For me , you can't do that is my all-time favorite Beatle song, the harmonies, of George and Paul, the guitar riffs, John's voice and the cow bell. Without question, should have been a A side single and good enough to be a top 5 , even a number one single. A definitive Beatle song.
Dude...I'm a die hard Beatles fan and can play every tune going way back to my band days. I just want to tell you that I enjoy your spot on vocal tracks and am a fan. How are you re-creating the music tracks. Best regards from Bangkok, Thailand.
I just discovered your videos tonight and let me say THANK YOU!! I'm a drummer/background vocalist in a very busy working cover band. A few weeks ago, our guitar player suggested covering this tune and our lead singer (female) didn't want to sing the lyrics as written (if I catch you talking to that boy again) so I was asked to do it. As I said, I'm NOT a lead singer but I agreed to give it a shot. This video really helped me get to the heart of Lennon's vocal style. I'm also going to share it with the band so they can get the harmonies just right. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
@@13mrbill awesome!! that must be so much fun. I played in a band for several years, almost all original music, we did 10% covers or so. but no beatles/eagles etc. and we did have some songs with 5 part harmonies too but the Beatles weren't close to our funk/reggae/ska/rock vibe. I always try to get my kids and woman to sing with me but theyre too shy. soooooooo frustrating. glad its working out for you man. :)
Well, I always love to watch a pro at work. I enjoy your sweet affection for all these songs, but also love to watch and listen as you keep the parts straight in your head! Lovely series, many thanks.
Just when I think there is no way you can blow me away you do it all again. You are like magic to me. Thanks again (I cannot help it) for showing me what I always wanted to understand. You just amaze me.
The Beatles Vocal Harmony Inside my head I am still the 14 year old kid who saw them and although I am not in a physical sense I am in an emotional sense. So yes, you did make my day. I wanted to know how they did it. Now I know.
I've been using your videos for our Ukulele Group called the Long Island Strummers. Your harmonies have been so helpful in making our group singing that much better! I also have made a donation to you as a Thank You for your educational videos!
Amazing lesson Mr. Frudua!! John, definitely had one of the greatest voices of Rock music!! And Paul's and George's harmonies are brilliant !! Thank you for all you great lessons !! :)
I’ve loved this song since I was seven years old (1964), when my older brother (a huge Beatles fan) would play it for me on his turntable. I remember being puzzled at the phrase “Everybody’s green.....”. I really enjoy your taking apart the harmonies, as they’re not always easy to hear, especially George’s part.
The one thing I have found in your dissection of the vocal parts is that Paul's parts are very fluid between the studio recordings and what he may do live. What an incredible ear Paul McCartney has. That may be the underappreciated part of his role in the Beatles.
Hello, may I please request Because I love the vocal harmonies and I would love to see how they do these wonderful harmonies! You're so good with these things, so I know you can do it!
You are inspiring me to learn to sing Galeazzo. I've always just been the guitar player, but wished I could sing also. Now I'm having some lessons, and using your videos to learn how it's done. You are fantastic. John
Just fabulous... Harmonies just perfect after the boys grew up listening and copying The Everly Brothers, years of live performances in Germany and Liverpool and, of course, their own inbuilt genius. I loved your breakdown of "Junk." One of my favourite Paul numbers as well.
I would have loved to jam with you. In my old band in the early 90s we went through the three part vocals over and over to figure out what they sang on each Beatles song we performed. We even took early Rolling Stones songs and did three part harmonies we imagined the Beatles would have done, if they performed the songs.
This is fantastic! I'm primarily a bass player but have ambitions to be a better backing vocalist as well. This video really helps explain what's going on....it won't make me a better vocalist but it will help me hit the right notes! Thanks!
Tienes un exelente voz y me encanta lo que haces Ojalá estuviera subtitulado en español Igualmente me gusta mucho y no me pierdo ningún video como buen fan de los Beatles Gracias!!!
Galeazzo, I love your vids and instruction. My voice is terrible and not one for singing. But your analysis of their harmonies makes it easy for a mere novice to understand the techniques that they used. Thanks for the great word.
With your attention to detail, you must be some luthier, Galeazzo. An artist and artisan in the Italian tradition. If everyone loved art as much as you, there would be less trouble in the world.
Mr. Fruda. I really appreciate your guitar setup videos. Would you be willing to set up a Hofner bass? I have the 61' Custom shop bass and I'm pretty sure I can trust you and no one else to set it up correctly.
My wife, who lived in Italy for eight years, thinks you're dreamy. [That's a good thing] Grammar tip: When there is a choice between two, it's "which you like more" ; among three or greater number, it's "which you like most" ~Cheers
Frudua, you are the technitian that everyone carries in their mind but rarely ever acomplishes in real life. Want to know if you ever met Paul or he knows your work. If I had the power I sure would like for him to visit and jam with you. Thanks for the incredible attention to detail of the Beatles.
Hey Mr. G. F., If I'm ever in your neck of the woods I will certainly look you up... at the Pub... or by the Boats... and we will have a good time raconteuring good old times and letting loose at your nearest live music venue. --Mr. G. H. (Hoffman)
Great lesson Galeazzo! One of these days could you post a harmony tutorial on 1991 MTV Paul McCartney (Unplugged) version of "And I Love Her"? Thats an amazing harmony arrangement. Thanks for all the time you put into your videos.
Hey, Galeazzo, Have you ever considered doing a series of videos about the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)? The greatest band ever, except for the Beatles. Give it some thought. Thanks!
simply a mith !!! just tell me when you are available for singing together, i am still waiting for you to come to Treviso but i can also come to Cento or somewhere else in that area. CIAO !
Yeah and also it not only amazing try it while.playing guitar too believe me that is not a easy song to play only just adds to the genius of yeaa beatles and John lead singing hell on top of that he does a pretty darn guitar solo too on that song
Do you have some method of isolating beatle's vocals on their recordings when figuring this all out? I can figure out many, but am impressed with your locating the small, fringe harmonies and cut ins . Excellent work
You are just great. I got what you are doing in a minute.....you are spot on! What about doing Dr. Roberts? Or Shes a Woman....I Feel Fine.....Help? I would be blown away. What do you think?
I guess you have a lot of fans but it has been my experience since the 1960's doing Beatle's covers with precision has been a "piece of cake." i am a vocalist since my early childhood.
Bravo, Galeazzo! Great work with You can't do that vocals! Thank you! (Didn't you miss George's part in the line "they laugh at my face"? --I think it should go C D D D D)
Jorge Cassis Hi Jorge I confirm the video contains all the parts. The "they laugh IN my face" has got 3 harmonies 1 by John (plus 1 doubletracking) and two by Paul (one is a n overdibbing) :)
Oh, I see. Yhanks! How they did this part alive? I guess that George did something vocally. But anyway, great work! the other day I saw your video about 'I wanna hold your hand? and it´s amazing knowing the vocals they created being so young!
Great video, but I keep missing something. When you first talk about Paul’s vocal “everybody’s greeeeeee-eeeen” you say Paul does a (??) to make it easier. It sounds almost like “glue see doe”, but I can’t really catch it. Could you help?
Your work is fabulous. Can you give me a few tips on how to pick out vocal harmonies myself. Obviously it is a natural talent but do you use any software that helps? Really like your videos!!
OMG - for 20 years I've singing this as "Every body "screams".. cause I'm the one who won your love!." Since you NEVER make a mistake about the Beatles I HAD to go check .. and .. BOOM "Every body's GREEN..." I am so ashamed ..:( . Since I was reading the lyrics anyway I notice how amazingly difficult it had to be to sing "Well, it's the second time I've caught you talking to him Do I have to tell you one more time, I think it's a sin I think I'll let you down (Let you down) Leave you flat (Gonna let you down and leave you flat) Because I've told you before, oh You can't do that What rhyme stanza was this ? Not that John was too preoccupied with rhyme structures , but "You can't do that" REALLY turned classical rhyme stanzas on its ear.
In the part "Told you before" the guitar plays a D7 chord (D, F#, A, C) but John sings a F natural note... I always get lost when I get to that part...
Is your band performing the music or do you have a program that deletes the vocals? If it's you guys, you're spot on! I'd love a video on how to play John's incredible solo.
Hey dude, thanks in particular for this video, I'm hoping to do this song with my band but in general all your vids are awesomely detailed!! Any chance of a break down on I'll Get You from the On Air - Live At The BBC vol. 2?? It's in a different key to the B Side version but I much prefer it. Keep up the great work! :D
Hi Galeazzo. As usual, great lesson, I can hear it's just like like the original :) but one question: where do you get your backing tracks from? Do you take the original vocals away from the original music? If so, how do you do that? I've always wondered how your backing tracks also sounded so great. Thanks.

Awesome G🎶👍
"gonna let you down and leave you flat"... Always liked that line.
I can picture John with a steam roller, revving the engine, and making a face that says, "DONT MAKE ME DO IT."
You explain the Beatles techniques so very well
You have a great voice. And you're a great teacher. I admire you incredibly.

This is my favorite John song from the Early Days....you do it justice. Love it.
It's so awesome, perfect! Thank you for making these videos, it's breathtaking
All these B sides of the 45s had these "GEMS", this and Ask Me Why, There's a Place, etc. Great breakdown of these Harmonies, Ciao! from Canada

David Fernández See everytime someone comments like the the dislikes increase ;) Take a look :)
I've been on a Beatles marathon recording session. This is one that I steered away from but now I think I'll try it. Thanks so much for all your tips!
wonderful when I was a kid in 66 we had no idea . now its great to finally understand the process
This version would be a hit if released now-brilliant mate
@ Andrew Collins didn't mean to sound harsh I simply don't remember maybe at the church a few times in my young years :)
3:50 John's vocals - Verse and refrains - All vocals
4:34 John's vocals

The early Beatles were genius and masterpieces of three-part harmony. They went downhill after Paul was replaced.
