Scroll Saw Clean up. I stole this tool!

- Bought this Dremel scroll saw at an estate sale (where most of my tools come from) for only $15. It looked horrible and was pack full of spiders, spider eggs, stink bugs and mouse evidence. It cleaned up really nicely! Biggest challenge was the rusty table which Evaporust and some elbow grease took care of. My skills on this tool will need some work, but I'm glad to have added it to my shop. I hope you will enjoy this video. Thanks for following along with me on my journey of learning!

You remind me very much of myself. My neighbour was moving out of province, and he GAVE me his old DELTA 2 speed 16"scroll saw. The only thing missing on it was the hold down foot (I think that's what it's called). An internet search proved fruitless, as they're not available anywhere. Can't complain, though...it was free. :) Nice job on yours though. You cleaned it up real nice.
Thank you very much. It's always disappointing when you can't find that old part. Internet is great but sometimes provides a false hope, LOL. Thanks for watching!
Re: Allen wrenches: Yeah, only mine are in a bigger tray. Cool idea on hanging it on a French cleat. I may do that with mine.
haha. The French cleat is working well! Thanks for watching.
Appreciate you sharing this video and your restoration efforts. I had never heard of Evaporust good information ? Great job! I’m hoping to get one soon, but certainly not for $15 unfortunately. I found an air nozzle on EBay but it cost more than you paid for the scroll saw.
Thank ya very much! Give the Evaporust a try, it's great stuff! For as often as I use the scroll saw the air nozzle is not an issue, I just get a lung workout blowing the dust off!
This video was very helpful, I’m looking to restore an old craftsman 16 that I just acquired. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
No i pięknie. Wyczyścić, przemalować, nasmarować i maszyna jak nowa!
Fajnie wyszło.
Zdrowia i powodzenia życzę.
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Wishing health and success as well.
Dziękuję i cieszę się, że film Ci się spodobał. Życzę również zdrowia i sukcesów.
You got a great deal on that !!. Cant believe you pulled the right key out on the first try. Never happens. Pretty clever way to store it. Great video I am really enjoying seeing all the different projects you do in your shop. catch ya later Brother.
Thanks George. I'm having a blast with the videos. I have a pretty good Wilton video coming out soon.
Very nice. I like how you hug it on the wall
Thanks! French Cleat systems are great way to hang just about anything on a wall.
Nice 15 dollar saw good job putting it back to work
Thanks 👍
Great job!
Great Job !! Congrats !!
Thank you so much 😀
great video
Appreciate it and thanks for watching.
Hi David, my name’s George Alarcón, new subscriber.
Just finished watching your cleanup video of the Dremel scroll saw, you did a great job on it.
My older brother gave me the exact scroll saw shown on your video, before he passed away several years ago.
To this day I haven’t attempted refurbishing it as it’s missing several parts. I was wondering if you know a website where I might be able to look for theses parts.
When I plugged it in, it wouldn’t start, but then I realized that it was also missing the main power switch at the bottom.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
Hi George, thanks for subbing to the channel. I appreciate the kind comments as well. I struggled to find much about these at all, everywhere I looked it said "discontinued". I wish I had better info for you. -David
Just got one of these for free - never used back in the day, literally never run. So I did same cleaning as well but didn’t split mine apart, does make me wonder if I should now? BJust ordered blades and brushes for motor as back up. Things are bad ass.
That's awesome! I'm waiting on a project where I need it, as I haven't had a lot of time to use it yet. Mine probably would have been just fine if I didn't open it up, I just wanted to see how bad it was inside.
There are some plastic bottles that you could use in place of the bellows, look up bellow bottles. You can also fine the air vent tube or just use a oice of rubber hose. Funny thing is I just bought a model just like this at a pawn, paid more than you did!
Great suggestions and I appreciate it very much! I will look into the bottles. I've never thought about checking pawn shops for deals, going to start looking into that!
Hi I’m looking for a scroll saw that is good and quiet ( I know most are loud) what model & brand is yours here?
Mine is Dremel, but I don't think they make them anymore. good luck on your search!
Cool! Now, where in the South are you located 😊
I live in NC

Can anyone help me with the instructions to re assemble Dremel 1671 scroll saw?
That is a tough one to answer for sure! I don't ever have specific instructions on how to assemble anything, but I will tell you RUclips is a great resource. I wish you the best in getting yours back to working order. Thanks for watching
Try some aquarium tubing with some aluminum wire wrapped around it. Works for me 👍
Ah, that is a great idea! Thanks for watching and sharing. I'll give your idea a try.
