- Quick little video of my main project, The Paxtonmobile ( / thepaxtonmobile )
It's a replica of the Dodge Ram from the movie Twister. The movie used several 1995 Dodge Ram's, whereas mine is a 1996, but it's all correct, except I have yet to install the sliding rear window, and the cab lights are aftermarket.
My truck is a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 V10 4x4 SLT.
Dorothy V was made using measurements used from the screen-used Dorothy I, and a spare Dorothy on display at the National Weather Institute. It's not 100% accurate, but that isn't what I was going for.
I think Bill Paxton would've been proud...
Yeah
wait he died?
@@Tornado_intercepting_vehicles1 Dude, you're seven years late on that.
@@McFrozenNuggets i mean im sorry??!? damn..
It's incredible how the 1994-2001 ram body style still holds up!
had a white 2001 Dodge Ram Regular pick up. they are strong, didn't had Any problems with that truck. I drive a Dakota now hope later on I'll get another RAM again.
With the exception of the interior, yes.
You have no idea how much this made me smile.
"Dorthy, you took her you damn thief!"
Unrealized I did, Unrealized
Unrealized idea
"You slime! I ain't finished with you, yet!"
@@LITTLE1994 the suck zone!
@@LITTLE1994 😆 🤣 😂 come heree
totaly me not making a repica
The RAM from Twister is the exact reason I love RAMs. This is amazing.
How did you got the siren of Dorothy by the way Bill Paxton Is proud of you.
English please
I think they mean ‘how on earth were you able to get the exact siren for Dorothy?!, I think Bill Paxton would be proud of you’ 😁
Keaton Schooley really nothing was so unclear about his/her question that you couldn’t figure out what was meant......
Pretty sure it's just an old standard aftermarket car alarm recording.
After seeing Twister for the first time when I was like 8 I have aspired to own a 2nd gen Ram, albeit with the Cummins diesel. I must admit when I saw the movie the first time, I cried when it went up into the tornado and was destroyed
My mom and dad took me to see this movie the first day of summer after my 4th grade year. Two weeks later, my father purchased a brand new one that was identical to the one in Twister. I remember family and friends joking about going storm chasing in it every time a thunderstorm popped up that year. It was a great truck!
Paul Leonardi your lucky man. I’m only 14 but I grew up on this movie. I’m going to get a ram when I’m in high school and gonna learn to build a dorthy
I drive an old bullnose ford because of Rabbit, looking to add a camper🙌🏻
Yeah, I hate it too when Jo and Bill sacrificed this Ram into the F5 tornado.
now you just need Jo's 82 Jeep Gladiator.....
Where’s my truck?
Falls out of the sky scaring Melissa
Yup.
"I like my truck. I LOVE my truck."
Considering how simple and low budget this is to make compared to more complex movie vehicles like the BTTF DeLorean or KITT, I am amazed it took so long for someone to make a replica.
Dude you so need to show up in kansas when all the storm chasers are waiting for the storms to blow up. It would be hilarious!
Or Oklahoma
Yaaas
I love the siren on Dorothy
Who doesn't? It is just so iconic!
"I think we're going in!"
Chris Gentry that’s what she said 😎
DOROTHY.....You took her you damn thief!
He's got Dorothy, but he's still got no instinct.
If you drive this straight into a tornado the fuckin Dominator will pull over and let you by.
Bill Paxton is looking down going wow that's awesome
This is so awesome. Favorite movie as a child. Always wanted to do this
only one flaw the back glass had a slide door this didn't but great truck
Thank you
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed
Still very faithful.
That was the disclaimer that the guy needed to upgrade the back window to a sliding "cap flat" style window
I am so jealous of this! Of the entire thing! As a storm chaser myself , this would be damn awesome to have as a replica!
Car alarm ?? nah it just Dorthy having a existential crisis :P
Twister Was My Favorite Natural Disaster Movie
Still have my 95 red and silver club cab identical ram (no roof lights), 29 years old, and I chase local storms...nws spotter, but had the truck before the great movie. Movie truck was red on the bottom, mine is sliver like the video. Well, silver and rust...lol.
Thank you for making my childhood come true
I just adore that there IS a Dorothy V! This is now a thing! (I know in the movie there were four, but still!)
2024 edit: DOROTHY V IS NOW CANON THANKS TO *_TWISTERS_* CONFIRMING IT!!!
Found a 2nd gen ram 2500 yesterday in great shape for $800. Gonna do this build!
Did you ever end up doing it?
@@sgtpepper1138 i ended up selling it and getting a 2003 silverado ss instead...might reconsider the project some other time
@@spark4039bummer, I plan on doing a "Barn Burner" bus in the near future.
@@sgtpepper1138 that would be awesome! The bus doesn't look overly modded. Just a few tvs and radio equipment in the interior
DUDE!!!!! OMG I wanted this truck so badly when I was younger after watching twister
I still want a 2nd gen Ram after seeing the movie when I was younger
@@1spunkymonkey2 but then you realize they run like crap
They do not. They are work trucks and they are also going on 30 years old now. Nobody treats them like a museum piece. Mostly everyone today has no concept that a car needs to be maintained on a weekly basis.
@@landbefortime6898 2nd gen rams easily one if not the best generation of rams, the only major issue with them is the body rust easily, got 211,000 miles on my 2001 and it still runs buttery smooth
I don't have the truck but I do have the welding but a blue Ford so I'm making a newer version its a Ford f150 from 2014
This just made me smile, gonna make a replica soon, is there a few suggestions for how to make the Dorothy, I know this is one that they used in the movie but is there a way to make the Dorothy to where it's similar to that? Please let me know!
If you look up either my fb page, The Paxtonmobile, or my fb group, Twister the Movie:Behind the Scenes replicas and more, I got the info in there as well.
There's a ton of custom fabrication and ultra rare parts if you're going for accuracy, if not there's a lot of stuff you can use that will pass. Very few people will know what specifically goes into a Dorothy.
I'll be debuting my new Dorothy alongside my new Ram sometime soon!
Plot twist, Dorothy was Bil Paxton's actual car alarm.
this movie was the reason dodge slt laramies were the most popular truck of the early 2,000s
The “paxtonmobile” had a medium driftwood interior. This one appears to be medium quartz.
I believe my next Ram has the right interior - might even go as far as to make it the right color.
DEBRIS!!!!
I remember the movie and that truck.
1995 Dodge Ram 2500 Club Cab SLT was the one used. Twister filmed in 1995.
Yep. They used several models, all 4x4. Mine's a 1996. Hence the title.
Grade A War Criminal Dingus eh close enough. They all look the same anyway
If you watch the movie closely many times it’s a 1500. The movie looks to have used the V10 as the hero truck. The 1500 as the stunt truck. I was working at Ontario Dodge in California. The Chrysler parts depot was around the block from us. One of the workers bought a 95 1500 from an auction. The truck had transmission issues. I got it on the lift and inspected the truck. There were all these brackets on the truck on the sides, rear and front of the truck. I also noticed it had the all the driveshafts replaced. The transmission had already been out of the truck for repairs. We all suspect the truck was a camera truck from the movie or a stunt truck as because of all the brackets and the repairs.
All the trucks were crushed after filming due to Dodge's insurance liability clause - that's straight from the movie crew that I've talked to. They did use a few 1500's, but 2500's were also used - including one that was badged 3500, which was a prototype truck Dodge gave the production. There was a Cummins used as well, but they changed out the engine after it was found to be too loud.
@@FreedomGundamX10A Excellent info! As a fellow HUGE fan of this movie (moreso a long dodge ram commerical in my eyes), I've always wanted to get to the bottom of how/why the one truck had a 3500 emblem given that it was a SRW truck. Not sure if you can clarify but I do feel that the introductory scenes of the movie where the dodge ram had the camper shell on it was in fact the prototype you speak of and it had the V10. During some of the later scenes you can tell that a V8 was used. (The tach on V8's redline at 5000, while V10's redlined at 4500.) One could also hear the difference... V10's carry a unique sound. Some of the trucks sat differently throughout the movie too, some were noticeably taller (these probably had the v10's and the one that was originally a Cummins) Anyhow, I love your project! I'm still looking for a good candidate truck to build my paxtonmobile. Hopefully they do a good job with the new "Twisters" movie that they're filming right now.
I spy an original V10 Ram.... I like what I see.🌪️Made me smile today seeing this after nearly 28 years that film came out. Legendary truck.
~ Actual storm chaser / NWS trained spotter.
THIS IS AMAZING I NEED TO SEE THIS WITH MY OWN EYES
I want a replica
Does Dorothy come standard in all trim levels?
Back in 2019 November i saw this
truck after leaving the dmv place it
had Dorothy on the back ahh man i will never forget that day love from Kansas City
Shut up and take my money
I just borrowed the expanded score by Mark Mancina who did the music for the movie and I so WISH I had this to blow my music in!!! I can’t stop listening to it.
I tell tell you what's selling big that everyone is selling their old dodge's and big new HDs for is .... Honda Ridgeline ....their sale's are climbing fast ....yes it's the Joe Biden Honda Ridgeline edition democratic party truck of the year ...👀
I'm trying to find the correct type GMC short bus, so I can make a Barn Burner replica.
I have a question why was the truck in the film badged as a 3500 instead of a 2500
Like what Peter said in that one episode of family, Guy The Duke boys would be proud more like Bill Paxton would be proud
Have you been to the Twister movie museum lately. If you have look at the display case in the museum and you will see a lego Dodge Ram with Dorothy and a figure of Bill Paxton. And guess what, I BUILT THAT!!!
Sweet!!!!
Looks like they're gonna intercept
Just imagine Hearing that When there’s a storm 🫡 Rip bill paxton
“Dorthy wails”
Jo: She’s up
Bill: okayyy
You need a sliding back glass
What happened to the other one antennas the middle? Should it be two antennas not one?
should actually be 3! cell phone antenna, cb radio, and scanner!
Hey if you still have this I’d be very interested in buying it. Let me know
HOW COME NO ONE NOTICES THE LICENSE PLATE IS MEANT TO BE PAXTON!?!
Yo! I saw you riding west on 70hwy yesterday! hahaha made my week!
Sweet 👌🏻 favorite movie when I was 6 lol
Dorothy II and III ready, Dorothy IV ready.
"Liability Only" 😁😂🤣. 🤘 Nice rig btw! 🤘
Ah see the real question, is it a real V10 or just badged up
Wait what about Jonas' tru....ehhhh nevermind
Truck should have goodyear wrangler tires with raised white letters faceout. Plus you don't have a sliding back window. How you gonna arm Dorothy?
I don't even own this truck anymore lol. Trust me, I know everything that's wrong with it. My new current Ram build is more accurate. They don't make the tires anymore, and my current truck has a gray interior instead of the driftwood it should be. Plus it's a 95 like the film trucks
How do I get myself that car
Everyone would be wishing if Bill Paxton is still alive today they would be glad to have his signature on that Rams dashboard
Until the dashboard breaks
“you got full coverage on that truck?”
You got full coverage on that truck?
Even better than Aunt Meg's gravy.
Yoooooo that's so fucking cool
That siren sound I swear I heard on toy light and sound police cars back in the 90s'.
I am going to get a truck just like that
Dorothy rides again
I really envy and admire your Dorothy. If I get a pickup I want to do exactly that!
Wish i could buy that truck
Jonas, son of a bitch!
Too bad it never had a Cummins
695- Riders ehh the 12 Valves back in the day didn't have the speed lol
Now, I can understand why you sold it, but still, that must've hurt
No video dislikes, this is saying something
Great Job!
Dude!! Very nice!! How cool is this!! Awsome that people do this things!
You should build another Dorothy so people think it’s really going down!
Time to test against ultimate twister.... Sharknado!
My inner child is smiling 😊 dang the 90s where the best memory lane
Oustanding job sir! Do you turn heads when driving it?
That sounds like think it is Dorothy Wireless sonar sensors to put it on a tornado
Love it
Awesome
HES MISSOURIAN WHERE IS THIS TRUCK, I LIVE IN MISSOURI
I'm in Kansas City, unfortunately I sold the truck and Dorothy last year... but I'm about to hopefully close the deal on what will become The Paxtonmobile II.
@@FreedomGundamX10A nice dude, it's my favorite movie of all time, I would love to see it
But the truck was a 95 doe.. nice mod tho
im making a dream come true i learned welding 4 years ago and got a addicton of twister and so i have started bulding dorothy xxiv for 2024 but the truck is a rusty 2014 blue f150 ford i have but will work the drum for dorthy is not perfect its a 55 gal drum wich is kinda close
that truck is so cool man!!!!!!!!!!
Would love to see that someday!
This is FREAKING AWESOME!!
I hope that someday i have a neighbor like you
How’d u get the sound of the siren for Dorothy
😏 I think you did awesome 👏🏻
Dude that is sick
I nearly got one same year, same body style and club cab for 1500 but white. Had a V10 with 190k miles and no rust. I'm beyond salty I let it get away. Shortly after I found one identical to yours with a 5.9 & minor rust for 1500, but it sold the day I looked at it. The search continues...
Meu sonho e ter uma igual essa.
I love that alarm
It's beautiful 😍😍😍😍
What a memory!
I own a 2nd gen cuz of this movie lmao only its green
Close enough lol
Update on this truck?
