How was the output of this cabinet captured? It's got a circular screen AND other UI elements about the game that are separate from the main screen. Is there a secondary rectangular display somewhere? How was it captured? If anyone has details i'd love to hear it!
The cab is built with a single large vertical monitor, the gameplay window is displayed near the top (that's the part you actually see), but hidden inside the cab there's a space with a lot of metadata about the game. For capturing, you can just split the video/audio outputs to an external computer, if you have the full video output you'll actually see both the gameplay and that metadata section.
the cabinet was built with an HDMI port! the game actually has that information panel you see below the player camera built into the game, it's below the part that gets displayed on the cabinet screen but gets outputted if you plug a cable into the HDMI port
Just commenting to be in the loop because I'm really curious too. My best guess would be a 3rd party component or something similar used to hijack the signal between computer and screen in the cabinet 👀
There's actually a capture mod/daughterboard that you apply to the game itself! Not sure how they caught it live, most of the ones I've seen take a usb stick for video recordings
Heck yeah, I love WACCA. Honestly I would love if gdq did a bloc to showcase rhythm games and shumps/bullet hells. I always love those games and I'm glad rhythm games are getting exposure at GDQ

It actually depends on the arcades I think 🤔 Apparently some arcades provide private servers to save your score (and maybe play the J-Pop / Vocaloid songs as seen in a WACCA tournament with fanmade boss charts)
Anytime I visit a con, I get excited seeing all the cabinets, but then dissapointed by the lines for said cabinets and I'm left wondering how tf anyone gets good at these games. Like where are you playing them??? Arcades just don't exist anymore 😭
They're a bit tricky to come by outside larger cities, sadly, but arcades are definitely still out there! The ZiV arcade locator is a great resource to see if there's rhythm games in your area (edit: aaa youtube didn't show the other reply initially sorry for the repetition)
My local arcade actually has one of these (a bit beat up sadly) running on a local custom server! It's a very fun game, but I'm a bit more partial to maimai and chunithym (which they have both of too)
Washing machine arcade machine XD I used to play Maimai back in the day and play quite a lot of rhythm games on mobile usually. A bummer i didnt get to try Wacca 😢
A lot, actually. Maimai has 8 buttons and a touchscreen, with slide notes across the touchscreen. Maimai dx also has touch screen inputs and touch screen holds. WACCA has a massive touch ring housing 12 panels with 4 rows and 5 columns of individual touch sensors each. Alongside tap, hold, left swipe motions and right swipe motions, there are also up swipe motions and down swipe motions on the panel, since there are multiple rows of sensors. Wacca is not touchscreen, so there are no slides across the screen like maimai has, and no touch notes like maimai dx has.
@@splashyflameyeah on the surface they look similar, but once you get closer look they’re actually quite different. I prefer maimai but I love wacca too
If you want like vibe kind of thing from and intermediate player, aside from maimai having physical buttons and slides across the center touchscreen, to me maimai feels a lot more like punchy dancing, a lot more movement in the upper body, while wacca is more flowy with pretty much all the movement in the hands and arms. Personally I prefer maimai... nothing can beat the feeling of punching the physical buttons imo lol. Wacca is great too though!
I was so excited that I completely forgot to introduce myself and start the countdown 😭 😭 😭

wacca
Ever since my Round 1 shut down, I've missed Wacca the most....
My local arcade actually has one of these (a bit beat up sadly) running on a local custom server! It's a very fun game, but I'm a bit more partial to maimai and chunithym (which they have both of too)
Washing machine arcade machine XD
I used to play Maimai back in the day and play quite a lot of rhythm games on mobile usually.
A bummer i didnt get to try Wacca 😢
my favorite tiktoker, thanks for the run

I thought GDQ did Maimai earlier?

What's the difference between this and Maimai?
This doesn’t have lanes and designated buttons to hit notes like maimai does as you can see.
