Thank you for posting this. I have a Samsung just like this one. I replaced the door gasket and everything was good for about 10 days then stopped dispensing ice. I tried pulling the ice reservoir out and couldn’t because of ice buildup. I’ll give this a try hopefully this trick works. Thanks again!
@@ApplianceRep hey thanks again, just want to report, i did this and replaced the thermistor and it only lasted 2 months as opposed to 1 month. is there anything else i can do? I some other videos where someone takes a copper wire and wraps it around the black piping in the bottom of the condensor and putting the other end in the water drain. is that worth trying?
flamurakatony there’s really nothing else contact Techline Samsung and verify that issue I would of replaced the main board defrosted everything completely replaced the evap cover and cleared the drain also I would of also replaced the sensor like you have. Test the heater make sure it’s working properly there are many options but I would start by calling Techline
Great video again! As far as the longer defrost setting, is this option available on most of the Samsung fridges that have the icing issue in the refrigerator evap coil and drain? Some of these models are 5 yrs old or more by now.
Paul Zehner yes the keys pressed will be different but the code is the same I done several old ones with that icing issue and as a last resort and worked. The new Samsung fridge already have a new main board with a longer defrost to the ice maker and the fresh food compartment
@@ApplianceRep i have a 7 yr old model...rf31fmesbsr/aa...bought the service manual..no info on longer defrost...often been having to put in fresh food defrost mode (rd mode)...tried alarm/fridge (different button location on my panel) nothing happened...i also have changed the defrost sensor(and put in higher/better location), heating element was fine,changed it anyway, as well as the fan and the bi-metal thermistor....my fan is constantly hitting ice n now has stopped again. I have to remove the evaporator cover n use the hair dryer to melt the ice buildup....something happened after all these years...won't buy another samsung product other than tv or phone.....
Thank you for making these videos on trying to solve the Samsung french door fridge icing up at the top of the evaporator intake area problem. I've been fighting this problem with mine too, with no permanent solution yet. I've moved the defrost thermistor to different locations, but the fridge defrost keeps locking out with code 25e every three days after resetting the codes and manually deicing. It happens like clockwork. My theory with mine is that the ice builds up at the top faster than the defrost can take care of it, and after three days the ice has formed enough in the area that the defrost sensor can't read the heat temperature during defrost, so it locks out as a failsafe. The defrost never runs again, and as a result the ice keeps forming until it hits the fan. I was wondering if the 1 17 secret code in this video is the fridge defrost or ice maker defrost? Also, what does #19 dispenser heater do? That's how #19 is described by Samsung, but I don't understand what they mean by dispenser heater. My model is RF28HFEDBSR.

I have a French door style Samsung refrigerator model # RF18HFENBSP/AA how do I put it in forced defrost mode for refrigerator only and how long will it last and can I set did timer to last longer if so can you please tell me how to do all of that thank you for your help by the way you make awesome videos 1)) how to put it in forced defrost 2)) how to make forced defrost run longer .. 3)) How long does forced defrost for refrigerator last and how long can I adjust it to make it last is there just 1 or 2 settings or is there more than that. I have a similar fridge, we have 2 problems. 1, ice making is very slow. 2, the water is warm not cold, i know people have fridges like these but with cold water and faster ice. What do you think i should do?
They haven’t came out with one but call Techline and as a last resort if you get a experienced one he will make you make the changes on the user interface I hope soon they will make it public but for now they don’t want people messing up the program so they made new main boards with the program already n it
In the begining you set 0-0 to 1-0 and then 0-17 to 1-17. I clearly understant the last part, but I am confuse if we really need to set 0-0 to 1-0 or its a mistake? Thank you!
Now the new main board comes programmed for you It’s really a extra step to see if it will prolong the frost issue many mistakes with the engineers on this model The Techline at Samsung doesn’t recommend this setting but as a last resort I’ve done it in the past with success
@@ApplianceRep I replace the board, heater, check connection, thermo fuse, sensor. Check if the back of the fridge do not freeze. Replace de sensor. And alway come back.

Heater 19 I believe is the dispenser heater
The heater keeps condensation out of that ice room there is also a code for the ice maker room and fresh food section
Fresh food section is what I meant to say, not fridge. Fresh food section defrost is what I'm asking about. Is that code #17?

Service manuals does not show all option setting just a few. Did they came out with a service bulleting for this issue ?

Your defrost sensor is bad along with a clogged drain there is a kit called the leakage kit for the water issue the sensor you can buy separate
