The practicality and killer looks easily offsets the bit of laginess present in the engine...my reason to buy this will be - its off road capability, good room for family, unique looks, practicality and most importantly after sales support🔥🔥...will be interesting to see how M.S prices this🙏

Just ordered one. my fifth jimny! Jungle green. You do not need a turbo in this SUV NA more reliable. Too fast will cause this car to be dangerous as the suspension will not cope. It's is more fun to rev the engine more hence getting the speed close to what you get in the turbo, ( More fun to drive a slow car fast!) Just make sure your tires and brakes are adequate.

Size..."Coochie- Coochie" (😄👌 epic!) ...

Pricing is going to be the biggest determinant here. In almost every other way the Thar appears to be the better investment. This model will succeed only if they have atleast one variant below 10 lakhs. I am expecting the base variant to cost 8.99 Lakh ex-showroom

Jimny is better than Thar in every way except for the safety and engine power.. Even then, the power to weight ratio is at par with the Thar...
    1. Better mileage
    2. Better after sales
    3. Much more reliable
    4. Better resale
    5. Better off road capabilities than the Thar
    6. World wide recognition
Another point to mention, most people just purchase the Thar just for it's road presence and spend most of their time in the city.. True and Hardcore off roaders and enthusiasts will surely go for the Jimny...

8.99 lakh ex showroom for the base will definitely seal the deal for jimny , the SuV is based on ladder frame chassis which by the way are comparatively cheaper to manufacture as compared to other suvs . Also maruti has not added many luxurious features to it like , centre arm rest and rear ac vents . With the kind of tyres obviously smaller footprint , jimny's base Zeta MT at max should be 9.99 lac exshowroom ,if not 8.99 lac exshowroom. Anything above that , people can go for the thar as it offers better toad road presence and power figures .

Only a miniscule would look for functionality.

The Director of Suzuki who thinks he's a famous top gun pilot thinks this is a some type of g-wagon, delusional. Explains the unbelievable and ridiculous decision re. that rear seat belt alarm.Clearly Mr Top Gun won't be driving one himself.

If MSIL anyway wanted to position this as a 'premium' & niche product, not expecting much sales; why go through such a long & tedious process of design & engineering over the past few years to develop the 5-D, why not just sell the 3-D as is & price it slightly lower?
And if they've now made the 5-D, then why aren't they offering a lower priced 2WD variant & selling more of them?
Another one being the fact that it's under 4m in length but they only offer the 1.5L engine, they could've atleast given the option of the 1.2L & the 1L turbo. (Ditto for the Brezza)
Just offer all these, milk the product as much as you can, sell it like hot-cakes & earn more moolah; It's a win-win situation for both the consumer & Maruti, them not doing so confuses me to no end!
In my ideal world, (one can always dream!) they should've had the following variants & engines on offer for 3-D as well as 5-D:
    1L turbo
    1.2L
    1L turbo, without 4x4
    1.2L, without 4x4
Also the Kei-car version spec (no flared wheel arches) for the people who will use it on narrow city roads)
And yes I know making so many different combinations isn't feasible for a manufacturer

Among the good things Jimny gets is a full metal roof which should be a boon when weather goes bad. TBH I have never been a fan of petrol offroaders, especially small engined ones. You need to rev the nuts off the engine. and with NA petrol the lack of torque will be very evident especially if you are offroading when overlanding, that additional load may prove to be a hassle. But I think I like the Jimny but no I wont buy one cuz the company will ask money and I simply don't have it ( I am Gurkha fanboy, is it better? Doesnt matter to me, I love it and no I don't have money for it either) 😂
Couple of things I wish Jimny did better, usable door pocket, atleast big enough to hold a small water bottle. May better door handles with better integrated request sensors and door locks, vertical grab handles at all doors. Does it get BLD? I know it has a ridiculous market of after market parts available, but a locker from factory would have been great.
the main question remains, the price. I just hope MS doesnt mess it up.
Also, Jimny doesnt get weight sensors is cuz MS would have had to re-engineer Jimny ground up right? Right?

Yep, it does get BLD. The seatbelt weight sensor thing just seems like strange cost cutting. It’s also expected to make its way into other existing Marutis
