  • Strap yourself in for a race through the field from position 35 all the way to 6th.
Riding with Doug Barbour in his extremely well prepared and well driven 1976 Porsche 911 3.0 #911.
Doug start in Group S about 10 years ago with a relatively stock Porsche 911 3.0. Over the coming years, he developed the car and himself to be a front runner, constantly in the top 5, and often winning outright.
Doug's car is no lightweight, which you can see given he runs a cool suit, blower, electric windows, and other heavy items, but that doesn't stop it being one of the fastest 911's on the grid.

Always instructive to see where and how time is made and lost.

That's a hell of a speed wobble after 230 kph not usually a feature of 911s. I guess that explains why you would hit the brakes before the chase

Not sure if it is speed wobble, but with little (or no) aero on old cars, at that speed they do move around a fair bit.

I suspect it's the digital camera that with strong vibrations give the recording a bit of a floating effect, hence the unstable look of the car at high speeds. If the car was actually acting like that, I would have packed up and gone home.

Hey, thank you for the nice onboard ! So double clutch while downshifting, but I'm not sure about heel and toe ?

That is a beautifully smooth and responsive Porsche engine. Though the downshift has me a little confused. Are the brakes that good?

Just wait until 2035 when this will be an all electric milk float race, with EVs having to stop every hour to recharge and 45 minutes to do it.
