What you say at about 1:40 is the best description ever of the magic that the voices of the Beatles produced when blended together. When I was a youngster listening to them I often thought it was one voice but now realize it was the mix of voices that made the hair stand up on my neck. From the angelic harmonies of Because to Help the Beatles have enriched my life and you my friend have enabled me to enjoy and understand that as never before. I am an elderly and poor man who hopes you find the support you need to continue this education regarding the greatest and most innovative rock group to ever exist. God bless and peace to you.

I earned a music education degree in 1975 (including a few years of vocal study), have been a record producer & engineer since 1977 and sang in a church choir for a decade on the 90s. In all that time, this is one of the most intense, concise, useful vocal lessons I have ever had. Very well done, and a lot of fun. I was smiling inside and out the whole time, and played it 5 or 6 times in a row. I also love the version with you and your bandmate in the coffee bar. Can't wait to hear more of your stuff.

Finsnake : could I ask your opinion at the
risk of being thought a complete idiot .
      ( not for first time ,! )
Was it complete random chance that their
      voices harmonised so perfectly ?
What were the odds that 2 brilliant songwriters with complementary voices
should happen to meet at a church fête
      on a summer's afternoon in 1957 ?
And go on to change the world .
Maybe it was part of a divine plan ?!

First time I have ever heard anyone reproduce the harmonies the Beatles sang. I have listened to these harmonies for decades and they are indeed magic. I often wondered how John and Paul were able to do what they did.. How did they figure out the harmonies..?
Did they have vocalist teach them how to do what they did? Did they come up with these harmonies on their own between the two.?
    Fascinating.

When you study voice and singing, and go on to sing with a great choir or smaller group, one of big things you learn is that you cannot sing a consonant. Hit them on the upbeat as you end a phrase or before going on to the next word. Sing the vowels, and the consonants should be clean and crisp. I was pleased to see this pointed out here. The Beatles had some complicated harmonies, but they really pulled them off well. Paul & John had a real singing relationship.

  • @mickavellian
    @mickavellian 10 лет назад +6

One of the BEST of your tutorials. The simplicity of two voices make it very easy to understand the MAGIC John & Paul share. Chewing the vowels , is now a days the mantra for singing ( Billy Joel claims it is the secret to a hit song) But Paul goes beyond by adding texture to that vowel extension . Ah Gale , it is such a delight having the mysteries uncovered because they stop being mysteries and become MASTERY. Thank you again.
Funny this song's working title was "If I fell on top of you" - That cheeky Lennon, LOVE than man.

I use it to become Geddy Lee, Robert Plant, Ian Gillan, Jon Anderson, Geoff Tate, Ozzy, Rik Emmett, Randy Meisner and more. People tell me all of the time that while I don’t sound exactly like these singers I convey the essence of the singer and the songs honestly and completes. Which is a huge compliment.

My girlfriend and I sing If I Fell together in the car often (the song is loaded into my car's sound system). But we sing it with a twist! I typically sing John's part because it is the most challenging. Meanwhile, my girlfriend can sing extremely high without going into a falsetto, so she sings Paul's part an octave HIGHER than Paul. When she hits the highest notes, she sounds like Alvin from Alvin and the Chipmunks!
Try concentrating on John's part while your partner is singing Paul's part an octave higher! It's tough -- but fun.

I usually sing harms by ear - however, on some songs, such as this one - that just doesn't cut it !
And since I understand that, I know I'm halfway there…
But! I have to say… I love your method of teaching. It takes you from A-to-Z in a very orderly, reasonable and understandable fashion. I think that someone who has never even heard of this song ( poor soul 😬)...could learn it very quickly following your method. Bravo!
I'll be 58 in a few weeks. The Beatles have some of the most beautiful harmonies I've ever heard. I was having unusually hard time at the
"… hurt my pride like her, 'cause I couldn't stand the pain…"
I really can't tell you why! I've done the harmony on this song hundreds of times. It was driving me nuts… So, I thought I would see if I could find someone who was teaching the harmony to this particular song and boom 💥 !
    I found you!
    GrEaT FiNd!!! 💯
To me… as someone that can usually harmonize, and as I said, knows when only the original harmony will do… so, when I found your channel, it was if I paid five dollars for a beautiful print up some swans in the lake… But, when I took it apart to clean it… I found the original Declaration of Independence. I'm not kidding. I sing on Smule all the time. And although not one of the greatest singers you have ever heard, at least I can carry a tune. And it's so much fun!
So, I'm sure you can understand why something is simple as that was driving me absolutely bonkers. Talk about hair standing up… Lol… I was almost pulling mine out! 😉 🙃 🎶
Thank you ~ even though it's been years.
EDIT: Sorry! You said "air"… not, "hair".

Love it, you totally get the vocals. My mum saw the Beatles live twice in Plymouth uk. I asked her a few times what did she remember, just the noise of her friends screaming, that’s it.

Really appreciate this tutorial .... "IF I Fell" is definitely one of the Beatle's best harmonies , very beautiful , and I think one of the best my ears have ever had the pleasure of hearing ...... I am just an amateur , but I take a wee bit of pride in being able to sing some Beatles fairly well , but I have never been able to get that one down , not even close ...... That's a tough one .... Great job , sounds beautiful as it should

      The Beatles Vocal Harmony
I'm glad i found your page , it's great , and you do a great job .... I can tell you are European , Italian ??? Spanish ??? My mother was born in Bolzano Italy , and my uncle was an opera singer in Vienna , Adolf Dallapozza ..... I made a video memorial to my mother on my page with two of her recordings as background (she passed away) .... check it out if you get a chance , my mom was a great singer , I think you like the music ...... video can get a bit sad towards the end as it is a memorial to her in life and a few pics of her after she died ..... "Josephine Dallapozza Memorial" ..... My mom sang for the Dallas Opera long ago ...... wish I had stuck with music , but I am just an amateur ..... anyway , thank you for some really good vocals and coaching , you do a great job on all of them ...... wish you well , and hope you have success

The Beatles Vocal Harmony Thanks , yes mom had a beautiful voice , the best I've ever heard (and of course I am somewhat biased) ..... she liked to sing "Penny Lane" with me sometimes when we were just goofing around on piano , but her "style" was mainly operatic or hymnal , she was a bit "out of her element" with the Rock Genre ..... Thank you for taking time to listen , and I will share your page on my Facebook Page too ...... You are working hard and I hope you get many subscriptions , you are quite phenomenal in your own right ...... You are loaded with Talent and Skills , and a very good voice ...... One of my best musical subscription choices on youtube ...... Really interesting to see how you separate and combine the elements of songs so well ....... The first songs I ever learned was at apprx 7 years old , singing along to my sister's 45rpm records - "I Saw Her Standing There" , "Twist and Shout" , "She Loves You" , and "Love Me Do" .... been hooked on the Beatles music ever since ...... and PS - I never believed "Paul was dead" ..... lol

When done live you can't double Paul's voice so John also sings high "I must be
sure . . ." then back down to the low part. Great videos. You are very good.

Good sir, I'm also a musician/singer... I really appreciate your articulation of how to sing a Beatles vocal - especially for this song.. in fact, I would say that this is a good "beginner" song for anyone learning how to sing the Beatles... great work! you've also got the true tenor voice to really make a song like this ring...

After following your videos for two years, I realized thay you're our honorary fifth Beatle. You make learning
the harmonies more approachable, thanks to your heartwarming introductions to the video and afterwards the harmony part itself :)
As far as I've observed you seem to be the nicest and one of the gifted music intructors on RUclips.
I know that I've been writing the same thing since last year but I can't help writing that. You have amazingly inspired me, Mr Frudua. I can differ the harmonies in the songs and I am trying to imitate the harmonies thanks to you.
P.S. a Helter Skelter cover and full version of Maybe I'm Amazed would be good from you.
everytime I watch these videos I have goosebumps :)

Well I'm here 8 years later and i like it.
But as I'm unfortunately late to the harmony party in many ways, I'd like to see the notes so as to follow a piano with John's part.
I shall watch more of your videos now.
    This was my first.
    And i fell. Lol
I fell for singing harmonies. Hope i can follow

I've heard somebody describing dogs' sense of smell this way, we humans, we smell the whole spaghetti, dogs smell every ingredient of the sauce. You hear every variation of their singing, me, I only hear the overall product. I still enjoy their singing, but you open a new world to me.
