As Crazy as Serana's backstory is, She's still the most sane and relatable character in Skyrim. Who hasn't lived with some kind of family dysfunction? If Skyrim were a movie I would say Serana is #1 just based off her strong will and mind. With that said, Serana is also Bethesdas greatest TROLL in the sense that out of all the female npc's in the game Serana is the only one that anybody wants to marry and yet can't. When I first found him, he was being launched into the by by a giant while defending his buddies. After landing back down on the ground, he killed the giant
Kharjo is my number 1 follower. I was riding my horse, enemies pop up, turn around to help out and he already took out 2 sabrecats, a mud crab and 2 wolves. I was like ok then. He never going to the blades or anything lol

Maybe these are the coolest companions... but are they the most useful? Here's a better best list. Spoilers kept to a minimum/need to know basis. 7. J'zargo 6. Aela the Huntress 5. Riekling Warrior 4. Mjoll the Lioness 3. Derkeethus 2. Cicero (and the initiates) 1. Serana 7. J'zargo levels with the player indefinitely, which makes him potentially the most powerful follower to my knowledge. He is only limited by the fact that he can be permanently killed. 6. Aela is very, very useful. Archery trainer + follower = free levels. She can be made non-essential by finishing all her quests, therefore permanently killable. Otherwise she would have the 4th spot for me, but I'm a completionist. 5. Warrior is the highest level of riekling. Takes the beast/dog slot for multiple followers without glitches. Will wear nearly anything given, including Konahrik, making it nigh invincible. Can wield Giant's Club to great (and funny) effect. Can respawn and be replaced if killed. 4. Mjoll the Lioness is essential and will never permanently die. Isn't 100% loyal to even accidental criminal Dragonborns... so she gets bumped down the list. Great tank though. 3. Available from level 1 with with the right skill and knowledge. Essential. Uses a bow for ranged options, but will use anything else you give him that is better (buggy with the bow). Can be pseudo-glitched together with the higher ranking followers on this list to amass an army. Derk is actually my favorite follower (as the only Argonian) but is eventually outclassed (without major favoritism in terms of gear) by the next two. 2. Cicero is hilarious, uses anything, tolerates everything. He's better than the initiates because they are picky about armor. I believe all three can be pseudo-glitched to follow at once, though it's been awhile since I've read their pages on the wiki. All three are essential. 1. Serana is by far the most versatile and intelligent follower. Mage already capable of raising dead so no conjuration staves needed to expand your army. Has extra interactions with the environment when she gets bored. Essential of course so no accidental loss of un-life. Even if you cure her. Barbas does not rank on this list because he is annoying. He is essential though and can be added pretty easily to a large army. I only use him when I'm desperate at low levels. Then I complete the quest to get it over with and him out of my hair. Bonus: Dead thralls (you can have 2 with or without followers) Can be better than atronachs. 1.Orchendor is my favorite. Almost never dies due to high magic resistance and teleportation spell. Caps at level 40, so can be raised by Dragonborn even at ridiculously high levels and will still be a viable distraction at the very least. Very cool to watch him work. 2. Arch-Curate Vyrthur is a monster, but apparently can only be revived up until level 42. (Untested as I did not know about his usefulness and shouted him off a cliff). He can Summon frost atronachs of his own. Ridiculous. After level 42 one would have to settle on going back down to either Sulla Trebatius (who can be MADE the best with some tricky work) or Malkoran (For a nice little chunk of pocket change every time he dies twice. You'll see what I mean by that. Not to mention he's fairly powerful in his own right.) Remember if you're building a ridiculous army, it's more effective to equip as many as possible with ranged gear so they are less likely to smack each other and create a new civil war in Skyrim. Lol. Upvote if this was useful, not to usurp our beloved Fudgemuppet, but to help minmaxers and noobs on this roleplaying-heavy channel
Hunter Spence Frea is the most powerful follower in the game. She’s the best duel-wielder in the game, she’s essential, and she has no level cap. If you’re talking most useful, put her at 1. instead of Serana.
if you want to play with stealth only you need Cicero. He is the only one that makes no noise. Although he is insane he knows how to kill. I like having few healers too.
I personaly am playing a build that hates the undead and will stop at nothing to kill them except for seranna as she sympathises with her but will kill any of the undead she spawns once there usefullness is over
Ghost Warrior 38 u can. Visit the temple of mara I think in riften and talk to the priest. Buy the necklace he offers u then wear it. Talk to Lydia and tell her ur interested and go back to the temple in riften to arrange marriage
do what I do, have a mod that lets you have infinite followers and build a party with you, some vanilla followers and some modded ones. or be op and get everyone you can and build an army.
Cicero is by far the most fun to raid bandit camps with because despite the whole "sneaking and stabbing" line, his fight style is more along the lines of "Rush in and cleave through everything like the madman he is." It's like he has the same AI as the horses. It's so much fun.
Wow by the eight! I was literally just searching up 'Skyrim best companio-' only then to be interrupted by a notification from RUclips saying 'A new video from your subscriptions' I looked at it, only to find it was top companions. Jeez Fudge Muppet, what level sneak skill do you have because you totally hit me by surprise!
Arran Haigh And everyone worshipped Talos even after the treaty, but because of Ulfrics 'sons of skyrim' , the thalmor had to crack down and killed all those who worshipped talos. Your all traitors to skyrim!
I honestly love Serana and Cicero equally. Serana is sane, interesting, and she seems to GENUINELY care for the dragonborn. Though her constant complaining can get annoying I still love her. Cicero is insane, funny, and energetic his story, like Serana's, is very sad and I feel pity for him. Which was why it didn't really surprise me when he said he was going to kill me to become listener. All in all he can be loud and obnoxious a lot, but I still love him too.
Annabel Sernholt Actually, Same for serana to me, she just seems... too fabricated, I also like to play as a bastard assassin so a loving and goodwilled companion just irks me off.
@@Chaoblahippo me too fam. If I was a vampire hunter I woulda killed her for being a vampire. If I was an evil vampire, I would have sacrificed her to blot out the sun with vyrthur.

I got atached to him because i tought he would do what i would like to do if i was in skyrim I didnt knew he was based on a real life person. You left out Jenassa. Dual-wielding archer mercenary with sneak ability and no morals. Perfect for sneaky types or someone that wants an archer. Her archery is as good as Aela's and her one-handed levels to 100. Without mods she levels to 40-45. Give her some decent enchanted resistance/sneak light armor, a good bow of your choice, and my favorite combo - a health drain sword in main hand and Windshear or Paralyze sword/dagger in off hand. She can tank several deathlords for you in that set up. She is a beast. I cannot recommend her enough.
I take her and the kitty mage boi when I play a Chaotic alignment character. She delights in killing, and kitty always asks me if we can find some booty in a ruin. My kind of scum
Serana is my favorite. I particularly like watching her interact with the environment; she starts the Dark Brotherhood ritual when you talk to Aventis; Serana will repeatedly sample the poisoned mead at Honning Brewery; she uses blacksmith equipment; watching her eat other's food you can't take is hilarious.
The homie teldryn sero idk why but he’s always been my favorite follower(Serena is very close tho) his play style is so good and I like his witty remarks he makes when you’re in cities with him
Araena is damn competent as a mage, especially when paired with a pure melee character that has limited ranged abilities. She’s got excellent aim, uses adept level lightning spells and any staff you hand her. She uses skin-line alteration spells, summons ice and fire atronochs, follows close and seems to make more effective decisions that most melee focused followers (IE she never uses the default hunting bow. She never charges into battle. She hangs back and casts spells). For a good aligned melee focused character she’s an excellent consolation prize for not corrupting Azura’s Star. Load her up with any staves you find and she’s a real turret at your back. Just be careful with paralysis staves... accidents can happen
If this was a top ten list, then I have a very good idea who Numbers 10, 9, and 8 should be! 10. Marcurio: Kickass with destruction spells, and snarky and cocky with his attitude. 9. Jenassa: Her idea of killing as art and what she says every time you dismiss her.......... Oooooooh man...... 8. Aela the Huntress: Perfect follower for a werewolf character. Two Lycans against the world!
Wow really no mention of Illia? She's LITERALLY one of the ONLY followers you can recruit that casts Expert level destruction magic! Like bruh. You can't call this video being about best followers without illia. Only downside is she's bugged. But thats Bethesdas fault.
Bru Master J'zargo can level indefinitely, but he never really changes his spells unless you give him a ring that increases magica by 48264902747 points
I like Marcurio, but he is always stepping into traps and is always stepping in front of my arrows or hammer strokes? I do not know how many times I have killed Marcurio! You would think that Bethseda could create companions that were not complete morons? They would be better to have fewer potential companions, but have each of their remaining ones be more intelligent with more dialog options. If an unpaid, untrained, amateur can create Inigo, why cannot paid professionals create something more intelligent and interesting? Increasingly, at all levels in life, I am coming to hate the creativity and quality of output of so called "Professionals".
i love Marcurio never even knew jzargo was a option. i like mages period he was the first option in that category. why switch so suddenly? just download the multiple followers mod and have both. or kill Marcurio and resurrect him permanently. i would never do that but that's a opinion for non modders.
Teldryn Sero is the best companion. He's pretty strong, does not run into your attacks like melee-characters, but the best is: He can shut the fuck up.
There is a point in Serana's quest when she follows you, but does not take up a companion slot because it's a part of her quest. I ran into Teldryn at that point. And I played a conjuration mage. Between the three of us and all our raised corpses and atronachs we a small army.
Jon Venzuela My J'zargo refuses to equip anything other than his Novic Hood for his head peice, so I sadly can't do this with him. That means if I want too I have to hunt down Kharjo.
While those are the best end game followers, my personal choice (if I'm a warrior) is Faendal. You can get him immediately after leaving Helgen, and he's really good as a stand-in until you can get one of the stronger followers. I can't tell you how many times he saved my ass in Bleak Falls Barrow and the 7000 steps.
Jzargo is one of the worst mage followers. Yeah he has no level cap, but he always uses SPARKS. Rarely he will cast the lightning bolt. But usually he just casts his useless sparks spell. I don't know why people over value him on these lists. Clearly they haven't used him and are just going of off the fact he has no level cap.
This list is so jacked besides Jzargo being on there. It should be T. Sero, Ralis Sedarys, Dark Brotherhood Initiate, Cicero, Frea, Serana, and Durak/Celann (very similar). This is a much better list of strong followers (in no particular order) You can always make arguements to switch so and so for whoever. But this is definitely a better list of power followers than the one fudgemuppet has here. Disappointed.
Aela, Vilkas, Ingjard, and Jenassa (if you give her a bow like Nordic or Dragon that she will opt to use over hunting, and she will dual wield) are also all stronger than a few of the followers on your list (Erik, Jzargo, and Mjoll (Mjoll is okay, the essential NPC part is nice but I think there are a couple better 2H Warrior followers like Vilkas and Ingjard). So yeah there are a lot of way better choices you missed. And again all these guys are 1000x better than Jzargo who mainly uses a novice level destruction spell as his main offense. And again the fact Dalia Sedarys isn't on this list is rediculous. He will dual wield, he has armsman perks like T. Sero, as well as the NPC extra damage perk, making him one of the highest DPS followers in the game if well equipped. More research and these guys actually testing out all of these followers would have made for a better list and video. Because as is there are some big errors here (basically like 3-4 of these followers don't belong anywhere on this list).
I just think it's obvious that little actual effort was put into testing followers and making this list which disappoints me. I like this youtube channel and I don't want it to become a misinformation hub like the ESO channel. But between this video and the very weak "strongest weapon" video a while back which had a lot of errors (including ignoring that chaos enchantments are broken when self applied), I am starting to see some mistakes that could've been avoided with better research and testing equipment/followers/etc and it bums me out. Get your shit together guys! I mean this with love.
I think the list is based of of the personality, backstory, etc. of the characters; not raw stats. FudgeMuppet doesn't care about that very often, and when they do it's always the Atronach Stone.
How to get 3 invincible (temporary) companions: -Find Serana, don’t bring her back to her father -Accomplish main quest line up until you find Esbern -With Serana, meet Delphine & Esbern at the Forsworn camp in the next main quest. Now you have 3 companions who can’t go anywhere until you complete either of the quest lines. Perfect time to go dragon hunting, explore every cave, decimate bandit hideouts, and much more!
I had Janessa following me and she got stuck in Brittleshin Pass. Oh well, good thing she likes dark corners because she will forever watch over that pass RIP lol. Forgot to free her from my service so I went back and dismissed her. Afterwards I dropped flowers at her feet.
@@Moon_________________ Gave you a thumbs up but is it not better you can leave her at home to watch your wife? You can then take Serana and Mjoll as followers. That's 4 chicks. The dragonborn needs chicks.
Word of advice! If you’re commonly adventuring, try to have an ally in a neighboring town that you can go to. For example: I have J’Zargo in the Winterhold province area, Lydia in Whiterun area, Eric in Rorikstead area, Mjoll/Serana in the Riften area. Solitude region might be a bit difficult. In Solstheim I have Frea and Teldryn. Give each of them a bit of gold, a good weapon, some good armor, and some healing so that if you’re ever low on health, run by one of your boys and let them give you a hand
Hybrids: Teldryn Sero - Probably the most versatile follower in the game. He is deadly with both fire spells and sword and unlike other mage type followers, he is as tough as most warrior followers. Serana - Another Essential follower (read: unkillable), she is skilled with both magic and 1handed as well. The only bad things about her is that she prefers to use her (early on rather weak) magic and kite the enemy rather than going melee using your powerful forged weapons, and you need to wait for her to get to level 50 in order to unlock her more powerful spells (ice storm anyone?). Mages: J'zargo - No level limit, knows a variety of spells, so he can deal with all types of enemies. Marcurio - Easy to get and knows Chain Lightning, he destroys things early and mid game. Illia - She knows poweful frost spells at the start, so that makes her useful. Unfortunately she only knows frost spells, so she can't do much against frost resistant enemies. You should pick her up anyway because she can be used as a steward. Warrior 1h: Celann: Look like another housecarl clone, but this guy is a Breton (magic resistant) and he has NO LEVEL CAP in addition of having some additional perks. You have to side with Dawnguard to have him though. Rayya: Allright, another housecarl? WRONG!! She dual wields and she is good at it. Frea: Another no level cap follower, her dialogues are limited however. She is a dual wielder as well. Warrior 2h: Erik The Slayer: He is quite powerful for a start, and kill things much more quickly than your housecarls. Mjoll The Lioness: Unkillable, and despite her quest weapon is a 1h, she is better with 2h. Ingjard: Another Dawnguard follower with no level cap. Rangers: Aela the Huntress: Do we need to say anything? Jenassa: One of the few good dual wielders, in addition of being good with the bow. Durak: This guy uses a crossbow. He also has no level cap. Like Celann and Ingjard, you have to side with Dawnguard to have him as a follower.
Derkeethus is beast!!! I got him wearing Ahzidals armor equipped with an ebony shield and mace. Dude can block up to a 100% with all the enchanted gear he's wearing so he hardly takes damage
Yes the unkilleable just gives her the edge over everyone. I'm currently not playing with destruction or using the fire shout but it pi$$ed me off every follower just dropping like skeleton

honestly i have such a literally crush on Serana. not only is she gorgeous as fuck but that voice??? im wet. i wanted to marry her and i was furious when i couldnt
Shawna Ware Serana is the best, but... Faendal is my boy! He should be 2nd best
you can actually, if you go to the balcony where you kill arch curate vyrthur and play you cards right, she will agree to marry you
RCE what?seriously?
Shawna Ware I hate Serana. I'm a werewolf so it's a bit of role-play. Her fucking habit of reviving people is so annoying because I can't loot them then also she weak af. KHARJO!
BBG Kharjo is great follower in my opinion. He may not seem like much but with the right tools, he is op. When I travel with him he mostly takes care of himself.
When I first found him, he was being launched into the by by a giant while defending his buddies. After landing back down on the ground, he killed the giant

Cicero is one of those characters people will either furiously hate or love unconditionally. Personally, I fuckn love Cicero. He’s funny and witty but stupid at the same time and his backstory adds new dimensions to his character. Also, he can’t die and is actually very very skilled in combat.

Maybe these are the coolest companions... but are they the most useful? Here's a better best list. Spoilers kept to a minimum/need to know basis.
7. J'zargo
6. Aela the Huntress
5. Riekling Warrior
4. Mjoll the Lioness
3. Derkeethus
2. Cicero (and the initiates)
1. Serana
Not to mention he's fairly powerful in his own right.)
Remember if you're building a ridiculous army, it's more effective to equip as many as possible with ranged gear so they are less likely to smack each other and create a new civil war in Skyrim.
Although he is insane

The Scatsbury made me love Kharjo
Marcurio! Serana's my second favorite. Marcurio may not have a big backstory, but he has some great one-liners and is great in battle.
Agreed. She's always my first choice. I like her voice actress too.
She is the one from the drunken huntsman right?
she was my first companion.. still think about her sometimes..

Ehhhhh, personally, Serena is #1 by far
Nox Descious I used Jenassa for pillar of sacrifice
Omar Zahid I used Lydia 😂
You know, I was surprised that Aela wasn't mentioned anywhere on the list. She's way more interesting than Mjoll.

Only downside is she's bugged. But thats Bethesdas fault.
J'Zargo.... J'Zargo. My heart is broken.
Why do people always forget about Marcurio? He is a way better mage than Jzargo (imo).
Koray Celik probably because jzargo can level up to 81 I believe
Bru Master J'zargo can level indefinitely, but he never really changes his spells unless you give him a ring that increases magica by 48264902747 points
Yep he's always using his spark while Marcurio is fireballing everything
I like Marcurio, but he is always stepping into traps and is always stepping in front of my arrows or hammer strokes? I do not know how many times I have killed Marcurio! You would think that Bethseda could create companions that were not complete morons? They would be better to have fewer potential companions, but have each of their remaining ones be more intelligent with more dialog options. If an unpaid, untrained, amateur can create Inigo, why cannot paid professionals create something more intelligent and interesting? Increasingly, at all levels in life, I am coming to hate the creativity and quality of output of so called "Professionals".
i love Marcurio
never even knew jzargo was a option.
i like mages period he was the first option in that category.
why switch so suddenly?

Teldryn Sero is the best companion.
He's pretty strong, does not run into your attacks like melee-characters, but the best is: He can shut the fuck up.
Cicero is my favorite follower. I like when he dances and makes hilarious comments. Especially when in windhelm.
There is a point in Serana's quest when she follows you, but does not take up a companion slot because it's a part of her quest. I ran into Teldryn at that point. And I played a conjuration mage. Between the three of us and all our raised corpses and atronachs we a small army.

Serena is the best companion!!!
lets be real

A H T A R
True lol
@@cheriftekouk7870 we can, with the mod " marry me Sérana ".
Drew Sutter Someone knows of the power Ralis has!
I’m making a new character, picking up Erik, and taking him on an adventure through this whole game
If you have the Alternate Start mod and choose Nord, an option becomes available to start the game called "I am Erik the Slayers childhood friend"
How to get 3 invincible (temporary) companions:
-Find Serana, don’t bring her back to her father
-Accomplish main quest line up until you find Esbern
-With Serana, meet Delphine & Esbern at the Forsworn camp in the next main quest.

Imagine being immortalized in a game like Skyrim. Man is a legend... RIP Eric
Frea is number 1. She cannot die and she has no level cap.
Teldryn is definitely top tier.
1. Serana
2. Cicero
3. Dark Brotherhood Initiate
4. Aela the Huntress
The rest are irrelevant.
Can Lydia at least be up there she is sworned to carry your burdens and guard you with ber life
@@Moon_________________ Gave you a thumbs up but is it not better you can leave her at home to watch your wife?
Hybrids:
Teldryn Sero - Probably the most versatile follower in the game.
Mages:
J'zargo - No level limit, knows a variety of spells, so he can deal with all types of enemies.
Warrior 1h:
Celann: Look like another housecarl clone, but this guy is a Breton (magic resistant) and he has NO LEVEL CAP in addition of having some additional perks. You have to side with Dawnguard to have him though.
Rayya: Allright, another housecarl? WRONG!! She dual wields and she is good at it.
Frea: Another no level cap follower, her dialogues are limited however. She is a dual wielder as well.
Warrior 2h:
Erik The Slayer: He is quite powerful for a start, and kill things much more quickly than your housecarls.
Mjoll The Lioness: Unkillable, and despite her quest weapon is a 1h, she is better with 2h.
Ingjard: Another Dawnguard follower with no level cap.
Rangers:
Aela the Huntress: Do we need to say anything?
Jenassa: One of the few good dual wielders, in addition of being good with the bow.
Durak: This guy uses a crossbow. He also has no level cap. Like Celann and Ingjard, you have to side with Dawnguard to have him as a follower.
I'm so glad Erandur was on the list. He's my fav.
What about my loving husband Derkeethus?
R Sorrells I enjoy his singing all the time 😂
Derkeethus is beast!!! I got him wearing Ahzidals armor equipped with an ebony shield and mace. Dude can block up to a 100% with all the enchanted gear he's wearing so he hardly takes damage
Definitely a great follower, but I totally question the "loving husband" part. GOD is he glitchy... XDDD
Not that he needs it since he's immortal.
Derkeethus is best follower in skyrim
The fact that Serana wasn't number one makes this countdown invalid.
The way you say J'zargo hurts my soul
My Favorite Companion is Serana .
My top 5 companions:
1. *SERANA*
2. *SERANA*
3. *SERANA*
4. *SERANA*
5. *SERANA*
:3
My top 5
1. Lydia
2. Serana
3. Aela
4. Teldern
5. Eric the slayer
Honorable mention: jenassa and fandal for the start of the play threw
@@Moon_________________ Lydia complains all the time and is non-essential.
That’s a weird way to spell Inigo
Nefelibataa_Lillies 😂😂😂😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀
If you can pls make a top Pets too(or should I say "non humanoid companions"?)
The elves are non human companions, as are Kanjiit and Argonians.
I was talking about non humanoid characters, like dogs, I'm going to edit the comment
+Adam II
Whats the difference between us? We Humans are physically better than you. But that's it.
Ricardo Magalhães I

Navoda Punchihewa sad dog profile pic :c
Where is kharjo? He deserves to be on this list far more than Cicero and erander for gods sake
Dont you mean jzargo
After all no lvl cap seems good
Serana hands down, no other companion compares.
Powerful vampire that can't be killed, what more do you need?
Michael Clark very annoying tho
@@lilvro7016 So true.
@@MichaelClark-uw7ex i dont know about that shes strong yeah but i hate her
Yes the unkilleable just gives her the edge over everyone. I'm currently not playing with destruction or using the fire shout but it pi$$ed me off every follower just dropping like skeleton
