20:57 That's Windows CE or Windows Compact Embedded. It's usually used in some gadgets, such as the dreamcast and Otis indicators. It's possible that the indicator program has crashed or the engineer forgot to run it.
I don't like how these sorts of embedded systems are used on what should be real time systems. I hate the modern day attitudes that developers put operating systems on pretty much everything, even very simple things. I would much prefer a lift to run on a real time micro controller than a multitasking microprocessor where the lift logic would be a program running on an operating system - YUK!
Hey beno if you goto the grace church shopping centre at the back near wilko there is a set of 3/4 express lifts but one of them has been modded and the express lifts are switched on but when the button is pressed the light goes out instantly idk what gen they are and the modded one just says out of service and forgot to say that the main car park lifts were some old Otis lifts with a single speed door but sadly both odd and even lifts have been horribly modernised
Vertical Movement Services - couldn't make it u - oh, they did. Plus, those Arthur Daley tripods look well cool. Job lot with the self-cleaning buttons? Winchester Club please, mines a vodka and slim. And hey - who you calling fat. Well out of order! EAT P00 is registered to an Austin Allegro.
Have you ever had a look at some of the tower blocks in Birmingham? Like most cities, many have now been demolished by the council, but there are still some very big and interesting ones left, e.g. the sentinel blocks at Holloway Head, Salisbury and Canterbury towers at Spring Hill.
If you ever managed to do the BT Tower in Birmingham I'd be impressed, I don't think it's used any more, if you got into the basement it would be amazing, not sure how true it is, but there's rumours there's tunnels underneath the city that lead from underneath and it's a restricted area.
Restrictions have eased. There are many places I want to see. I want to complete the rest of the countries in Eastern Europe, return to Ukraine, and go to South Korea.
Does Kone TMS have a lift chime? My school has a Kone TMS with the same buttons but doesn’t have a chime. Also do you know what the difference is between Kone M-Series and TMS?
I have no interest in going to Southampton. From what have heard, everything is baited there due to Ally Law's adventures. Security are super strict. Maybe there are some lift surfs there. But Southampton is quite a long way for me.
@@benolifts try the Trafford Centre in Manchester, its actually massive and quite interesting. Theres kone M-series and shindler M-series and also mitsubishi lifts
I have never seen a macpuarsa running well😂 All lifts i come across are messed up, showing wrong direction or showing the wrong position on the landing displays if they are in a set of two, like the left one is showing the right lifts position and the right one is showing the left one position😂 Also the wrong way around arow coloring is realy a macpuarsa thing, i don't know why they think down needs to be green and up needs to be red

My original city. Great that you did the iconic Rotunda.
I love how green that one lift was.

Android is another example for embedded systems.

The Dreamcast did not have Windows CE built in it was booted of a few game discs, I think I had a Tomb Raider disc that did use it 😀
Yes, I was thinking CE too. Used a lot for embedded systems. Or was.

I lived in Birmingham for 2 years as a missionary for my church. :) So epic that you've been there doing your thing. :)
That stupid lift with the wrong arrows was hilarious 🤣
the windows on the indicator had me laughing....who thought a lift screen needed windows!!!

first lift set is very unusual. what is the circular tower used for? at 17:25 you found a crap lift. a computer driven elevator is cool.

Number going up but the arrow pointing down lol 😛
when do we get to see some more unauthorised key usage? also do you have a key for schindler lifts?
By the way, did Express use solid state logic in 80's and 90's or it was always on relays?
Great vid Beno
Thanks

Most Kone TMS have the classic Kone M chimes, though the hydraulics are more likely to skip it.
M-Seiries is the name of the fixtures. TMS is the name of the logic. Same lift.
This video was uploaded during my birthday heh

Been to Birmingham once and it’s not a bad city. But people say that Birmingham is rubbish and run down.
it was during the 80s and 90s , run down and rubbish is actually an understatement.
although nowadays the foreign population there almost outnumbers the indigenous population
