. I'm not team black nor team green basically I'm team casualties of the war. Fyi, both the blacks and the greens(more like redpills lol) have no original thoughts.
If true, if there was ever a doubt till now, replacing Nettles with Rhaena is the moment this show instituted a stiff distinction between show canon vs book canon.

In the books Aegon the younger was older. They just showed him as a toddler maybe 2 or 3 years old. I don’t think a 3 year old is going to mount the dragon and fly to Dragonstone like he did in the books.
Joffrey is the right age to mount his dragon and fly back to Dragonstone. Just as they changed Rhaena and Nettles story, I think it will be Joffrey and Aegon who fly back. Especially because they have focused on Jace and Joffrey several times. That goodbye hug made it seem that way. Maybe Joffrey can only save one of the boys. That way Aegon still grows up with the same guilt.
Even Joffrey in the show is younger (6) and smaller than Aegon (9). And both show Tyraxes and Stormcloud are baby hatchlings who should be too small to ride.
Which is sad. Little Stormcloud was the bravest dragon for me! Only 7-ish years old, and never been ridden as he was too small, he took a bolt to the neck, several arrows to his belly, and still managed to take his Aegon from midst battle in Narrow Sea (far far away from Dragonstone than Gullet) back home. Saves his beloved and dies.
@@hafsahassan394 Aegon and Viserys have to be between 2-3yrs old in the show. No way Aegon flys back on a dragon that is 3 years old. I bet they are going to make it Joffrey and Aegon fly back together living Viserys behind. Aegons story is too important to remove that piece of the story altogether for him.
We are supposed to see Viserys I in a flashback this season. Maybe Season 3 will have Daemon realizing his son Viserys is lost because he wasn’t there to protect him.

Nettles being replaced but Rhaena is a smart move for me. She is hardly circumstantial. Cool but not that relevant. Using Rhaena will also explain why Rhaenyra hated (Nettles) her, because she abandoned her post to guard the future(kids). Instead of in the books wherein she hated Nettles just because of pure jealousy. Given that her war was more about the prophecy. It makes lovers quarrel very petty

I think they could give Rhaena something to do and still give us Nettles. Nettles is a conceptually cool character who's ability to ride a dragon has massive lore implications. I guarantee she would have been a fan favorite. And it's weird that, after pushing to make the show more inclusive and diverse, they are going to cut the one major character from the story who is unequivocally a person of color in the book.
I also think the "you must have a dragon to be badass" message that this change implies is horribly misplaced. Rhaena's plot could have been about her winning the loyalty of Lady Jeyne and convincing the Knights of the Vale to march out to aid the Blacks, in the end proving that she is her own power and doesn't need to be a dragonrider to be a valuable member of House Targaryen. But instead, this reaffirms the idea that dragons are what matter, and that Rhaena was useless before she got her dragon.
As for the Nettles jealousy thing, they could EASILY rewrite that for the show. There are many reasons why Rhaenyra might start to suspect that her Dragonseeds are not loyal and may think that Nettles is plotting to betray her. Especially because Nettles could represent a counterargument to Aegon's Dream: if a lowborn nobody can ride a dragon, does the Targaryen house actually mean anything? That could be an interesting point that makes Rhaenyra question her purpose for fighting the war.
In the end, I don't think the change adds anything to the show. It takes away a cool character that we'll never have and it undermines an important subtext present in the source material. I don't think it will be awful; I'm sure it will still be an impactful moment and non-book readers will love it. But it's a frustrating change nonetheless.

Ok so is anyone else wondering how Aegon is going to be mounted on a dragon fighting over Dragonstone just a few episodes after barely surviving Rooks Rest, when in the book he was basically handicapped the remainder of his life and Sunfyre could never be serviceable as a fighting dragon again? If this leak is correct, the tv show is basically saying to hell with the book😮
The Aegon leak will probably be much later in the story. And I'm fairly certain Sunfyre and Aegon DO kill Moondancer in the books.

Apparently he was recuperating at Kings Landing for almost a year before Rheanyra took it and he fled to Dragonstone. Guess the tv show is covering quite a bit of time over just a couple of episodes so it threw me off
@Rockwall69 It seems they're speeding things up quite a bit and moving the timeline around as well. I mean the Battle of the Gullet AFTER the Fall of King's Landing? Seems a bit confusing, but I'm not too bothered by the changes overall.

Unpopular Opinion: I think removing Nettles was a smart move. We've seen enough of Daemon's relationships, his (lack of) domesticity, and his inner turmoil. Like, really, I think most of us are over it.
I feel like Nettles would either be redundant to show-only fans, or a "step-backward" from the narrative. I get that she's a beloved character, but I completely understand why they would remove her and delegate her story line to already established characters, giving them larger parts to play, and reducing the already large cast of significant characters.
I was terrified we were not going to get Daeron Targaryen. "The Blue Queen", Tessarion, is my favorite dragon. It sucks we don't get to see what she looks like at Meleys' age, both carrying the title of "Queen".
Aside from Caraxes, the female dragons seem to be the more combative and fierce.
I'm REALLY hoping Vermithor's entrance is EPIC; Daemon singing High Valeryian to him, then this massive gout of flame, THEN his teeth that looked like a mouthful of arming swords. Caraxes and Vhagar are fierce, but something about Vermithor gave me chills. I like Hugh Hammer's character... I hope they change his story, a bit.
I'm not sure what to think about Ulf and/or Silverwing. Ulf's "good ol boy" attitude is a bit off-putting; seems like he needs to be the center of attention and feels entitled to take as he pleases. Then, he's the first to fold and hail Aegon II, right after declaring Jace in line for the throne. Untrustworthy. Is Silverwing even a match for Vermithor?? I'll have to look that up.

I have no idea how they are going to do the show without Daeron Targaryen. Without him, the Hightowers don't secure a few key victories in the Reach like Honnywine where the Hightowers were getting wrecked by Beesbury but Daeron comes to save the day with his dragon, Tessarion. Hightower army grabs a few more levies from the region with the win. Without the victories, the Hightowers can't reach Tumbleton where they flip Hugh and Ulf over to the Greens by promising them titles and lands if they agreed to flip. I wouldn't be surprised if the show completely skip these events and they magically gain control of all the Reach and have them move the Hightower army right into Tumbleton where Hugh and Ulf flip to Green. Daeron and Tessarion are also important because of Addam and Seasmoke get to have one of the best dragon fights with Tessarion and Vermithor.

Now she will also get Rhaena’s Sheepstealer, Addam’s Seasmoke, Hugh’s Vermithor and Ulf’s Silverwing. What are they waiting for to attack? Green’s really have only 1 dragon, Vhagar. Sunfyre is almost dead, Helaena’s Dremfyre is useless due to her rider. Whats the deal here?

Even after the Dance, House Targaryen still believe in the blood of dragon even after its extinction that's why the birth of Daenerys' dragons was very significant in the story of the song of ice and fire. It really solidified the meaning of The Blood of the Dragon and the Prince that was Promise.

Not skip, just change the order. Gullet happens in season 3, makes sense though, they want to keep Jacaerys a few episodes longer and also would be kinda bad if they ended the season with another Rhaenyra’s son’s death, exactly how season 1 ended. I like it
We are getting ready to see the Lannisters and Starks battle in episode 7. That’s why In this video you see Jason Lannister looking like that.
They are going to put off Coles death til probably at least end of Season 3. He is a main character. 3 is going to start with the Gullet. Then you get all those battles and the dragon seeds turning.
Ryan Condal has said he might go past 4 seasons now. So lots of time. Tumbletown battle you can count on since we now know Hugh’s wife has family there. Maybe foreshadowing for his turn. Maybe she is sent there while he claims a dragon.
They are veering hard away from the books so major events we will see. It is Rhaena instead of Nettles that leaves with Daemon. Rhaenas death that is ordered. Which is why we just saw Laena ask about the girls.

Though, in all seriousness, I think she still has to spiral into tyranny at least a little bit otherwise the story won't be executed properly. The whole point of the Dance was that neither Aegon nor Rhaenyra deserved to be on the Throne because they both sucked. The season she spends sitting on the Throne should showcase why she is incompetent as a ruler otherwise her death will just be one of sorrow instead of being one in which she kinda deserved it and/or brought it upon herself while having some of the audience hate her by the time she dies. It's not a story of good (the Blacks) vs evil (the Greens). It's a story of incompetent vs incompetent.
Rhaenrya sits the throne for 6 months. Rumor has it that the iron throne will not accept any person it cuts, which happens to Rhaenrya when she sits on it.
Its a throne made of swords, it can cut anyone. This is just a saying, its not true. If it is true then it means Robert Baratheon is a good king because it didn't cut him

Robert Baratheon win a war for the Throne ( Power ) so he was worthy for the role of king despite being a pretty bad king.
Aegon II is the same. The Throne never cut him because with his own rules , he was suited to be king.
It’s actually a metaphor very important in GOT, the Throne isn’t supposed to be for the « good » but for the one capable to do everything to achieve « Power »

i honestly expected the exact opposite keeping in mind the first season's pace, i really thought that this season would have end with aemond's and daemon's deaths, thinking on the showrunners perspective though, that would have been reaaaally expensive, a lot of really huge battles in between. Imagine it for a second, the best adaptation in history.

Rhaenyra cutting herself upon the Iron Throne just proves King Aegon was is the righftul. It is said in Westeros that when the Throne scratches you, it is rejecting you. We saw King Aegon practically lay down upon the Throne and never got scratched.

The showrunner obsession's with the black to become the main character must stop or the whole plot of the story will be lost and must adapt the source material as is which fans anticipated so much

Rhanerya didnt do much in the book but the show is trying to portray her like the good guy wanting peace rather in the books she called for the head of the child and caused my characters to die but in the show they are forcing us to like her which is kinda obvious and you can see it

@lanascherryflvrduche You'd think they'd be smart enough to understand how bad they messed up trying to cram what could have been 40 episodes into 14 (season 7 and 8). I personally think they already messed up HOTD with the huge lack of multi layered characters and 2 or 3 more main plot characters that could have played major roles and added to the depth of the series. I know Fire&Blood is more of a diary from maesters but they could have went in depth and made season 1 into at least 2 seasons and the same with season 2.
Already Budget issues. They cut out 2 episodes this season. I expect the next seasons with be even less episodes.
For real. What budget issues if you cut 2 episodes from the season altogether, and make us wait 2 years for it. I hope they don’t do the same for season 3

The mention of Otto’s death being replaced with Helaena’s doesn’t sound right. We know how she dies in the books, I can definitely see it being different for the show, but I would hope Rhaenyra isn’t responsible as even she admitted in Episode 2 that Helaena was an innocent (I’m well aware that even innocents aren’t safe in HotD but still).

What I think will happen is Otto gets called back to the capital because of Aegon’s injuries and Aemond taking over as Regent (plus the plot demands it lol). He’s in the right place at the right time, and is executed just like in the books. I see Helaena surviving the fall of King’s Landing, but again we’ll have to wait and see.

First off this is all based on the fact that this is EXACTLY what happened in the books. However, we know the show does not always follow the book since we know for a fact that Rhaenerya's children did NOT sail to Pentos, as they did in the book. They are in the Vale with Lady Jayne. They are not in a boat sailing to Pentos. So how exactly are they to be taken on a boat? And Damon may be in Harrenhal but he is not working on behalf of his wife. He is making a mess of things....and we have not seen anything with regards to Nettles who is the one who claims Sheepstealer. SO make no assumptions and do not assume these are leaked scenes. Martin is infamous for changing things.

It isn't just King's Landing and Dragonstone you know.
