Excellent insights as always. My company's traffic was slashed by half after September HCU but this is the first time in a year we're starting to see a recovery. It's not a crazy surge like the examples you showed, but it's slow and steady. I don't mind, as long as it sticks, because in my opinion, the more explosive surges have a tendency to fall just as hard later on. BTW, I've noticed a huge increase in our Things to Know snippets as reported by SEMRush, but I'm not seeing any SEO gurus talk about that. Have you noticed anything with this particular type of snippet?
Hey, thank you. Glad you found my video helpful! And I've been covering the SERP features improvements with some sites, but not related to Things to Know. That's a great point and I'm seeing that across sites now. If you're on X, let me know. I'll give you credit for that find! Also, look for my next video later today. I'll be covering the latest with the August core update.
@@GlennGabe That's awesome! I'm looking forward to your next videos and updates. I'm no longer on X anymore but I do follow you on LinkedIn as well. However, I'd wish to remain anonymous lol. If you find anything worth sharing about Things to Know, feel free to do so without worrying about crediting me. Thanks for asking though. Appreciate it! :)
@@lordiblees Hey, no problem. Thanks again for pinging me about that. You are mentioned anonymously in Part 3 of "Core Update Notes", which I published yesterday. And on X this morning. :)
@@GlennGabe Just saw the video. Lots of great info there. And interesting to see your quick thoughts on that particular snippet because I only noticed that for my company's site and wasn't sure if there's a wider trend across the web here. Thanks so much! Always enjoy your analysis.
Right, there seems to be some type of connection for many sites. Sorry to hear you are down after surging then. I have many examples of the connection with those dates...
Yes. May 3-10 definitely was a vector change... we suddenly saw a downslope start on that day, which continues to this day. The current August update has increased the downward trend.
Accidentally left a link in last comment, so i'll try again: See cookscrafter site, which appears to have scraped americasrestaurant content, but i'm not an expert. It's 6 months old and surging since june with 80k visitors now, acc to Semrush. Lots of forum backlinks. Generic content with stock image.
I'm sorry to hear that! Things can change during an update as Google can push "tremors", or adjustments as the rollout continues. I've posted about that a lot over the years, even from medieval Panda days. Google's John Mueller confirmed they can do that with major algorithm updates... But there's no guarantee that will happen. Stay tuned. I'll be publishing more of these videos throughout the rollout.
Great info here. Thanks! ...and here I thought I was the only person still saying "gif"
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

Hi Glenn, do we know if any of those site surging have done anything on-site?
Some have, some haven't. And you can always see what was ranking before and what's ranking now.
Yes, it’s Jif 😄👍 Thanks for sharing your analysis
Thank you. In our case up on May 5. Down now (much more than we gained).

Without Redding going down none of this matters. Happy to share with you my results and how all of my competitors dropped and have not recovered

Things are looking bleak on my end
