I was so relieved to have gotten the red gem today. Now I have officially clocked the first game. If anyone asks how I managed to get to the end without dying, I entered the level with two Aku Aku masks. Well actually I was given them out of pity because I kept dying when I was trying to make it to the end of the level in order to do the next level 'Lights Out'. The fact that I kept dying while making aborted attempts at earning a Sapphire Relic certainly paid off. As I was able to familiarise myself with the first half of the level which is definitely harder than the second half. With careful timing, I was able to make it to the Brio Bonus Round without dying. Though I did lose two Aku Aku masks on the way. The Aku Aku masks that I obtained before doing the Brio Bonus Round were lost during the bonus round, since I wasn't familiar enough with the bonus round to nail it on my first attempt. And even then, there's still a good chance of me screwing up the harder bonus rounds, regardless of how familiar I am with them. When I finally approached the end of the level, I saw that beaker throwing Lab Assistant standing in front of the portal, and I thought 'Oh no, please don't kill me, not now when I'm this close'. Thankfully I discovered that he was only throwing beakers in one spot, which made it easier to approach him and spin him away. And with that, I got the red gem along with the clear gems from 'Native Fortress' and 'Road to Nowhere'.
regardless of how many platinums I door do not have, I can't be bothered to learn how to record gameplay from a console.. sounds like too much time and money to waste
that last jump is troublesome i always die at that point im always struggling with that window jump falling from window wont help but you jumped on that platform that came up i wish i could have tried that jumping on the platform trick

I'd never played Crash 1 back in the day. Nor 2. Only Warped. So I was pretty stoked to beat Slippery Climb and nab the Red Gem my first go ahead. Then Lights Out sorta destroyed me 😂😂😂
It wouldn't be as bad - if the jumping mechanics in the remaster weren't sucky. Never had an issue in the original games, but in the remaster, sometimes you will slip off an edge despite making the jump just fine. Add the pressure sensitive jumping and its a nightmare. I have to hold X down to make a 'normal' jump like in Crash 1 - or else Crash won't make it. I hated that. I suffer from RSI sometimes too, so holding X down the entire level makes me hands hurt sometimes This level was such a pain (literally).. the last coloured gem to find for me to find.
this is the reason I will not bother to do a gem run on crash 1, I will never 100% it this way and rage away at this, I 100% crash 2 was hard but at least it's not next to impossible like this

So if you didn't break all the boxes in a level without dying, you didn't really do anything on that level, except unlock the next one. Thankfully, that requirement was scrapped in the next two games and from Crash 1 NST. Now we just need to do that for colored gems (so in 6 levels only). Stormy Ascent was a cut level in PS1, but you could play it with a code so imagine getting the gem there. Someone uploaded that in a video, and he said it took him around 50 attempts; imagine all the boxes in Stormy Ascent without dying. He called it a "nightmare".
I died after reaching and defeating bonus level. Almost to the end. Edit: I reached this level if I was drunk. Such in level Lights out on the first attempt (without alcohol I tried a lot of attempts)
Shadowrealm150 they add checkpoint boxes and doobla das the more lives you lose on a level. So if you've attempted Slipery Climb and keep dying they give you these to help. +5 lives on same checkpoint Doobla Da +10 lives on same checkpoint Gold Doobla Da +15 lives Doobla Da box replaces standard box +20 lives Checkpoint box replaces standard box

I died and somehow i got the red gem. I didn't quit and go back to the island and go back in to slippery climb. i died then completed the level and somehow i got the red gem.
Abdulqader Ali If you mean the bonus level, absolutely! Dying in bonus levels won't penalize you. You can keep trying and trying as it won't discount your chance of getting the gem. But if you die in the main level, you'll have to start all over again.
Honestly, why does everyone find this level so hard? Got this gem first try on my playthroughs (already have all 3 platinum trophies). Had much more trouble on The Lab and High Road gems

Side scrolling is generally easier to gauge jumps than running towards or away from the screen. When this game came out, the bridge levels were the ones that tended to give a lot of people trouble. Your confidence in my deception is...unwarranted. There are far better players than I. Not everyone experiences the same learning curve. Some people played these games frequently since the mid 90's.

On 4:51 that’s the only thing that stopping me. I fail that jump every time when jumping back to the platform on the last window.
it's easier to jump onto the platform when it is on the bottom left cuz it has like a 1-2 second "freeze" while going up before going to the right

@@TheSuicune7 after you got past the first checkpoint it was a lot easier to complete, just hold the focus and coordinate the movement of the objects

I spent hours to get the Red Gem. Slippery Climb is truly one of the hardest levels in Crash 1, alongside High Road and Storm Ascent.

If you retry a level enough times from constantly dying, it replaces a normal box with checkpoint box to help the player.

The red gem here looks way better than the rest, due to it's darkness and deepness. All the others feel too pale.

Placing a coloured gem in this level is as big of an anticonsumer policy as microtransactions and lootboxes
