Hell yeah, you got the clip of me screaming with no voice at Up^^Beat That event was insane, it feels crazy to actually be part of rhythm game history like that, even to accidentally end up in a rhythm game piece Great video, this is the stuff that inspires people!
While I imagine you're not the only one, you're at least the only one I've personally seen to take a song off of Mini in a tournament with that 1 S-crit edge over him on Fiat Lux XCD. Hell of a feat with how untouchable he seems.
Sick video! Would also like to add 2 potential maimai rankers: - YOSHI*KG, the most winningest KOP player of all time with 4 wins (2020, 3rd, 4th, 5th) - ReMiRiA, the first player to AP+ every single chart in maimai, and the first to AP+ the most recent 15 (系ぎて Re:MASTER) Still very informative for the casual rhythm game player base and I hope to see more spotlight on these kinds of players too!
Thank you for this! I have a lot of friends in the speedrunning community and it's hard to really fully explain just how ridiculously far beyond some of the top rankers in rhythm games are. Happy to show this to them to help explain it in more detail. Also, as the guy who spent more time than I would have liked looking into the matter of scores on ITG officials, thanks for saying that Chris is the first and only person to quad all ITG singles officials. On a side note, there are a few people working on doing the same for the doubles charts - if you need more players to look over for future videos, check out Box and Aoreo if you want to touch on ITG doubles. Rynker is another one in that department, though he's not really touching officials.
a friend mentioned me by surprise that i appeared on the trailer for this video, ty for including me, you would be surprised on how much people is grinding iidx here
nice to see dimo and bran mentioned, i know ITG isn't the biggest community but we've got some insane players in here. shoutout to chunka for winning our yearly tech season (ITL) twice in a row too.
Loved watching every single second of this; always puts into perspective just how much you have to work for it if you want to be the one at the very top of your craft.
amazing video!! would like to add though, SILENT 0721's Verflucht EXHC is DBM (Double Battle Mirror), which means it's the SP Leggendaria chart played on both sides, with one side mirrored. EXHC on the DPL is still insane, but this is simply on another level would also have loved to see maimai covered here, with players such as remiria and yoshiki mentioned, with remiria having an insane MAX-2 on ViRTUS MAS 14+ and yoshiki having won every single KOP tournament for maimai. although i understand that maimai has a much smaller presence in the US versus chunithm and bemani games
This video gives me an idea on whether you can make a documentary about players who manage to beat the curse of getting older/age and still remain super competitive against the younger generation in their respective rhythm games? Like one of the most prominent examples of this in e-sports is the case of f0rest in CS, who became a literal boomer yet still gave the new generation a run for their money also i'm kinda shocked to see you not mentioning jakads who is another absolutely legendary jack of all trades player, and remilia who is an icon of djmax respect
This has always been one of the video topics on my list, and you beat me to it (again) lol. Fine, I guess I can do the Gods of [Freestyle] dance games.
Thanks for bringing this topic into light! It is cool to see all that everyone does especially in the lens for people new to rhythm games or curious about the subject
Great video! I don't think it is possible to cover ALL rankers out there but I was glad with all the ones you had in the video and happy to know more about KKM.
funny enough I mentioned CHRS4LIFE to my wife when the stuff about the KAC controversy came up, only to have him be the next spotlight! definitely one of the best DDR players I know of. also seen a lot of DOLCE's clears he's quite the beast for sure. didn't know about KKM but he definitely sounds up-and-coming in the IIDX scene, that's for sure.
Hopefully there will be a 2nd part, GCM has been gaining steady ground with popularity and there are many great players. Aside from that, amazing video!
Thank you for making this video! I've been out of the competitive scene aside from the last Dahn Dahn Right (Pittsburgh DDR tournament) for a while, and now I just wanna grind DDR at my local R1 for hours thanks to this callout on what's possible
If you do a part 2 to this, you should look into jubeat ranking CORBY.QS is the undisputed best player right now, and his achievements are stacked First to EXCELLENT 1116 EXT (the first 10.9 (max difficulty) ) Having 2? KAC wins Being the first to GOLD Jubility (about as hard as imperial 3 in sdvx terms) And being first to perfect a ton of songs since jubeat came out
Maybe one of the remarkable feats that KKM showed outside of IIDX would be holding 21.000 exact volforce in SDVX. What makes this a deal is that this feat is done without any adequate affinity or experience in knob techniques. Virtually, this is the living proof of the Maximum volforce achievable with the finest button skills alone. Search upon what songs consist his Best 50s and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Missed opportunity to add Yisuszzz as one of the rhythm game gods that played during 6 months with a JKoC and managed to be KAIDEN on Epolis on a shitty PS2 controller with a USB amazon adapter.
Odd not to mention chris's skill in SDVX having a PUC on Erm*(and a couple other 20's) but mentioning Fefemz having an S on Lachryma. Great video regardless though!
@@Rock_dude32 Yeah it's really hard to convey just how crazy that is without going pretty in-depth into SDVX's mechanics. That's only possible in a chart with only chip notes and no hold or knob notes, which narrows it down to exactly two charts. And those two charts are the hardest button-oriented charts in the game in terms of scoring!
I love how accurate you present the information in your scripts, except for the ending where you miss presented silent’s d-battle verflucht leggendaria ex-hard as doubles. Should have stated that it was to play two of the same single charts at the same time, meaning that both hands one-handed the single leggendaria chart with a exhard clear. Other than that I find it’s kind of a pity that none of the background tracks come from rhythm games
Not mentioning jakads is insane. Literally the greatest rhythm game player to have ever existed so far. He's become top 2 at chunithm and top 2 at sdvx, while previously being the #1 osumania player until he retired, and also arguably was #1 (top 2) on bms No one on this list compares to him
The lack of PC rhythm gaming in this in general saddens me. Not everyone has arcades nearby and can afford to play there, or can afford to buy their own cab. While PC is a vastly different experience than playing on a cab, the insanity of high level community made charts kind of makes up for that in my mind. Top difficulty community made charts typically make top difficulty official charts look like the tutorial, and PC rhythm gaming is mostly where you see that (yes, you've got custom pad charts for itg etc. too, not going to deny those).
Amazing video dude, even myself who doesnt even keep up with arcade rg scene other than sdvx i still recognise all the names here, just goes to show how dominant these players are. Hope to see a part 2 or something and maybe dabbling outside of arcade rgs, nevertheless this is such a great video ❤
Since you're mention GITADORA (Drummania), why not mention Guitar Freaks too ? I mean that game is challenging too. you could check Two time KAC winner like ぎるたん, MISTER.Q 9 KAC with the only Saiph - Yvya EXC score, or もりおくん player with 3 finger achieve 9700 rank
Surprised Cookiezi/mrekk of osu didnt get a mention lol let alone the man JAKADS who held #1 in osumania for 5 years, is 2nd in SDVX, and still is best Chunithm player i think? but yeah, hard to cover EVERY SINGLE ranker ever lol, still a great video!
Description has the channels from the intro, and all the rest of the footage is either Konami or from that players' channel! But I will edit credit directly on the video in future, people seem to prefer it that way

there's been some controversy around the quad, as it wasn't confirmed that f33tz did it with legit timing windows. Chris is the first 100% confirmed quad of v^2.
Knew someone would mention this but happyf33tz' score has enough red flags all over it to call its legitimacy into question, if not outright dismiss it. I spent months analyzing and comparing that video to other dance games videos and there are a lot of things that stand out about it. - Audibly nonsense strats. 16ths are treated as 12ths, the bass rush sounds like it was mashed through with seemingly no understanding of the correct rhythms, the steps coming out of the bass rush are dramatically rushed, the ending is a complete mess, and a decent pile of other isolated steps are very audibly and visually off sync. While it's not unheard of for steps to sound slightly off sync but still come out as valid for a variety of reasons (mainly including hardware error or a dramatically different stepping approach, such as for bracketing), the visuals from the game will still be timed correctly. *Not only did this audio discrepancy on step timing occur at 10-20x the rate as other videos I analyzed, but the visual timing of the judgment flashes on screen also suggested that these notes were NOT hit with correct timing.* - A deliberately obfuscated footcam. Seriously, *why obscure arguably the most important part of a dance games videowith a giant penguin banner?* I am to this day baffled by that no one seemed to find this odd. - Bogus responses to a proof-call. He was asked to provide pictures of his metrics. Something that both he and prior investigators apparently missed was that the pictures included the menu bar, which shows the full file path of the currently opened document. *Upon closer inspection, half of his metrics pictures were from one installation and the other half were from a backup installation.* - Claiming the videos of his Euphoria quad (which he did after V2) were lost when there were changes to Twitch vods. The video had been saved as a highlight and was available for years while I was investigating. The twitch change to vods only affected full-length stream vods without touching highlights. *This suggests he actually deleted them himself. For the record, the Euphoria video (which I had saved locally before it was deleted) exhibits many of the same issues as the V2 video.* A run with this many issues would be rejected in just about any other competitive community, and I'm glad Losermanwins rightfully ignored it.
Im unironically disliking this video. 7 years and Dancerush Stardom doesnt even get a blip in this 20 minute video. This really says alot about what matters and what doesnt in the rhythm game community. It's sad to see how you put effort into this and neglected to put Dancerush Stardom and so many other rhythm games out there.
Unfortunately DRS doesn’t have a presented tracking system for ranking purposes. The game itself is not designed with competitive elements. Scoring systems in competitions, including KAC mainly dependent on judges’ personal evaluations of the contestants improvised dance moves, regardless of the scoring system of the game itself.
There are a ton of hyper competitive rhythm games that he didn't get into and Dancerush is pretty far out on the fringes of what I think would be considered top-ranker culture due to its pretty lax internal scoring system. I think it's kinda petty to announce you're disliking the video just because your pet game wasn't covered but you do you.
