  • If you have a pesky seat switch problem (mine went back but not forward), this to me is the easiest way to replace it, take out the seat. Four bolts later and you don't have to work upside down in the dark. And you can clean out all those wayward french fries. The switch cost about $160, so at least this saves who knows how much to pay someone to do it. Sorry this isn't the best quality video and disclaimer, while I find this fun and rewarding, I am not a mechanic, so do all this at your own risk. It really isn't that bad, I am just super careful not to break other parts in the process.

Thank you so much for your video. My 2006 Mustang drivers seat valance came loose at the front. I had no idea how to fix it. I searched for days trying to find instructions. Your video shows the little metal clip that I didn’t know was missing. Now I need to find it!! lol!

Thanks for showing the clips on the panel that makes removing it much easier. Now I can replace the switch. This was exactly what I was looking for.

Hands down the best video on this subject on RUclips.
    Very thorough.

You motivated me to get mine done.
I removed the seat on my 05 GT as well. Just makes the task much easier.
      Thanks again for the video.

Thank you so much. I went through several videos for the purpose of getting a step by step removal instruction to replace my switch. Some already had the seat removed and others quickly briefed over certain steps as if assuming all viewers knew them prior to starting. I need to look no more thank you. Your video was informative and covered all steps required to perform the task as titled. Good video shots that were clear and overall it easy to follow. You may not have had the proper nomenclature to certain parts but your video coverage and explanation clarified everything you were talking about and that’s the important thing. Viewers should have no problem understanding what your talking about. Should you be hassled by any arm chair idiots who use the tube to prove their wannabe knowledge about identifying parts pay no attention. Again great job and thank you very much.

With seat in the car, I ended up having middle and back clips out, couldn't move front one but I was able to get the switch out. Carefully disassembled the switch and cleaned with IPA and compressed air, it started working.

Very informative video!! Thank you.I need to change my power seat switch and was wondering how to remove it. By the way, I plan to try to clean the switch contacts before i spend the $150 for a new switch.

This worked for me. Only thing to add is Amazon has the switch for $27.

Thank you. I don't like hearing or seeing myself on camera, but I am getting a little better at the video/audio. Just hoping I can help someone, maybe a little.

By the way. To get that panel off, there is a Phillips screw on the backside. Take it out and the clip at the front and the whole panel comes off.

I was afraid (being a bit of a clutz myself), that I might break the panel, not being able to see all the clips - warnings from other You Tubers. So I went the tedious route. But cheers to those who can do it and do it well :-)

Thank you for this video. So I did replace the power seat button today, where I messed up was the "tang" (someone elses words, probably right, i dunno) broke off when trying to push the front piece or clip back in. I don't even know if i saw one of those metal clips or not. Any advice on how to fix that without having to replace the entire valance?

    • @fixitgirl9000
      @fixitgirl9000  Год назад

You might be able to do something like I did in my vacuum cleaner repair, where you use some other hardware like a screw or wire to secure the clip onto the plastic valance (probably only possible to do if you have the seat completely out). Wouldn't look great with a screw head on the outside, but it might not be so bad. So sorry!

This is a common problem with 2005-2010 Mustangs and the switch does not need to be changed in most cases. A little WD40 on the switch contacts will fix the problem for a few years, There are several videos on this issue

@@user-xv8fk8ok8y It did work, perfectly. Hope you got yours fixed, and hope you didn't have to buy a switch. I have a manual transmission, and a friend moved my seat too far back for me to reach the clutch. I didn't have time to play with the existing switch and risk it not working, so I bought a new one.

@@timothyault7512 I watched the videos on dismantling the switch and cleaning the contacts, and chose not to do this. I was constrained by time, as this is my only car, and I wasn't sure that I could get the switch apart without breaking something (and didn't want to go to all the trouble for possibly a more temporary fix). I chose to keep the old switch and dismantle it later and keep as a backup.
