For me, words can't describe how cool it is that someone posts Civ 3 content. Grew up playing this game with my granddad, still play it time to time. He used to draw out Sid games just because he wanted to use modern units.
He wouldn't stop the game until he took every city (even named captured cities after me), and funny or f*cked up, he would use tactical nukes to get rid of captured workers because the world was already covered in railroads lmao

So part one showed up in my feed. No idea why, I don't really watch games and haven't played Civ 3 since 04. Since then I've wallowed in nostalgia, bought a cheap laptop, dug out my very old steam account, and won a Diplo and domination victory.
    Thanks Suede.

35:50. TRADE REPUTATION: There are a lot of problems with this concept. Two of them are:
    1. If it gets ruined, it should gradually go back to good. Maybe they won't trade for x turns, then you have to pay double for x turns, then it is okay.
    2. If it is not your fault, then it does not ruin you.
Warnings/notices should pop up when you are about to ruin it and/or afterwards it should let you know who and why you disrespected.

Turn number is available on the victory screen ('V'). I guess you're not going to settle those open tiles north of Salamanca and south of Kufah?
It's effectively 8 tiles per turn for a conquistador army to pillage, since they have to move to a new tile, but still. Explorers accompanying healthy 3 defense armies can serve as a mass pillaging weapon.
You have a lot of luxuries and a fair amount of territory. If you got ICS tax farms up in corrupt areas, it's conceivable that you could try careful steals of technology every so often.

    • @ztatiz6461
      @ztatiz6461 17 дней назад +2

It's 9 tiles per turn for the conquistador army, since you can pillage the tile you're on before you move -- as long as you were careful and ended your previous turn by moving to a pillage-able tile

I have not played the highest difficulty levels. At lower levels and mid levels, making workers in captured city improves the population mix. Making workers and adding our civ's workers makes the mix better faster. But, I suppose we need a little breathing room first which the AI did not give here at all

Also, templar_x recently made this comment on the forums:
"most importantly, you *can still make deals*: either within a military alliance, or in combination with peace deals!
therefore, a busted rep usually is by far not such a bad thing to happen, especially if your position is already strong."
So, if you declare on someone who you don't need to worry about, like the farthest away AI, your busted trade reputation isn't necessarily a huge deal if you manage to pay for a military alliance against them.

you can attack yourself (instead of getting attacked), use the luxury slider, buy more luxuries, use entertainers in the city, use a form of government with less war weariness, build happiness buildings, build happiness wonders. It's better to just use the lux slider, marketplaces and luxuries since the other things have drawbacks (that still shouldn't matter on regent so you can do that anyways if you want)

Saving before a war in order to replay the war many times over and over to try and win the game is one thing, but loading because you accidentally misunderstood how the game works is another imo. I mean, either I break the no-loading rule, or I break the "no-exploits" rule and abuse ROP to take the Great Library. And one of those options involves me playing the same turns of a game over again, so better to go with the latter option.

hexstick. I always save, save, save. Then decide later if reloading would be cheating or not.

The thumbnail says "no reloads, no exploits". Sure, maybe this case of reloading is more on the forgivable side. But ROP abuse is pretty low on the list of exploits too. The Civ 3 Hall of Fame does not disallow it, so I'd actually be eligible to post my game there.

My only gripe about armies is the +1 movement. That doesn't make any sense; why would an army consistent of "thousands of men" move FASTER?
Zone of control & self healing in enemy land is fine because an army has scouts and medics (serious medics not just a bigger pack of tourniquets).
