Get one that has, or add, a key, or app unlock. Get a good lock for it and don't get fat tires so fat it won't fit in conventional bike racks. Put a GPU tracker on it. My preference is the eScooter over eBike, eSkateboard, etc. after years riding ICE motorcycle and scooter all my life. Why? They are just so darn fun! The portability of the eScooter is amazing since I use my eScooter in conjunction with public transportations. In addition, the eScooter blends in with the rental eScootes scatter around the city, hence minimize the probability of thief although a good u-lock is a must. I installed front suspension and larger 10" puematic tires, and the ride quality is amazing. The FWD Xiaomi scooter has issues with the hills in the city so I am planning to convert it into an AWD in the near future. Once this is done, it will be a perfect eScooter for the city. Watching some of your video helped a lot since I am planning to build a larger battery pack to power the 2nd motor, and over-voltage them to get better performance (speed and torque).
I got a light folding bike. Because I live in town, in a downstairs apartment which means to get outside I also need to go upstairs. I wanted a bike cause I feel pedaling allows for more exercise than basically standing and leaning. I might be oversimplifying that however.

Agreed, EUC, esk8, and onewheel are fun. EUC probably had the highest learning curve for me. Ebike with pedal assist is the best for getting exercise, for utility, and for riding at night with lights. I think it was inevitable - two days ago I ran my esk8 into a pickup truck when the brakes failed to engage. They were so reliable ...until they weren't. Normally I jump off the esk8 if I suddenly see an unexpected pothole or other danger where I couldn't brake in time and then engage the brake as I'm jumping off, but the failure of the brakes surprised me this time so I completely forgot what I'd practiced and rode the esk8 right under the parked truck and bent my legs underneath. PPE did its job, though, and protected my hands, wrists, elbows, head and back. Sadly I neglected to wear knee pads that day and now I have some nice road rash on my knee. Could have been worse...
10:40 Onewheel is definitely not safer than e-skateboard. Onewheel has a design flaw which it can tip forward and send the user face plant directly to the ground at high speed.

I’ve been looking heavily into Personal Electric Vehicles a lot lately and I’m leaning toward an electric unicycle. Up to 30+ mph and 50+ mi range on top of being the most compact and portable compared to a scooter or bike Also high power ebikes are a lot more expensive than high power scooters and EUCs
There are tons of citycoco type electric scooter users out there.. pleaseee make a video for them,, for example most of them can make 45 km/h as top speed. You can show us couple of upgrade options for their speed.
Hey Micah, I'm thinking of building an ebike, and I read in some forum that sine wave controller don't match w all motors, but I can't quite understand why. Is it because not all motors have Hall sensor? Thanks, congrats for your videos, they're awesome
I prefer a e-bike, but due to an above knee amputation and balance issues I use an electric trike (recumbent tadpole) it is not as good for maneuverability, and it is horrible off road, but it is far better than nothing. It is also a great way to get some cardio in when you can not run, or even walk, more than a very short distance. I credit my trike with getting me walking again at all, after over a decade stuck in a wheelchair 24/7.
I'm now up to 8 electric vehicles. 2 bikes, 2 scooters, 1 skateboard and 3 EUCs. The lack of range puts me off the OneWheel. But it's EUCs all the way for me. 2 big plus points over other things. They can play music and people can't ask to have a go and ride off.
Hi , I am just starting to look for an ebike and have been watching your channel for useful insight into my first purchase. While I'm not quite sure which brand I'll wind up with I am looking at wide tire options for offroad excursions as well as being a daily ride. Though I watch others you have been the most informative the reason I ultimately subscribed.
This is coming from somebody who owned all of them - I think the interactive feeling of an ebike is the best. Everything else feels too passive but when you’re on an ebike you could still get some good exercise with a low level of pedal-assist. I also got some weird hip and back pain from my e-scooter so I don’t ride it as much. I think an ebike is the most comfortable option and you can mount a lot more onto a bike than a scooter/board.
Just started building a cheap e-longboard (my first PEV). Never really thought about the learning curve since I have experience with skateboards since I was little, but now I get that it can be scary for some people. Didn't want an e-scooter even though it's super popular now because I still don't like how you look.
Yes I wish I had more skating experience as a kid like you. I don't think starting with an electric skateboard is wise - you should really learn on a standard skateboard first so you learn how to control it. For you it feels second nature, but most people (me included) had to develop those skills later on, unfortunately.
Compare eBikes, eScooter like Zero11x or Mantis and a unicycle like the inmotion v11, please. I was told, the inmotion v11 is a game changer, and unicycles are much more useful for daily commuting, but also better regarding fun and off road, freestyle, acrobatics!

I just acquired a 1970's Raleigh Chopper for nothing and would love to convert it to an eBike. Any suggestions as to which drive method might be best ? Thanks.
I see it like this: ebike if you need to carry stuff or go over lots of bad terrain (big wheels are superior for going over curbs and potholes), scooter if you're mostly sticking to decent roads or want to squeeze through tight places, skateboard if you're going to only ride on very good road or need to carry it on your person a lot.
I set out to build my own e-bike. I wanted a strong reliable bike as I live in a hilly area. I purchased a Bafang BBSHD and a 52 volt battery. Now I'm getting an error code 07. My seller told me Bafang is no longer making the motor for 52 volts. I'm about $1,200.00 in the hole and wondering what options are available. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What would you recommend?
Mika I have your book I’d like to have more information on prismatic cells or Lipo4 cells for my trIke build build I just don’t understand wiring and stuff 72 V 50ah or larger.
Also, something I've noticed as a consideration between these is the quality of the ride on the road. Once I boosted the speed of my bike with a motor, potholes and bad pavement became an issue... I'm switching to fatter tires and under inflating them, and someday will move my kit onto a suspension bike. With the smaller, harder wheels of the sk8s and scooters, they make every sidewalk crack jarring. Do you have advice for a setup (softer/larger wheels? Trucks with springs?) that would add some 'give' for a smoother ride?

I’ve been looking heavily into Personal Electric Vehicles a lot lately and I’m leaning toward an electric unicycle. Up to 30+ mph and 50+ mi range on top of being the most compact and portable compared to a scooter or bike
Also high power ebikes are a lot more expensive than high power scooters and EUCs
Actually the Lextric XP 2.0 is 1k
How about covering three and four wheel options? This is the best channel for information keep up the excellent work!
What about escooters with bike wheels?
never tried a e-scooter, but do have an e-sk8, and e-bike - one day i'll try one out. another great video - look forward to the next video.
Too many potholes around me for an e-scooter or skateboard. The Razor A5 Lux kick scooter I had got bogged down and unstable on rough roads.
Restaurant? What is a restaurant? I have a veg memory from childhood about it.
I would definitely choose an e-bike over the other choices.
keep to the great videos! it's like to get into electric unicycling, but I have no idea where to start
Really good to watch. For someone in the eBIKE world you can talk about all other options as you ride them since kid. Really enjoyed watching! :)
crashing on my ebike was bad enough.. I can't imagine flipping off of the other e-options.
thanks for laying down all the different electric options
This is coming from somebody who owned all of them - I think the interactive feeling of an ebike is the best. Everything else feels too passive but when you’re on an ebike you could still get some good exercise with a low level of pedal-assist. I also got some weird hip and back pain from my e-scooter so I don’t ride it as much. I think an ebike is the most comfortable option and you can mount a lot more onto a bike than a scooter/board.
been contemplating if i’m going to get escoot or ebike. You made making decisions much easier. thanks!
HI I NEED HELP I HAVE A EBIKE KIT 72V 2000W I HAVE A 48V 1000W 20AH BATTERY BUT I JUST BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY ITS A 60V 2100W 35AH WHEN I PUT THE NEW BATTERY IN THE BIKE DONT POWER UP THE DISPLAY
what’s the bike at 1:53? i would love to get one like jt
Escoots for the win. What ebike can you buy for $1500 with 60v 2000w power that does 42mph?
I'm using a scooter and I love it ... Mostly using it because of mix of portability, safety and speed.
You didn't mention hoover boards in this video. What do you think of them? (Maybe you've covered them before but I just found your site today)
/Christian from Sweden
nano motors are better than switch, you should review them. What I love most is the ability to have a Bosch 36v battery
Question: I own a ProdecoTech Phantom 400 V6 eBike. It came with a 36-Volt 10.2 amp hour (I think) battery which lasted one year of everyday use and now won’t hold a charge anymore. I opened the case of the battery, but it looks too complex for me to tackle. What can I do? I live in Baltimore, Maryland.
I live in a very hilly area of San Diego And I'm on the fence about using a 48 Vlt 1000watt motor rear hub or a 52 vlt 1500watt, rear Hub I'm about 250lbs and I want to be able to go up steep hills that's a couple miles long. at a decent rate of speed then cruse along the beach. What would you recommend?
Those one wheels look neat. Any thoughts on a diy one wheel?
Mika I have your book I’d like to have more information on prismatic cells or Lipo4 cells for my trIke build build I just don’t understand wiring and stuff 72 V 50ah or larger.
so which ebike should I get? how about those Gazelles?
Also, something I've noticed as a consideration between these is the quality of the ride on the road. Once I boosted the speed of my bike with a motor, potholes and bad pavement became an issue... I'm switching to fatter tires and under inflating them, and someday will move my kit onto a suspension bike. With the smaller, harder wheels of the sk8s and scooters, they make every sidewalk crack jarring. Do you have advice for a setup (softer/larger wheels? Trucks with springs?) that would add some 'give' for a smoother ride?
Recently I've seen people using home-made spot welders to build their batteries. Most of them are based on a microwave transformer. Would you recommend using them? If so it would be awesome to see you building one!!
hi what is more power full scooter 48v 2000watt hub motor with a 2000ah speed controller or a scooter or ebike 48v 2000watt hub motor with 2000watt speed controller witch one is more powerful and will have more speed
Hi Micah! I have an old ebike that uses SLA batteries, and I lost the charger. Does it require a different type of charger then a lithium ion battery charger?
I’m enjoying your videos! What 360 camera do you use for your action shots?
Hello, I saw one your video regarding headlights for ebike, I would like to install 2 headlights on a electric kick scooter by Kaabo model is Mantis Pro. I want to directly tap the headlight with a handle switch to the battery of the scooter. Can you please tell me should I get the Ultimate DIY ebike book or the DIY lithium Batteries book to be able to do the job? Thanks.
request for best standing escooters 2020
No link for that scooter 🛴 ???
e scooter is perfect for me. safe, portable and slow enough so you dont worry about thef, you can carry it anywhere. it is very cool to ride it on the beach shore roads too.
Maybe you could cover electric assisted Velomobiles?
A niche within a niche! But I think they're cool! Yes, I'd love to do a video on those at some point. I need to get my hands on one somewhere....
Working on my 1st ev motorcycle. Love the channel. Great Help.
great comparison, pros & cons
you just earned a sub
Can you compare the kaabo wolf king, the stealth b-52 , and the carbon gt
I’m looking for a commuter that goes about 30 to 40 miles and 50 to 60 mph
I prefer escooters. Cheaper, more protable, have seat options, no need for pedaling at all, less maintenance, etc. Escooters are also the fastest if you considering higher end (70mph+).
If choosing scooter (and especially skateboard) and living in the US, make sure you have good health insurance. I broke my wrist in the first 30 mins just practicing. Had to get surgery T.T
I know I’m 2 years late on this video but I have recently been interested in buying something electric. I want to buy one for fun and most importantly college. I am really interested in buying a board but I have no experience riding one. I’m also looking at scooters to. I just wanted to know some opinions from people that are more educated in this type of stuff than i am?
friend I have a question and I need your help. I make deliveries with my ebike. I wanted to trade the two batteries I have for just one. I have a 1000W motor and my motor brushless controller is 26amp limits, if I replace the motor brushless controller to one with a high amperage, I could use a 48V-40ah battery?
Is it possible to put regenative breaking (maybe front hub motor) to bafang mid drives?
Hey Micah.. Keep up the good work.. Awesome vids.. crisp and to the point.. On an unrelated note could u pl tell me how u shoot these moving clips like at 0:08 to 0:13 and then 0:42 and lastly 1:55... Hoping u can help...
Btw Im from India and sadly not too much choice with ebikes but am dying to own one... Preferably a really torquey one with fwd which shud be able to do wheels spins on demand... ;-)
Even the 7:58 bit on the e board with the cam panning all around.. is it all just with a disappearing stick and a 360 cam ?
Love my electric chopper bikes. My question is there a way to make my bike go faster? Its built using a kaishan 500 scooter. Its 36v 500watt 48v 25 amp hour battery pack.
Which eSkateboard would you recommend regarding fun, and/or commuting? something like a Baja board, or something with street wheels? I am a newbie, from what I have read, there are Baja board boards, but also similar, a bit smaller boards with off road AND onroad wheels included! Which one would you recommend? Maybe you can make a comparison about this aspect?
how should I dimension a solar system to be able to charge (maybe in 6hours) the batttery pack?
Hi, I'm new to your channel, but I have a question, I'm not really sure if you already answered this before, but well, I'm a heavy men, 300 pounds but I'm looking to get a new ebike, which one do you recommend??? Also I'm looking for something affordable and I will used it just 2 to 3 days a week to work out. Thank you
When are you going to release the second half of the cheapest electric bike video?
What about a video talking about 18650 alternatives?
Why 18650 are the most used cells in an ebike battery?
I think that this should also address reliability and build quality. After 2 years with 3 different e scooter I have realized the build quality is just not there yet
I'm making a 8s12p battery for my AT mountainboard and I would love to try out the Vruzend kit. But 88 cells force me to get 176 blocks. Anyway you can help me with my diy project? Like a sponsorship or a discount in a trade for translation to Portuguese of your things? Let me know. Awesome work you make in each video. Saudações de Portugal.
Hey Micah, a question I'd love to see you answer is how to play around with (and even hack) the standard ebike controller/readout screen. Even pointing us toward online resources for that. The lack of finish in the chinese UI's, plus poor documentation, means that it's challenging to learn what the settings even mean, let alone how to tweak them to make it fit our needs. Thanks! Love these videos.
Hi man, question for you ? Which state you live in ?
Hi Micah! I really enjoyed this overview of all of the different types of electric mobility options available today!
This video is one which i was looking for
Do you just pick one?
Great Video, on how to choose the right one for you. Thanks
I really want that book.
Micah, can you do a video reviewing different 48v batteries from aliexpress - there are some which are 25000mah yet only cost £70? a scam?
How can I learn more about building an inexpensive hunting bike. I am older and want to add electric kit to help with hills. Will you update the $182. Build soon. Do you have and email.
Scotty in South Carolina
I'm desperately looking for a 500W ebike under $700. I'm 103lbs and am looking for something lightweight. Can you help steer me in the right direction. 😉
What kind of sport do you think can be done using electric unicycles?
Skeet shooting 😀
Segway polo is a thing, I think it would be fun on an electric unicycle. Or maybe Quidditch....
Can you recommend the best bikes in Canada?
Where can I find good high current 52V controllers?
