We have been working with Ron on his CJ-8 Scrambler for years. This Jeep has it all! Not only that, he has it out on the trails just about every weekend! At 76 years old, Ron is not afraid to hit the Rubicon or Fordyce and show the kids how it’s done! This Jeep is a full sleeper!
The front axle is a Chevy Dana 60 that WFO narrowed 4.5” on the long side, to reach 65” wide. It has Chromoly axles, 35 spline shafts, and an ARB locker. The rear axle is a cab and chassis 14 bolt at 63.5” wide with an ARB locker as well. The jeep has a Gen 3, 5.3 LS engine, mated to an NV4500 5 speed, Klune-V underdrive, and a Dana 300 transfer case with twin sticks and 4:1 gears. The crawl ratios available are 362:1, 133:1, and 90:1 in granny low! It sits on 1.5” Rubicon Express Spring over Wrangler springs with a WFO Shackle reversal, WFO frame plates and shock towers, and a WFO rear torque arm. It has WFO Kingpin Double high-steer arms, PSC Hydro assist steering, Hydroboost brakes, York on-board air compressor and an ARB air compressor, WFO built full roll cage with built in stereo console, frame tie-ins, and WFO speaker cans. Ron runs 37” Good Year MTR’s on Raceline beadlock wheels. With the full skid pate and belly pan and 1350 driveines, this Jeep is a beast! Don’t let the faded paint fool you!

I’d take this CJ-8 over any fugly new Jeep, this thing is perfect! And it ain’t sitting in the garage 98% of the time

Back in’85 (10th grade)when I got my 1st CJ-5 , my neighbor had a CJ -8. I thought 💭 what a putz… I got smarter w/ age👍🏾
My dream is to some day have WFO install a LS in my first gen Tacoma, some people dream of winning the Lottery, I dream of “ More Power!!! “

Wow. I want to do this same build for what I have in mind. Only I want a diesel engine. I get lots of crap about that. To I say suck rocks. Use the gearing that he has in that combined with the torque from the diesel and you have a 🏆.
This keep is awesome. What’s the gas mileage like on it?
Maybe missed it -- what is HP?
He didn't say but a stock Tahoe 5.3 is right around 300hp.
