Matt Chapman and Nolan Arenado are the two best defensive third basemen in the game today. I had the privilege of watching Chapman, Matt Olson, Chad Pinder, Max Muncy, Joey Wendle, and Renato Nunez all on the same Nashville team in 2016.
It's going to suck because he is eventually going to want to get paid. And since the A's are a low market team it's going to be interesting when that time comes.
Chapman attributes much of his arm strength to throwing lots of long toss in winter ball. You may notice he plays especially deep - near the outfield grass -
Maybe for a few innings or a couple of games but Semien has been the A's SS since Chap has been in the league and Sem doesn't take days off. But as much as the A's shift, Chap is often slotted in that hole.
Humans aren't able to throw baseballs with true rising action. The speed and back spin combination necessary to counteract the Magnus Effect do not seem to be within the bounds of human mechanical abilities

YES! Matt Chapman is a gold glove caliber player. Great defense in the hot corner...Quick on the draw with that gun of an arm.
Platinum glove caliber player*
Never actually saw this guy play before. But holy chap. This guys reaction time and arm strength are absolutely insane
Holy chap 😄
Chapman America I love that......
Haha Olsen blowing a bubble with that play, good stuff boys!!
Olson*
So great they traded him for peanuts 🥜
I miss this A's team so much. It just isn't the same.
That’s what happens when you have an owner that will ship out any over performer
The best thing about Chapman is that all his throws are right on the money
The best in baseball
I love GOAT videos; must be why RUclips gave me this one today.
Im your biggest fan!

The way he affects so many games he plays by his fielding is just so amazing!!!!!!!
Not watching this to remember the good old days…
I'm impressed by his throwing accuracy. Unreal... Not so much the glove but the throw in positions he threw the ball in
Why does anyone even try bunting to 3rd with Chapman fielding
Wirey black looking like he just got a tv? I say roll the dice
This man is a beast
Am I the only one that wants to call him Matt champion
Chapman did Chapman... Holy...
3:33 what a heads-up play!! He knew that runner was gonna round the bag.. impressive

2023 baby
@Y Marina they better.
2023 He will start for *LA DODGERS* opening day and will successfully replace the great Justin Turner.
@@recluse5122 average justin turner
Yeah. I love the A’s but i dont think theyll be able to hold onto Chapman
I love Chaptain America! His play style gelled so well with Olson. #selltheteam
Miss him so much...... 😔✊
Miss how?
@@themanthemyththelegendmom6045 I don’t remember why I said this comment sorry man I’m confused by it to now lol
Machado is better
@@depressedasfan9452 i think he was injured then
Woohoo Chappy for All Star game 2020
Total stud
did he pitch when he was younger? his arm is not only extremely strong but accurate
Thinking the same thing. He has a cannon for an arm. I would bet it is a combination of genetics, hard work, and talent.
Chapman attributes much of his arm strength to throwing lots of long toss in winter ball. You may notice he plays especially deep - near the outfield grass -
Almost everyone pitched when they were young
he played short
Hitting: Arenado
Fielding: Chapman:
Arm: Tie.
Mateo Rowzee Arenado is a better fielder and hitter btw
@@Jay-mc3bg im a rockies fan, so i see nolan alot more than chapman, but when i do see chapman, hes amazing.
Abby From Wii Sports arenado and chapman were teammates in HS though
Abby From Wii Sports Chapmans fielding is better but his batting is only slightly worse
Abby From Wii Sports no he isn’t
He has the best arm in mlb on the field other than pitchers
Jesus loves you all and he is always with you. God bless and have a wonderful day 🙏🏻
I go to the Oakland staidium to see him play who else?
And now in 2022 he and almost every other player in this video is gone from the A’s. Sad…
If you can see they are at a baseball game
lol Sean Manaea’s reaction
Had ever he played as SS in mlb? I want to watch him playing SS.
Maybe for a few innings or a couple of games but Semien has been the A's SS since Chap has been in the league and Sem doesn't take days off. But as much as the A's shift, Chap is often slotted in that hole.
he played 6 games at short last year but there’s no film of the games
0:40 the ball rose what the frick
wow
no bc u know he has a rocket for an arm when oly doesnt even need to stretch for half thess
Who's in first what's on second matt chapman on third
Something tells me playing catch with Chapman could suck. Dudes hurling 80 mph lasers 80’ without any arch
Dee Gordon was safe on that bunt play, but it was still a nice throw
0:42 was really Olsen saving his ass after that throw. Great snag, though.
Pujols might have 4000 hits by now if Chapman wasn’t at the hot corner.
haha
Jonty Rhodes: *hold my glove...oh wait*
arenado>>>>>>>>>>
He’s the new Donaldson
Yup
Traded to Toronto, go figure
The first guy said josh Donaldson
he was referencing when donaldson used to be on the A’s and making tarp catches like that. Listen to the context.
Is it just me or did one of his throws rise?
Looks like he released it early. That's why it sailed a bit

Not sure with his weak bat
The next great Yankee
Oh yeah?
Is it weird that Matt Chapman has the same glove as me
Michael McCabe no u have the same glove as Chapman
to bad blue jays are letting him get away blue jays are the losers poor blue jays pitchers era are going up big time way to go blue jays managers
Nolan Arenado DOES NOT make plays this good. stop this delusion people
