Thank you so very much. Now I know how to get my quilts squared up. I was always out no matter how hard I tried. I didn't know how to fix it as I am new to quilting. I thoroughly enjoy all your videos and am learning so much. Really, really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us.
Who would have thought to simply fold the tape measure in half to get the correct measurement instead of fumbling for a calculator. Genus because I never thought of that and I needed to know this just the other day. Thank you
I would very much like a video on adding sashing, sashing with cornerstones to block style quilts. I frequently decide after I have made the blocks that they need something but I never can quite figure out the order and how to make it work
Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by "what seam guide do you use"? Do you mean when I am stitching the diagonal seam for making the borders longer? For that I am sewing on the line on the diagonal. If you mean for the length 1/4" seams I use the "Guildlines for Quilting" seam guide that sticks to the edge is the foot on the base of the machine and move my needle to the right for the 1/4" seam. On my Pfaff I am using the "normal" foot - I think that's the A? Please let's us know if this helps
Hello Beverly, Yes, if you have one it will be helpful. One issue is that it is generally a wider foot so you might want to adjust accordingly :) Nancy
Hi Missy, I'm so glad your enjoying the shows. I am using a Pfaff Expression 5.0. I love this machine. I have owned 3 Pfaff machine over the last 28 years, I love them all
Thanks so much for this video. I'm new to quilting and this is my 2nd quilt but is my 1st with borders and cornerstones. By the time I discovered your video, I had already attached the 2 shorter borders. Rather than taking apart and attaching the cornerstones to the 2 shorter sides, I attached the cornerstones to the longer sides. Are you supposed to cut the 2 borders that will be stitched with the cornerstones a quarter inch longer to allow for seam allowance when you attach the cornerstone? Thanks so much for all the info you provided!!
Every border lesson I see talks about the sides not being the same length. Then the person demonstrates on a perfect square. How can I learn how to ease in 2" when you demo on a perfect square? How about actually showing us how to ease in the extra length ?
Hi Jeannie - when I saw your question I thought I taught how to do a border that is not on a square quilt during the "Learning to Quilt" series, but I didn't - you are correct. So, I will add this to our next recording session as an "Ask Nancy" segment - I will show you how to measure and put on a border that is on a quilt that is not square. Keep watching and sharing !! :)
I look forward each week to your videos. I have learned so much from you and love your personality.
Thank you so much!

So glad you found us then.
Do you have a website to purchase that gauge?
Check with any of your local sewing/quilt shops. I'm sure they'll be happy to provide you with any tools & supplies that you need.
Thank you

Do you use a walking foot for long borders so everything comes out even?
