I was once travelling with Meeko when we encountered a large bandit encampment and were quickly swarmed by bandits. I was having a hard time fighting 3 of them at once and lost sight of Meeko when he ran off to take out one of the others. I eventually defeated my adversaries and wandered around some more, discovering a bandit archer who was quickly dealt with. Still no sign of Meeko, although there was no sign of any more enemies nearby. I began to stray further away, searching for him, until I eventually spotted a grey, furry corpse in the distance. I approached slowly, mentally preparing myself to say goodbye to my loyal companion. But when I got there, it was just a dead wolf. I continued to look around for Meeko, still fearing that he may have been killed, or the game just bugged out and I lost him, when suddenly I heard a bark, turned around and there he was, running toward me. One of the most joyful moments in my hundreds of hours playing Skyrim.
Take Barbas. If you don't finish his quest, he can't be killed , and you can keep him permanently. Looks the same as meeko, and you can still add an additional follower.

In the case of Erandur, it says his mana is 10. It's possible that his low mana level is disregarded when he is a Follower but he's so colorless that I didn't delve farther with him.

I legit started crying when I first heard the line Erik has about his "new life as an adventurer". Knowing the backstory just makes that line hit me in the feels.
+Monawar Rajayki You can with the dev console by typing ` and then selecting Erik(just click on him). In the console you type setlevel 1000,0,1,81 where 81 is the top level he will max out at. You can make it a higher number, though I never do. I have yet to get a character to 50. The mod Amazing Follower Tweaks(AFT) also allows you to manually set a follower's level, and even tweak his stats and perks.
I use the Amazing Follower Tweaks mod & usually force the first NPC that insults me after getting the quest to follow me to their death at the hands of Boethia. Skyrim is pretty empty when you're a murder hobo.
Currently my steward, sometimes I take him along, but wouldn't want the inexperienced adventurer to be out of his depths. Besides he does get some action protecting my homestead in The Pale.
You forgot the best follower. His name is M’aiq. M’aiq is cool. M’aiq loves fighting. M’aiq once had fire in his hand, and accidentally burned himself. M’aiq is a pro.
I took Meeko as a companion for like a minute, then sent him home, where a loving wife, two children, a housecarl and a bard awaited him. Also, I really hope they will immortalize Shirley Curry in TES VI like they did with Erik.
I do like the reaction J'zargo gives the Dragonborn when you hand in that quest and pick the one that has "Was the spell supposed to explode around me?" and his response is pretty much "Um...no?"
"Were they supposed to explode? Because they exploded." Which is also what you can tell Moira Brown in Fallout 3 when you test the molerat repellent. This makes J'zargo obligated to write the Skyrim Survival Guide.
Oh god jzargo . I made the mistake in taking Lydia to the college of winterhold and he accidentally hit me with a lightning bolt and Lydia murdered him to death
i had a simular experience in the first companions mission, when i started the brawl with vilkas, lydia got out a greatsword and started killing everyone
That's why Lydia is the best. That girl will fuck everything up by killing everyone, stand in every trap with zero fucks given and my personal favorite, tell you sarcastically that she is "I'm sworn to carry your burdens".
I like Erandur. He’s got TONS of cool dialogue. Every where you go it seems he’s got some remark about the history or his history. He’s really very good with those flame spells as well and follows well.
You can also get the shezzarine mod and get a whole new quest line and a follower that can be annoyed pleased and dead even though he is important in the quest

The Erik quest was surprisingly wholesome. His dad was only against him being an adventurer because they couldn't afford to get him good armor and he didn't want his son to get hurt
I always loved Marcurio as a companion. He is like the older brother who really wants to see you fuck up, but also wont hesistate to risk his life for you as soon as you get into serious trouble.
Do NOT get Teldryn Sero as a companion... He will kill everything, and steal *all* your glory. Your game effectively becomes _The Teldryn Sero Show._ :(
Erik the Slayer has always been my favorite follower second to Serana. Has a more interesting personality than others, and I like the fact that we're ushering him into adventuring. I like to think years down the road he'll have made a real name for himself, earned the name "Slayer", and tells tales of the mighty Dragonborn, his close friend whom he owes everything to
Cole Jenkins I usually sacrifice him to that Boethia daedra lord , seems fitting to spend the time to get him all geared up and excited and take him to his death on his first adventure
One thing that makes J'Zargo super powerful that most people don't realize is that he is the ONLY follower in the game with a Heavy Armor skill level of 100 so if you outfit him in battlemage gear he will get the absolute most out of it, also in the unmodded game you can make any follower your level by double tapping them with the Wabbajack.
Teldryn Sero(who summons a flame atronach often), two flame thrills, and a riekling Warrior. I barely even have to fight anymore I just stroll about grabbing loot

Amanda S when i had her, she somehow survived getting smashed by a troll when hunting doing the mammoth tusk quest. Like that bastard launched her into orbit to the point where i coulda brought back the “Shooting Stars” meme. I thought she was dead. Completed the quest and went back to where she was only to see her standing in the same spot. ....And then she gets killed by a goddamn arrow when rescuing a missing grey-mane held hostage.
I thought the story behind Erik was really cool, so I went and got him as a follower. Then I found out about the one giant's club that followers can have. With Erik's potential 100 two-handed, it seemed obvious. Erik is an amazing follower, and his positive spirit keeps things light-hearted. I love having him as a follower. I started a quest for the Companions, finished it, and went back to Erik's hometown to pick him up. He wasn't there. Where could he be? He should have come right home, right? Definitely. So I went back to Whiterun to search for him a bit. Nothing. Erik was gone. Over the next few days, I'd go back to see if Erik was home. I did a lot of stuff without him and it didn't feel right. I had to find Erik. I went back to Whiterun, and set a waypoint to Rorikstead. Using Clairvoyance should give me route an NPC might take, was my thought. I was right! He got stuck on some rocks not far from Whiterun! Silly Erik. Can smash a dragon, but walking over or around some rocks is too hard. Whatever, I'm glad he's okay and back questing with me!
My favorite saying of his, "I'm glad I'm finally traveling with someone who seems competent, my last patron was was killed trying to tackle an entire fort of bandits alone."
Erik the Slayer was hands down my favorite follower when i played on one of my favorite characters. His personality was nice and polite enough, quite a happy follower. The fact that all his gear has nothing to do with his tag skills was step 1 on my love of him. Followed by him several times looting chests and enemies before i could so he had a new weapon didnt hurt either. What solidified my love was him fighting a giant, and their... well known and varied bugs... After getting launched to the moon and landing, he constantly was stuck for several ingame months in the knocked down pose, but STILL fighting and acting like normal, just lying down clipped through the ground. walking sideways, and swinging his weapon, the only time he would upright was when he was spoken to and depending no the terrain around us, the only thing visible was his shadow cast where his body should be. Erik the Layer never left my side since
Gummy Bread im like that right now. Because of him, i completed the Red Eagle quest i slowly have made him OP with stronger weapons, shields, and armors. Currently i have him with an enchanted dwarven blade of scorching. All i really need to do is charge it up with gems after a while. But other than that, he’s been kicking ass alongside me for a while. And i put it upon myself to be sure he’s got good health in battle
Lydia is famous for that. You can try to run and bump her out of the way but she just stumbles back a little and walks forward and stands there blocking your path once again. 🤣
If you run the Dragonborn DLC one of the Black Books will give you the Active Magic Effect that prevents you from harming a follower, once you complete the book and select that effect from the list of choices that you will be presented.
Try Cicero, on top of being a hilarious sweet boy he is also freakin immortal (I suppose because he is a main character for the dark brotherhood) I think Serana is immortal too for the same reasons.
My personal favorite follower is Jenassa. She has a lot of personality, a lot of interesting dialogue about a variety of places you might visit, and she dual-wields. Plus, I think she is one of the hottest Dark Elves, pre-mod. Also, I am a huge fan of Farkas and Vilkas, depending on whether you want a two-hander or one-hander. Vilkas is a bit better because he's tougher, but Farkas has a cool beard, and he's hilarious.
I always get Jenassa first thing when I get to Whiterun. Then have her help me keep the guards alive at the Western Watchtower when fighting the first dragon. Then I make her a nanny and leave her at home, because she's too hot to have distracting my male companions... that's My job.
I like wandering around skyrim with her. The only thing I dislike is when she says skyrim is for the nords. I still think she's adapting to her thane khajiit.
Personally, I love Cicero. He can't die which is handy, he also has the WEIRDEST dialogue ever and I love it... Also he moves when you need him to... Unlike a certain Housecarl
I love Teldryn, because he is the ideal companion to my sneeky archer. He never gets in the way of my shooting or stirrs the suspicion of foes like all the dumb huscarls.
Forgot his name, but one of my favorites is the Argonian somewhere near a cave on the way to Riften. Dual wields with a sword and pickaxe...he's a beast. Believe he unkillable also.
The same here. I roleplay as argonian warrior migrating from black marsh as received a vision from Hist tree - I pretend Derkeethus was my egg brother.
I always travel with Jenassa. She's always been my favorite. She says all the time. "We're one and the same, you and I." And makes me feel like she just gets me.
Using her right now myself. It has been tricky giving her better weapons and armor over time, because it's not clear what she will or will not equip. She went a long time seemingly refusing to wear any armor. Now she has on [I think] horned scale armor that I smithed to Exquisite. I thought her rule was only using Light Armor, but she does us an Ebony axe and an Orcish Shield. That aside, my biggest gripe with her is that she tends to rush into battle when I've scoped out a good spot for me to take pot shots from afar, so she draws out all the enemies quickly when what I want to do is pick off at least a few of them before moving in. So for a bunch of situations, I've had to go back to a save before the battle spot and figure out a different approach so that I can continue to blast the enemies while she's in there taking hits 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, etc. Oh, and she often gets in the way of my firing lines, so I do sometimes need to give up my secure position so that I can move to another place for a clear shot.

I've always avoided taking him along because I didnt want him to die to a dragon or something! also i think my favorite thing about teldryn is that he always picks the least flattering times to say his 'its good to work with someone competent for once' line. i nearly spat out my drink once when he said it while i was jumping up and down like an idiot trying to catch butterflies. and its super good to see Erandur on this list. He's always been my favorite.
Non of the dogs are essential with out mods or console commands unfortunately. I've seen Meeko dead many times before I could save him from random encounters that happen near that cabin.
Sero is one of my favorite followers! Whenever I find myself at the Wretching Netch, I just HAVE to hire him! Aww... I always liked Erik, so learning more about his character just makes me like him a whole lot more!

You should mention Illya. You only have one chance to get her as a follower, and if you ever let her leave you, you can never get her back. She's the mage in Darklight Tower that you help defeat all of the other mages, and finally help her kill her "mother" If you have a companion when you do the quest, you can't take her as a follower, but if you don't have a follower, it gives you an option to invite her to travel with you. She is the most powerful mage in destruction magic that you can get, and kills many things you fight with, before you can even get to them. If you ever part ways with her, she's unobtainable a second time. To keep her, I kept her as a follower until I built my own manor. When you build a house, she offers to be a steward, and will always be a guard of your property. Other than that, you still can't take her as a follower again, but you can keep her around your house.
No, you can still get her back. Source: did her quest while I was running a sneak mage who solos and exploits silent casting invisibility, so a follower usually wrecked my stealth kill plans. I refused her offer and she stays at Darklight Tower (where her quest is) until you're ready. She can get lost on the way back there, though, in which case good luck finding where she went
Yeah ilia is easily the strongest mage. I would use her for long but I like to switch up my followers ever so often and she does spam my kills sometimes. Having her as a steward would be the best option. She can easily gaurd you house against bandits and even do well against giants
Finally, some Marcurio love. No matter what I play as, I marry Marcurio so I can get him for free when I want him. I see people kill him just to get his robes and it always seems like such a waste of a great follower.

Serena is annoying. She have that noise glitch when casting spells, she revives dead bodies all the time( as conjurer with the dead thrall, that is dangerous), she spams that weak draining spell... I really like her too, but she gets on my nerves very often.
I think she is listed as essential thats why I pick her. The others allways die due to arrows in their back when they jump in my arrows splitseconds after i released them of my bow...
One time she ressurrected a giant frostbite spider, and i really don't like spiders, but i didn't want to fight it because that would freak me out, so i had to deal with it, stupid serena
Favorite follower? Teldryn Sero. After finally removing his helmet, I found a very handsome fellow staring at me. He is an amazing follower. Him and his conjured flame atronach have helped many times!

Taldyrn met Jiiub and must be hundreds of years old? AND he's a Dunmer? Taldyrn is the Nerevarine. #plottwist #classicsneverdie Edit: okay I put this as a joke but now I'm thinking about it. He's found on solstheim, which is one of a few possible stopping points on the way back from Akavir, the last place we know the Nerevarine went. Elsewhere in the game, Sheogorath drops a hint he's the Champion of Cyrodiil in a similar fashion, saying he was there for Martin's sacrifice. Taldyrn being a Spellsword means he's well rounded, and as such takes into account players that played mages, warriors, thieves, etc. Teldryn can do it all. We know the Nerevarine is still alive, provided he hasn't been slain, because he's immortal biologically because of his Corpus. It could actually be him, I mean I'm sure there's almost no real evidence but the head Canon could work

The line "If anyone sneaks up on us, I'll smell them coming, or I might not. We will see." Is also said by Kharjo, the only other khajiit follower in the game, so it is just a line unique to khajiit followers, rather than having anything to do with J'zargo's personality.
YES! She’s been my follower with my hammer wielding Orc! She’s great because she’s ranged while I charge in to smash heads! I feel like she’s severely overlooked as a follower.
As an Australian I can clarify this is correct. We do have 3 out of 5 of the deadliest spiders in the world, and I think we have 7 out of 12 of the deadliest snakes in the world. So, yeah, practically the same place because Skyrim has Sabre Cats, Wolves, *FALMER* , Horkers, bandits, every NPC in the game, etc... Why did you do this to us, Divines? Tamriel could have been a nice place with no bad people but you do this!
Omg I'm so glad Erandur is on this list. I feel like most players don't tend to have him as a follower (and some may not even know he CAN become a follower) because they kill him to take the Skull of Corruption. I love Erandur because he has a surprising amount of dialogue for a vanilla, non-DLC follower. (I do use mods to make him a better fighter, though).
After you get the artifact achievement, you can just save him in all other plays. Or if you don't care about achievements. (or play on the Switch which has no achievements anyway)
Erik the Slayer has another benefit that I like to exploit. He is one of the only followers who uses a two handed weapon but also wears light armor. If you want to make him a little more useful, load him with high end light armor and a killer two handed weapon. Then you can take him well past level 40, he can hold his own by your side, and has plenty of room for loot along the way!
Erik was my first follower that I ended up hiring seemingly by accident lol but after adventuring with him for a while it seemed there was a natural affinity. I was a Dunmer who would often sneak around and pick off enemies with my bound bow. If things started to get a little out of control Erik would always be there to stand in the way of any threat. He was truly a stalwart hero. I never needed another follower after that day.
I like Mjoll the Lioness, but it’s kinda immersion-breaking when you’re receiving the blessing from the Greybeards, that has not been spoken to anyone else but Talos himself when he climbed the steps to High Hrothgar... and she’s just sitting there in the background talkin’ about the cutpurse who soiled his armor when she drew Grimsever FOR THE MILLIONTH DAMN TIME.
Ignacio Sanchez so did I lol. Fairly certain she caps at lvl 40 just like the other mercenary followers. The only ones with a higher cap are the housecarls, at lvl 50, Serana as well. I know that J’zargo at the College of Winterhold has a way bigger level cap though.
For me it's always J'zargo or Cicero, if I could bring two followers I would have choosen these two, both are very fun to have around and they are very strong and good in combat and none of them care if I steal or murder someone I don't like.

One thing about Erandur... on that initial quest you're actually *his* follower. His level is 50% higher than yours and he's telling you what to do.

@@stephenburkholder8894 I have a mod called 'Amazing Follower Tweaks' that includes within your follower interactions the ability to see their statistics. In the case of Erandur, it says his mana is 10. It's possible that his low mana level is disregarded when he is a Follower but he's so colorless that I didn't delve farther with him.

+Monawar Rajayki You can with the dev console by typing ` and then selecting Erik(just click on him). In the console you type setlevel 1000,0,1,81 where 81 is the top level he will max out at. You can make it a higher number, though I never do. I have yet to get a character to 50.
The mod Amazing Follower Tweaks(AFT) also allows you to manually set a follower's level, and even tweak his stats and perks.

I like Erandur. He’s got TONS of cool dialogue. Every where you go it seems he’s got some remark about the history or his history. He’s really very good with those flame spells as well and follows well.
Erandur is just Skyrim's watered-down version of Joshua Graham
You can also get the shezzarine mod and get a whole new quest line and a follower that can be annoyed pleased and dead even though he is important in the quest

Erik the Slayer has always been my favorite follower second to Serana. Has a more interesting personality than others, and I like the fact that we're ushering him into adventuring. I like to think years down the road he'll have made a real name for himself, earned the name "Slayer", and tells tales of the mighty Dragonborn, his close friend whom he owes everything to

One thing that makes J'Zargo super powerful that most people don't realize is that he is the ONLY follower in the game with a Heavy Armor skill level of 100 so if you outfit him in battlemage gear he will get the absolute most out of it, also in the unmodded game you can make any follower your level by double tapping them with the Wabbajack.
Teldryn Sero(who summons a flame atronach often), two flame thrills, and a riekling Warrior. I barely even have to fight anymore I just stroll about grabbing loot

Amanda S when i had her, she somehow survived getting smashed by a troll when hunting doing the mammoth tusk quest. Like that bastard launched her into orbit to the point where i coulda brought back the “Shooting Stars” meme. I thought she was dead. Completed the quest and went back to where she was only to see her standing in the same spot.
....And then she gets killed by a goddamn arrow when rescuing a missing grey-mane held hostage.
When i left whiterun with lydia straight after getting her as a follower some bounyy hunters/mercenarys attacked us ... she died
I thought the story behind Erik was really cool, so I went and got him as a follower. Then I found out about the one giant's club that followers can have. With Erik's potential 100 two-handed, it seemed obvious. Erik is an amazing follower, and his positive spirit keeps things light-hearted. I love having him as a follower.
I started a quest for the Companions, finished it, and went back to Erik's hometown to pick him up. He wasn't there. Where could he be? He should have come right home, right? Definitely. So I went back to Whiterun to search for him a bit. Nothing. Erik was gone. Over the next few days, I'd go back to see if Erik was home. I did a lot of stuff without him and it didn't feel right. I had to find Erik.
I went back to Whiterun, and set a waypoint to Rorikstead. Using Clairvoyance should give me route an NPC might take, was my thought. I was right! He got stuck on some rocks not far from Whiterun! Silly Erik. Can smash a dragon, but walking over or around some rocks is too hard. Whatever, I'm glad he's okay and back questing with me!

Erik the Slayer was hands down my favorite follower when i played on one of my favorite characters. His personality was nice and polite enough, quite a happy follower. The fact that all his gear has nothing to do with his tag skills was step 1 on my love of him. Followed by him several times looting chests and enemies before i could so he had a new weapon didnt hurt either. What solidified my love was him fighting a giant, and their... well known and varied bugs... After getting launched to the moon and landing, he constantly was stuck for several ingame months in the knocked down pose, but STILL fighting and acting like normal, just lying down clipped through the ground. walking sideways, and swinging his weapon, the only time he would upright was when he was spoken to and depending no the terrain around us, the only thing visible was his shadow cast where his body should be.

Gummy Bread im like that right now. Because of him, i completed the Red Eagle quest i slowly have made him OP with stronger weapons, shields, and armors. Currently i have him with an enchanted dwarven blade of scorching. All i really need to do is charge it up with gems after a while. But other than that, he’s been kicking ass alongside me for a while. And i put it upon myself to be sure he’s got good health in battle
My favorite is Erik. He's the Luke Skywalker of Skyrim. The backstory of the real Erik made me like and respect him even more
I tend to go alone, since i almost always accidentally kill any followers or they just stand in my way in the first place.
Lydia is famous for that. You can try to run and bump her out of the way but she just stumbles back a little and walks forward and stands there blocking your path once again. 🤣

If you run the Dragonborn DLC one of the Black Books will give you the Active Magic Effect that prevents you from harming a follower, once you complete the book and select that effect from the list of choices that you will be presented.
Try Cicero, on top of being a hilarious sweet boy he is also freakin immortal (I suppose because he is a main character for the dark brotherhood)
I think Serana is immortal too for the same reasons.

My personal favorite follower is Jenassa. She has a lot of personality, a lot of interesting dialogue about a variety of places you might visit, and she dual-wields. Plus, I think she is one of the hottest Dark Elves, pre-mod. Also, I am a huge fan of Farkas and Vilkas, depending on whether you want a two-hander or one-hander. Vilkas is a bit better because he's tougher, but Farkas has a cool beard, and he's hilarious.
Farkas ratted me out for stealing the firebrand wine for that Khajit in solitude. Cost me 6000 bounty. Needless to say he was assasinated after that

I always get Jenassa first thing when I get to Whiterun. Then have her help me keep the guards alive at the Western Watchtower when fighting the first dragon.

I always travel with Jenassa. She's always been my favorite. She says all the time. "We're one and the same, you and I." And makes me feel like she just gets me.
Shes my favorite too. Can't help but marry her as well.
Using her right now myself. It has been tricky giving her better weapons and armor over time, because it's not clear what she will or will not equip. She went a long time seemingly refusing to wear any armor. Now she has on [I think] horned scale armor that I smithed to Exquisite. I thought her rule was only using Light Armor, but she does us an Ebony axe and an Orcish Shield.
That aside, my biggest gripe with her is that she tends to rush into battle when I've scoped out a good spot for me to take pot shots from afar, so she draws out all the enemies quickly when what I want to do is pick off at least a few of them before moving in. So for a bunch of situations, I've had to go back to a save before the battle spot and figure out a different approach so that I can continue to blast the enemies while she's in there taking hits 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, etc. Oh, and she often gets in the way of my firing lines, so I do sometimes need to give up my secure position so that I can move to another place for a clear shot.
I do find her saying of "We're one and the same, you and I" very endearing too.

Non of the dogs are essential with out mods or console commands unfortunately. I've seen Meeko dead many times before I could save him from random encounters that happen near that cabin.

Dude Erandur is my absolute favorite companion in all of Skyrim. I love his ambient dialogue and his spell sword style of fighting. He's awesome.

You should mention Illya. You only have one chance to get her as a follower, and if you ever let her leave you, you can never get her back. She's the mage in Darklight Tower that you help defeat all of the other mages, and finally help her kill her "mother" If you have a companion when you do the quest, you can't take her as a follower, but if you don't have a follower, it gives you an option to invite her to travel with you. She is the most powerful mage in destruction magic that you can get, and kills many things you fight with, before you can even get to them. If you ever part ways with her, she's unobtainable a second time. To keep her, I kept her as a follower until I built my own manor. When you build a house, she offers to be a steward, and will always be a guard of your property. Other than that, you still can't take her as a follower again, but you can keep her around your house.
No, you can still get her back. Source: did her quest while I was running a sneak mage who solos and exploits silent casting invisibility, so a follower usually wrecked my stealth kill plans.
I refused her offer and she stays at Darklight Tower (where her quest is) until you're ready. She can get lost on the way back there, though, in which case good luck finding where she went
Yeah ilia is easily the strongest mage. I would use her for long but I like to switch up my followers ever so often and she does spam my kills sometimes. Having her as a steward would be the best option. She can easily gaurd you house against bandits and even do well against giants
Rockjoint has been the cause of my characters death zero times.
Mercurio, The Sellsword of Riften, I always get him on early game the best mercenary i've got so far.
Finally, some Marcurio love. No matter what I play as, I marry Marcurio so I can get him for free when I want him. I see people kill him just to get his robes and it always seems like such a waste of a great follower.

Serena is annoying. She have that noise glitch when casting spells, she revives dead bodies all the time( as conjurer with the dead thrall, that is dangerous), she spams that weak draining spell... I really like her too, but she gets on my nerves very often.
I think she is listed as essential thats why I pick her. The others allways die due to arrows in their back when they jump in my arrows splitseconds after i released them of my bow...

One time she ressurrected a giant frostbite spider, and i really don't like spiders, but i didn't want to fight it because that would freak me out, so i had to deal with it, stupid serena
Favorite follower? Teldryn Sero. After finally removing his helmet, I found a very handsome fellow staring at me. He is an amazing follower. Him and his conjured flame atronach have helped many times!
How does one remove his helmet?
@@robuxyyyyyyyyyy4708 It has been awhile since I removed his helmet. I used the Perfect Touch perk in the Pickpocketing tree. I also believe I had to release him as a follower and then removed it from his inventory, then rehired him.
I had to give glitched armor that made Teldryn Sero immortal, I didn't want such a legend die so easy

Edit: okay I put this as a joke but now I'm thinking about it.
He's found on solstheim, which is one of a few possible stopping points on the way back from Akavir, the last place we know the Nerevarine went.
Elsewhere in the game, Sheogorath drops a hint he's the Champion of Cyrodiil in a similar fashion, saying he was there for Martin's sacrifice.
Taldyrn being a Spellsword means he's well rounded, and as such takes into account players that played mages, warriors, thieves, etc. Teldryn can do it all.
We know the Nerevarine is still alive, provided he hasn't been slain, because he's immortal biologically because of his Corpus.
It could actually be him, I mean I'm sure there's almost no real evidence but the head Canon could work

As an Australian I can clarify this is correct. We do have 3 out of 5 of the deadliest spiders in the world, and I think we have 7 out of 12 of the deadliest snakes in the world. So, yeah, practically the same place because Skyrim has Sabre Cats, Wolves, *FALMER* , Horkers, bandits, every NPC in the game, etc...

Omg I'm so glad Erandur is on this list. I feel like most players don't tend to have him as a follower (and some may not even know he CAN become a follower) because they kill him to take the Skull of Corruption. I love Erandur because he has a surprising amount of dialogue for a vanilla, non-DLC follower. (I do use mods to make him a better fighter, though).
i think another problem most players who don't want him are also because his stats in combat suck. kinda like farkas
After you get the artifact achievement, you can just save him in all other plays. Or if you don't care about achievements. (or play on the Switch which has no achievements anyway)
Erik the Slayer has another benefit that I like to exploit. He is one of the only followers who uses a two handed weapon but also wears light armor. If you want to make him a little more useful, load him with high end light armor and a killer two handed weapon. Then you can take him well past level 40, he can hold his own by your side, and has plenty of room for loot along the way!
Jazargo and serana are my two favorite characters by far. I love his quotes and overall personality
J'Zargo is OK, but Serana is some vampire with ADHD. Only advance she is essential. (unkillable).

In vanilla, Kharjo is the love of my life. In mods, Inigo is the brother I should have had. 💗
Erik was my first follower that I ended up hiring seemingly by accident lol but after adventuring with him for a while it seemed there was a natural affinity. I was a Dunmer who would often sneak around and pick off enemies with my bound bow. If things started to get a little out of control Erik would always be there to stand in the way of any threat. He was truly a stalwart hero. I never needed another follower after that day.
I like Mjoll the Lioness, but it’s kinda immersion-breaking when you’re receiving the blessing from the Greybeards, that has not been spoken to anyone else but Talos himself when he climbed the steps to High Hrothgar... and she’s just sitting there in the background talkin’ about the cutpurse who soiled his armor when she drew Grimsever FOR THE MILLIONTH DAMN TIME.

Ignacio Sanchez so did I lol. Fairly certain she caps at lvl 40 just like the other mercenary followers. The only ones with a higher cap are the housecarls, at lvl 50, Serana as well. I know that J’zargo at the College of Winterhold has a way bigger level cap though.

For me it's always J'zargo or Cicero, if I could bring two followers I would have choosen these two, both are very fun to have around and they are very strong and good in combat and none of them care if I steal or murder someone I don't like.
