    Working in the R8 GT3 LMS in the Audi pits for the big Rolex race... Couldn't help but give a nod of appreciation to the Corvettes as they thundered by. Yes I loved our R8 V10 but these sounded rowdy 🏁👍🏾

    Great driving from Sasha. It would have been interesting to get a lap time from one of the regular speed academy drivers as well for comparison. I've driven a few full tilt racecars in my day and it takes a full recalibration of what you think the car will do versus what it is capable of. That Vette was definitely geared like most of them, for space exploration. Two gears lower in most corners than the Badass2000. Thanks for the great video! Any idea on what the asking price will be on the car?

    • @michaelgomez4994

      Doug A yes this is more of a spec racecar of Daytona then a corvette. The corvette racing team uses the same IRS the stock c6 use just with coilovers. Think of this as a Imsa gto car. It’s not as fast as a c6r

    • @michaelgomez4994
      @michaelgomez4994 5 лет назад

      Doug A my guess is that a c6r would be 4sec faster. Because it has more of everything. 200hp more,wider tires. Irs with doublewisbone,it’s also lighter I believe.

    • @mondomoleno.3404
      @mondomoleno.3404 5 лет назад

      @@mondomoleno.3404 dumb questing for you but you seem knowledge with this dog leg term I'm reading here in the comments... does that mean third is where fourth is? For example regular is, 1 2 3 4 5 6 you're saying its 2 1 3 4 5 6? I'm wondering if theres more to it than that. Thanks.

    • @mondomoleno.3404
      @mondomoleno.3404 5 лет назад

      @@joshuahenthorn6532 Honestly, I've never seen one in person. According to Wikipedia, it applies to 5 speed gearboxes, and the pattern goes:
      R 2 4
      1 3 5
      instead of:
      1 3 5
      2 4 R
      It could be wrong, or it could be different in this particular transmission. I just remember the term from an old Top Gear episode where they all bought German sport sedans, and James May's Mercedes had one, so there was a running gag where he would start of and accidentally shift into reverse. I know the theory behind it is that you can get into first faster by pulling down rather than pushing up, so you have a better shot at getting out of the gate before someone who has a regular shift pattern 5 speed.
      It sounds kind of archaic in a time when pretty much everything comes with a 6 speed transmission, but a lot of racing still use 4 and 5 speed boxes either due to regulation (NASCAR still uses a 4 speed in all it's cars), or the availability of 4 and 5 speeds from companies that build for series that require them. Lots of pro drifters for example use NASCAR 4 speeds because of the abuse they can handle.

      It's not a production based car so no

      Nicholas Rodrigues As per the rules they have to be production based cars for the GT class. Prototype is a different story of course. Were you trying to say that it’s not built off a production chassis? Well it’s tube framed so that’s self explanatory, regardless you think they would have opted for an independent rear suspension.

      @@njshift this is a tube chassis car. It was built to run in the same class as the Pontiac G6 GXP-R which was also a V8, RWD, tube chassis car with a CF body. It's not production based.

      Nicholas Rodrigues As per the rules it specifies that all vehicles in the GT class are production based. For this series this just means the tube chassis vehicle has to proportionally resemble the production car.
      “American GT divisions for production-based automobiles like Chevrolet Corvettes, Ford Mustangs, Dodge Vipers, BMW M-3’s, and Porsche 911’s.” www.motorsport.com/grandam/news/grand-american-road-racing-car-specs/37339/
      I’m in agreement with what you’re trying to convey albeit with incorrect terminology. The race car builders have freedom use whatever suspension they wish within the confines of the rulebook. I was just surprised they didn’t use the superior independent rear suspension in the build as most cars in the series run IRS as well.

      Just reading the rules further... Each team could build an IRS however at the cost of a higher minimum weight. So 2575 with solid axle, 2600 with IRS or 2756 with DP transaxle. It just came down to each team/drivers preference.

      NV's Z06 has been lurking in the back of the shop for the past couple videos. Might be soon.

      I drive my C5 Z06 mostly on track the last 10 years. She's old and slow, but fairly loud, gets the spectators' attention. I need to learn morr countersteer. but if I counter steer tooooo much, mama won'tlet me play no more.
