  • My quick review of the Zebra Sarasa Dry Gel pen ( amzn.to/2HFLF9M ). I also looked at the Limited Edition Color Sarasa Dry. I looked at both in 0.5mm, but the pen is also sold in a 0.4mm, which I also like a lot.
This pen is designed for no smearing, which means it's a big hit with lefties. That said, I haven't seen that the ink really dries much more quickly then other inks. It's a nice idea, but I'm not sure it really plays out in reality, definitely not to the 85% faster mark that Zebra says.
That said, it's still a nice pen and I really like the look despite the big, clunky clip.

Zebra Sarasa Dry is easily my favorite pen that I have ever used. I use the .4mm but I really wish the ink came in more colors than the classic red, blue, and black. As a lefty, its the only gel pen that wont smear for me.

In America it is rebranded as SE and has many other colors, but it comes in only 0.7 mm

I tried the zebra sarasa mark on pen and they skipped a lot so this video was very helpful for helping me choose if I should get these pens.

Noticed the Bic Gelocity and the Sarasa Gel refills have identical dimensions, refills are interchangeable with either pen body.

I am going to buy a gel pen to use at school. I want one that doesn't smear / smudge much. I have an a pentel energel 0.7mm but it decides to write and stop writing sometimes and to get the ink out I need to write at an angle such leaves a thicker line and ruins the presentation. Does anybody have some recommendations?
Edit: I use the pentel energel permenant now, it skips alot less.

Skipping is due to the refill being very old stock, or a dry tip.

I noticed the same thing, my Sarasa Dry 0.7 is equivalent to my Pilot G2 1.0. They both have such a satisfying thick solid line.

I just received my first Sarasa Dry pen bought on the strength of your reviews. I don't mind the oversized clip because it makes the branding stand out. It's not a brand easily available in Australia so it makes it look unique. The ink dries immediately on most paper but I'm not sure I like the 0.5 line thickness. I'd go so far as saying it looks even thicker than my Jetstream Uniball 1.0 (different ink type). This mean that as a writer, some detail is lost in small print and it looks like I've written with a fineliner. I might buy a 0.4 to see if that's a good compromise. Love the case, the grip feels nice without being squishy. My only annoyance is the small push button and that it's loose when depressed, unlike my jetstream that stays down.

I 100% agree, the biggest issue is with the Zebra sarasa dry is the line thickness, 0.5 writes like s 1.0. I'm waiting on the 0.4 so I'll let you know how that goes.
I've yet to try the pentel energel and pilot G2 (which are highly rated fast drying pens) although the consensus I've found is that the Zebra sarasa dry is the fastest drying gel pen (like bic level drying speeds).
Another recommendation I can make is the Bic Atlantis. It's more of a smooth writing bic pen whereas sarasa dry is a quick drying gel pen.
However it's the smoothest writing biro I've used, it also has a 0.3mm version Bic atlantis exact fine, which is one of my favorite for writing smaller (although the nip wobbles in the tip a bit, which I had to fix with sugru).

That was my biggest concern, as I've seen other reviewers say the same. If you try a 0.4, please let us know how it compares. Also, how does the Uni Jetstream do with smearing?
