I've always thought No Reply was one of their most ingenious vocal arrangements. We're all aware of the early studio takes of this song. John knows what he's trying to do, but realizes he just can't get there ("I just can't get anywhere near the light right now....so you'll have to do it") talking to Paul. Brilliant musicians. Please Please Me had similar shared vocals - Paul had a pretty incredible high end. By the way - awesome job here.
I know I may be finding these videos seven years later but I am 19 now and covering Beatles songs. This channel is a gold mine. I cannot sincerely thank you enough. I may not be the best singer but because of you it sounds good. You are damn good at what you do too. Beatles has changed so many life's including mine and it takes that to a whole new level when you get the feeling of being able to reproduce their legendary music. All love to you!!
Bravo! Bravíssimo! Fantástico! No reply. The backing vocals are so high I'd never thought someone would make such an amazing reproducion of it's harmonies.
Amazing stuff as always. I've always loved this song, especially their harmony at the bridge. One thing though: I believe the lyrics in the verse are "Cause' you walked hand in hand...with another man in my place" instead of "Cause' you would come in hand". Just some friendly advice. Thanks for sharing! :)
Grazie a te Sto scoprendo quello che c'è dietro le armonizzazioni dei Beatles... talmente sono perfetti questi impasti vocali che all'ascolto quasi non ci si fa caso.
Now I am confused! I always considered Lennon as the superiors song writer. However, the more careful detailed observations leads me to believe that without Paul, Lennon's songs would not had been as good. Dang!!! If Paul was the one to harmonize to Lennon...He sure was (is?) a genius. It took Mr. Frudua to make me aware of this.
+John Smith Agree Mr. Smith. McCartney had great ideas to embellish John's songs. I've watched and listened to Lennon and McCartney solos and they lack ingredients that flavored each other. I am not saying that they are no good...they simply NEEDED each other. Even George lacks something. No question...they were 'The Beatles'.
+Javier Gonzalez Can't understate Lennon's ability to harmonize either though, his voice may not had the same range but in his range he had just as much control and virtuosity in his tone. Just listen to him and Paul do those crazy fast vocal runs in HARMONY with each other in songs. Also, John's vocal on "Anna" alone makes him just as good of a singer in his own way as Paul in my opinion.
+Smooth0vibrations They were awesome on lyrics, melodies and harmonies. They admired 'The Everley bros'. They stood on the shoulders of giants to become who they were. Later they become the giants for other bands, etc.
IMO, Lennon IS superior songwriter. Paul's songs have melodies, no doubt, but lacking depth of John's output. Sure, Paul added harmonies here, but No Reply is 100% John's idea. Paul would never sing anything like that in their early career (No Reply is about jealousy and hurt first of all). Only Lennon was expressing these things.
Do you think as the Beatles evolved that they planned their harmonies in a different or better way from when they first started recording? My uneducated opinion is that they always had great harmonies and that all their songs evolved as they practiced. That to me is why it is important for everyone to realize the input of all 4 because they all brought something to the completed song. What do you think?
+Tango Eliott Yes - even the individual songs often started out completely different than the official final product. One of the more spectacular transformations was " I'll Be Back." Lennon started this one as a waltz. It may be found here on RUclips. It exists at the end of one of the Anthology DVDs. It is unbelievable that this song went from his early musings Take 2/3 to the final product in 2x2 time on the same recording day. These guys could WRITE!
Hey man, make a video about Every Little Thing.... Millions of singers around the world have being trying to do it badly, unfortunately. For you know, the John's performance in this song is superb. Hugs.
Super job of breaking down the voices, thank's for sharing. Also have to agree with Ryan692 about the lyrics. Tour voice sounds great, wish i could go that high, but i break up way before the high note :-)
Una de las grandes compcisiones Beatles,,para mi esta entre las diez mejores ,,pero por laguna razon nunca tuvo el lugar que deberia ,,,es mi opinion ,,gracias
It's an under-appreciated gem. No Reply, I'm A Loser, Baby's In Black, Every Little Thing, I Don't Want To Spoil The Party, I'll Follow The Sun... all favorites of mine.
Hi, Galeazzo, excellent works, thanks. Have you however realised that the "double-tracked" John in the verse, which you have returned with an eco mic, is actually... Paul singing unisono and imitating John's voice? This particular John's timber had been deceiving most ppl, notably Mark Lewisohn.
rotanal Hi Paul sang the first takes at unison with John indeed but the last take that became the record is John solo doubletracked in the verse :) (Unless you have otherwise definitive sources)
Galeazzo, John's voice here sounds rather "artificial" (pls. compare to I'm A Loser, or Mr. Monlight). If you carefully listen to the verse, you can hear Paul's timber nuances, so as in verse of Eight Days A Week as well as in Every Little Thing (though in the last song Paul is much more distinguishable). Don't forget that John HATED double tracking his voice, so likely Paul "helped" him, as he did in few other songs before 1965. It was indeed one among my biggest surprises by carefully studying the Fabs sound... I am so sure about it that I can bet 100+ €!
Gale. where are the drums from on this tutorial. ? This is not Ringo playing. The middle eight he plays 1/4 notes on the snare rim and at least plays 3 different rhythms through the song (one latin) Hi-Tom, Snare . In fact it is a difficult drum track that really drives the song and punctuates the amazing harmonies. Just wondering.
I don't buy any of the speculation that there were supposedly a bunch of Beatles songs recorded with some mystery replacement drummer. Ringo was damn good, and in the studio they could work around the limitations of his typical drum setup. Back in the USSR and The Ballad of John and Yoko were the only songs Ringo didn't record since he became a Beatle.
Were a band who are massively influenced by the Beatles, and we mean massive!! Would you mind checking out our channel and imparting some of your wisdom upon us? Thanks The Rascels
Finally got around to this one. I don't think I sustained those "I nearly died" harmonies long enough but the bridge came out nice. Thanks for the continued inspiration! www.reverbnation.com/Beatlemaniam/song/23454463-no-reply
Sounds great as always. Spot on. And you even make it look easy! The only thing I'd do to make it sound more like the record is have a little more McCartney in the mix. But you're so meticulous. Is it just my ear, or does McCartney's higher voice sometimes overpower John's a little in their harmonies?
Steve Jump Maybe be maybe be Steve... Some times is difficult to find the correct balance because in their case it depended on their distance from the mike.
Fantastic. Always loved this song. One small point - the words aren't quite correct. Should be "'cos you walked hand in hand, with another man, in my place".
I like "cos you walked ham in hand, with another man, in my place." Tee Hee!!!! Just kidding Galileo. I love your videos of The Beatles tunes. Very entertaining and informative.
The Beatles Vocal Harmony No need to be sorry. Your work is amazing. I never thought I'd ever come across who has such an incredible talent and who could replicate the Beatles so perfectly.
Hey Galeazzo, are you tracking football ? What do you think about upcoming match between Italy and Croatia ? Italia is not playing really well in the last time, but they have a reputation in football world. Besides, Croatia has many stars like Modric, Kramaric, Mandzukic, Kovacic and Rakitic, they play super in their clubs. So... whats your opinion, have Italia any chances ? ;)
You can't compare Italy and Croatia. Yes Croatia is a tricky team, but Italy have a lot of compactness, technique, ductility, strenght, history and glory. Italy will win, want to bet? ;)
Pizzimontana For your information, Italy have never beaten Croatia. All that history and glory means nothing today. Croatians have respect for Italy, but they'll play like mens, like they always do. We never had a stronger team, and Italy will loose that match.
*is men no mens. Anyway, Italy is better than Croatia, beaten or never beaten, Croatians are very pride, but in football is not just that and Italians are masters of football (and not only)
Pizzimontana Whatever, man. With Niko Kovač, Croatians plays drastically better, and in my opinion they have the best team since 1998 in France. We'll see everything for a couple of weeks ;)

Outstanding! Your range is unbelievable.
Las armonías de Paul siempre fueron muy complejas y demasiado altas!!
My favourite Beatles song
This is a song too difficult to sing and you did perfect voices.
Greetings from México.
Incrível. Only you Frudua, to show us how to sing this dificult and beautifull "No Reply"
Fantástico! !, qué buena voz tienes!, debes disfrutar de " lo lindo"cantando las distintas armonías, realmente te envidio!...sigue así..
Bravo! Bravíssimo! Fantástico!

+Javier Gonzalez Paul had a way better grasp of harmony and music in general. Just pure natural talent. I guess John wrote better lyrics more often.
+John Smith Agree Mr. Smith. McCartney had great ideas to embellish John's songs. I've watched and listened to Lennon and McCartney solos and they lack ingredients that flavored each other. I can barely manage to sing *John's* lines... Paul's ones are tough even in falsetto :-)
puntomaupunto This is a very high part indeed...

John cantaba desabrido..en cambio paul le daba intensidad y extasis...pero supongo que asi era esa magia que le daba exito en cada tema
Excellent as always. The one lyric you sang is not "ham in hand". It's "hand in hand".
Having put in such a good effort, I'd be hungry to. :P

Can you put the lyrics if you can?
エグナシオ Where you mean?
When singing Paul's part are you using pure chest voice or are you mixing in head voice? Please do reply...
+John Smith No reply...
+John Smith It's chest voice.
What he sings??? "'Cause you are coming hand with another"?
The correct isn't: 'Cause you walked hand in hand?
Just a little mistake, even in my own language, I misunderstand lyrics
Fantastic. Always loved this song. One small point - the words aren't quite correct. Should be "'cos you walked hand in hand, with another man, in my place".
