    That's pretty cool that Sam Elliott was reading this considering he played Basil Plumley in We Were Soldiers and then had the real one and Hal Moore sprinkling the soil from Ia Drang.

    I recently saw a saying that may be old, or new. No idea who officially said it, but I liked it.
    "98% of Americans will wake up and enjoy Freedom,
    2% will wake up and Defend it."
    Proud to be a former member of the 2%!

    Being a U.S Infantryman from 2012 to 2015, I have never felt more proud to be part of something bigger than my own self. In a words of a veteran from Enduring Freedom I met in the ABQ VA:
    "It is not our job to please the nation, It is our job to defend her."

    The Infantry Museum is a national treasure. So is Sam Elliott... his honor for our nation and the common soldier are audible. I doubt that he would be presenting at this ceremony if General Moore and CSM Plumley did not have considerable personal respect for him.
    Two of the finest combat leaders our military had ever known. They now belong to the ages.
    I will never forget the million pushups I did at Ft Benning during Basic, AIT and Airborne School. I will also never forget our drill sergeant, SSG Walter Hayes.
    May God bless those currently serving at this time.

    • @bamacopeland4372
      @bamacopeland4372 День назад

      @@zeck8541 because it's two different branches of the nations military One being Army the other being Marines. Each job is the same but performed by different branches and also are not trained together. Each one has its own national museum. Because the United States United States infantry is its own entity, United States Marine Corp. Is it's own entity. Both national equal but different.

    • @onesgt01
      @onesgt01 4 года назад +2

      Do you even know what a "Weekend Warrior" does? Vietnam there was very few Reserves Unit called up, with the "all-volunteer"" military, Reserves and National Guard units have been called up multiple times. On those weekends they drill, they practice their MOS skills, when they are deployed they are leaning as much as they can within their MOS. This knowledge is brought back and use to educate those that have not deployed. If he served, which he did, then served. He has the requirements to be a veteran and in turn, he is one of my brothers. The next time you run into a Guard or reservist so a little respect, they've earned it.
