    Amazing simple advice. You're my absolute fav online instructor! Once you get that "feel" for the slot and add your advice about the whip of the club like a towel... your distances sore. I've always been steep, so my irons are long and high. Hit down to hit high can work with irons, but with a driver this is dangerous. My power fade is not bad, but I wanted that upward strike to get more effortless distance with driver and I've found it! Yes you'll duck hook a few times as you adjust, but the effortless power will come with a bit of practice. Thank you for dispelling all the old golf instructor adages and vocab that can be impossible to correlate to feel. I could not have made them "real" without your simplified techniques. I now realize how much swing speed I've negated over the 3 decades I've played and how I've relied on my strength to compensate off the tee with the driver. I look back at friends and competitors that could never hit an iron as far as I could, but would be neck and neck with driver. What?! I hit a 56 wedge 90 yards so effortlessly with your technique in competition...bummer is that the pin was only 70 yards LOL. Joking aside, you have saved my back for more years of play, and increased swing speed. I feel far more relaxed on the course. Thank you!

    Adam. That was an excellent demonstration of how the hips swivel and move opposite the arms on the downswing. I have been watching and taking lessons for years and I have never seen it explained and more importantly demonstrated as clearly as this. The segment where you put your hands on the bag and rotate your hips so easily and rapidly was the key for me. This I can not do!!!!!!!!. I'm a 63 year old senior and I don't think I could do that even when I was young. LOL. Thanks for the insight. My back hurt just watching you. I guess I will never be a big hitter. Oh well. I will have to settle for 180 Yds drives on a good day. Take care.

    Adam, great video as always. Helps to explain how to increase club head speed and generate power. As you watch the video, note that all the pros keep that trailing elbow tucked in. That, along with the hip movement, is key. I can now hit my 3W off the tee 250Y w/o tons of effort.

    This video completely helped eliminate hooking the ball! I had no idea how uncoordinated my hips and shoulders were. One thing I did was imagined I was using a tempo trainer and right at the very end of the transition I had a swing thought to “unlock” my hips if that makes sense. I was getting so frustrated so thanks for the great lesson!

  • @kentirwin8850
    @kentirwin8850 3 года назад +1

    I've watched 3 of your videos on hip turn, really helpful, especially helps to prevent too much early overswinging with arms, and allows me to swing more inside to out with hands closer to body; seeing this right? Second question, where is your weight on left foot, inside or outside heal, as this (hip slide) seems to shift it outside, is that okay?

    • @Scratchgolfacademy
      @Scratchgolfacademy  3 года назад

      Thanks Kent.
      Yes, sounds like you are on the right track. Regards left foot, initially weight goes more to the ball of the left shoe, from there pushing up and back towards heel, maybe a little on outside of foot.

    Hi Adam, great content as usual? I note in the video that Bubba's toe line (stance) is quite open at address, but Paul Casey's are quite square? Does having them open at address help with the hip turn through the downswing? And can you please do a piece on the dreaded reverse pivot and the power loss it create's?

    • @Scratchgolfacademy

      Graham,
      Thanks. There have been a number of successful players that don't set their feet parallel to the target line.

    I like the Hal Sutton suggestion, feel like back hip is hitting the ball.

    3:56 excellent dance move. I will certainly take that to the dance floor.

      Excellent explanation Adam. I live in Spain and have a professor but I learn enormously with your explanations as with profesor I try to adjust my swing. With you I learn where I want to be. All the best for 2020!!!

    Great vid again. I always struggle with switching on too much power/torque at the top and then it feels like I lose the clubhead behind me. Do you think I should just waiting for gravity to start the downswing then switch the power on? 3hcap but play like a 20 when this happens.

      Hard to say without swing you swing, but with some experimentation on both ends of the scale you’ll find a good mix

    Hello Adam, this lesson was particularly helpful for me. Until now I have not been clearing my hips correctly. A noticeable improvement after doing the pause drill and practicing this on the range.
    I am an SGA Premium Member and I watch your RUclips videos as well as the Master collection videos on the SGA website. Have you ever considered putting the RUclips videos (or at least the links) on the SGA website?

    Watching all the things Tiger does in the course of a swing is intimidating.
