Brick Lane was completely dead 30 years ago. Now, it’s packed 24-7. I come from there. My Nan used to own a Jewish restaurant in Brick Lane called Kitties in the 50’s. Should have gotten a dozen Beigels to take back. Brilliant vlog. Such happy memories!

I think Sharon asked who goes to a 24/7 Beigel shop at 3 in the morning. Many a night clubber diverts to such an establishment for munchies.
I''m nearly sixty years old and I remember how the whole area was a desolate wasteland for maybe two decades. Most of the Jews had moved on to better pastures and the Bangladesh people were the new kids on the block. A time of transition. A hard time as it mostly always was in the very east end of London.

Sharron & Martin great content again as usual you go together like strawberry's and cream a great couple and family .may I just say that I spent most of my young teenage life living and working in the east end and I loved it full of Jewish people with their bakeries tailoring shops and the famous blooms restaurant just before aldgate station serving salt beef to the stars of the day,and brick lane was the world famous petticoat lane market and on the corner of brick lane was the famous tubby Isaac's jelly eel's and cockles stall.the year was 1967.
Great era to grow up in Michael.

My word this has changed so much.The flats I lived in are opp the station but it has changed so much it’s unrecognisable.There was a pub and an old fashioned shop that sold sweets in the jars.Good memories

That is the best restaurant in Brick Lane by a mile. Outstanding food.
My wife Sharon and I have done that Jack the Ripper tour one atmospheric evening, and it was excellent! If you ever get the chance, do it. I've taught in schools in the area for 35 years (now retired). I love it, it has such a long history, and when you walk the little back streets you really get a flavour of it. It's always been the part of London that has welcome immigrant communities, starting with the French Huguenots back in the 16th century. Followed by Irish, Jewish communities fleeing persecution, and now the SE Asian community. It got it's name after the Great Fire and they started rebuilding houses in bricks rather than wood, loads of brickmakers sprung up using London clay. Thanks for the entertaining video, I like your channel because of the range of things you two get up to.

One thing I learned staying in a Travel Lodge is...don't place your room key card next to your phone as your phone will block it from working.
Twice I got locked out of gaining entry through the locked corridor fire doors alongside my room door.

You both make me laugh in the hotel room so funny , you are such a lovely couple , so enjoy watching your videos , just watched you doing a roast for 13 pork and beef looked fantastic , since I’ve been watching you I now have 2 air fryers 1 induction hob got rid of my oven . And I have a slow cooker, also bought a kettle for the induction hob . Trying to sell my electric kettle and large toaster……. And there’s only me lol . X

Another great travel video and I love sag a loo not sure if the spelling is correct ? but it definitely incorporated spinach. I love cheese and definitely melted cheese. Not spent much time in London a bit crowded for me as a country guy. Went to see Peter Kay and got used to the underground and feeling much more comfortable , Martha and Becky go to shows regularly they love London village and love the hustle and bustle of our Capital. Very interesting - when I lived in London many moons ago, it was fun to go exploring all the different neighbourhoods - I guess you could probably go somewhere different every Saturday & it would take you a long time before you returned to the same place twice! I'm always amazed these days - compared to the the Olde Ones - how many eateries there are - how people have that much dosh to keep so many places going! We were just making a lamb & spinach curry - but I can't imagine it will be anything like yours, Martin - that looked brilliant. Really do miss a good Indian (although it's been years since I've eaten out at all) I do enjoy your jaunts - actually you may think about doing Lincoln - as the old part of the town at the top is worth a visit. One of our favourite places used to be Durham, don't know what it's like now, very atmospheric at night - actually I think that was the last decent Indian we ate!... Enjoy - Happy Travels & Good Eating!

Who eats bagels in the middle of the night? Stoners. We'd get a cab to Brick Lane or Ridley Rd Market from Canning Town at 3-4 in the morning to get salt beef bagels at Mr Bagels.
