    This pad work is designed to make floyd react faster to the opponent attack
    By giving him cues. His uncle a former champion himself dip his shoulder or turns his hip to cue up a specific punch and floyd simply goes in to his pre set sequence. It's simple and effective ways to train and translates masterful in to the ring. And it show his Uncle and father boxing IQ. Roger might be the polisher of the sword however floyd sr. Is the maker of it.

    • @mtotheg93
      @mtotheg93 3 года назад +10

      @@rolandharris2706 It's an old question but if I may add my two cents. Mitt work in a boxing gym comes with vocal cues at the start. The basic standard from the orthodox stance being: 1 (jab), 2 (straight right), 3 (left hook). In the beginning your coach would yell something like "1-1-2" or "1-2-3". After a while you would add defensive maneuvers after each combination, e.g. after a 1-2-3, you would weave to your left whilst pivoting to the same direction with your back foot. Once you get used to it, you know that certain defensive moves "come naturally" or are intuitive after certain punches. Notice that Roger gives very little vocal cues, if at all. Floyd is working off of visual cues, and I assume the purpose of this is to drill into his brain an arrangement of offensive + defensive movements that will leave him in a relatively safe spot during a fight.

But I respect Floyd and like millions of other people have been very entertained by Floyd and his pops and his Uncle Roger who let us know that most of us "Don't Know Shit About Boxing!"
