Where the fuck is White House Down, only showed the action part in the trailer, then we had to sit in boredom at the movie theater demanding for a refund as they talk for 2 hours then the last 10 minutes they fight (which wasn't even good)
I was actually relieved that Sponge Out of Water was mostly the classic flat animation instead of the sellout CGI stuff that the trailer made it out to look like. Turned out to be vintage SpongeBob and I loved it
I worked avoided watching it because i thought the whole movie would be a basic CG film. had they showed it followed the traditional form i would have given it a try.
Winter Phoenix The first movie had quite a good plot, though. Hilarious jokes and humor with great animation. It was the older SpongeBob style that everyone loved. This was with the more "new" SpongeBob comedy that's almost 100% random and makes no sense, also not very funny at all. I mean it's your opinion, of course, but I was just really disappointed with this movie and how the writers made it.

What about Chappie? The trailer makes it look like the movie's gonna be like Robot Pinocchio, but better. Instead, it's mostly just South African Robocop with evil Wolverine thrown in.
Suicide Squad also was misleading. Joker apparently had above 40min of footage which was actually used very little in the movie so it was basically using that character as false advertising.
Bolt. Does anyone remember Bolt? The movie where they throw an apparent dog with superpowers helping his owner on a mission? Yeah, that was for the first 5 minutes when you find out it's a NORMAL DOG THAT CAN ACT, BUT THEY ONLY SHOW THOSE FIRST 5 MINUTES IN THE TRAILER.
Larson Davidson But it wasn't. I remember the ad so much, and they completely ignored the fact it was about a normal dog. Unless we saw different ads, then well...
They all mislead people into thinking that Chief was dead and that Lockes mission in the game was to hunt down and kill chief. It also eluded people to think that Chief and Locke had vendettas against each other like in the double perspective statue trailer which is not at all the case. Lockes mission is really just to find Chief and ask him what's going on, chief barely even knows who Locke is in the game and they only fight once like 4 missions into the game in a cutscene.
Marvel does that so no one can predict the story line. Alien covenant did it with a James Franco scene. Dude was not even in the movie really but a trailer for 5 minutes had him as the main star almost. What about suicide squad? All those joker scenes and nothing!!
Yup. Thats why it got the thumbnail spot (alhough not sure why not on the list). I was so excited to see it because I thought the whole movie would be in the real world, not in Bikini Bottom. At least thats what the trailer made it out to be.
Not a teaser trailer either. Just teaser. A teaser trailer shows content from the actual story/plot. The so called "trailer" you're thinking of is only a teaser *short* (not trailer) meant to give potential viewers a taste of the main films humor.
LittenTheLitKitten __ yes it was good. But they are saying you can't name and show the movie that they are "out of water" for most of the film but it's only 20 minutes
Yah. I'm sure if they were on land most of the time, certain ppl, would like it because it would fit the title (for them) but then ppl like you and me would be upset. It's the whole "you can't please everyone" thing.
@Ped Remember "Out of water" is subjective. To some ppl 20 min means nothing..but for OTHERS they left the water and that's what matters for them. Sometimes I think ppl are too picky.
I'd add Godzilla (2014) to this list. Trailer makes it look like it's all about Godzilla rampaging around but he's almost a background character in the actual film.
Lesia Halaminuki I agree, it made you think they was gonna show how pets are when the owners are gone. The intro shows that, then its just about two dogs getting along.
I'm surprised 'Piglet's Big Movie' wasn't on here. The trailer seriously mislead the film, as I thought I was a journey to find Piglet, not constantly flashbacking.
What the hell? The Cabin in the woods was misleading on purpuse and I was so pleasantly surprised by the end product. If I knew it was satirical, the first 20 minutes of the film would have been a complete missfire.
i guess you guys missed the point of The Cabin in the Woods trailer. It was SUPPOSED to be misleading. It was making fun of the cliches and tropes of every other horror movie. Thats why they made it seem like just another one in the trailer. It was on purpose
***** Yeah that's a good point. At the end of the day, it's just the producers trying to make money from film lovers - whether or not they mislead audiences with trailers.
Yeah man, I totally agree with you. Until I watched the movie months after its theatrical run I popped it in expecting another (for a lack of better words) teens in the cabin in the woods type movie because of the trailer
+Pyschoman Lol ikr Locke n Master chief only fight once. I swear they need a new start which is why Master either needs to die or dwindle off to come back evil.
+Pyschoman Some of the Halo trailers are misleading too, but 5 takes the Grunt Birthday Cake. 2 made it seem like most of the game would take place on earth. 3 made it seem way more emotional for the Marines (the same cannon fodder idiots that blow themselves up and are pretty much guaranteed to get you killed if you let them drive).
The spongebob one was the worse, i was dissapointed when i saw the real movie it was just like the cartoon like 99% of the movie happens in the ocean and is a cartoon
Spongebob movie was fucking dissappointing. It already showed everything on land in the trailer and like 2 seconds of the trailer was underwater. Not only that, it showed stuff in the trailer that wasn't in the movie. Everyone was expecting Slash to be in a scene in the movie (like David Hasselhoff in the first one) but he wasn't there.
+Billy Mays Yeh, I was also super disappointed at the final result of spongebob 2. :C Hopefully the third will be better (yeh, I heard they're working on a third).
I saw the first movie four times or something. Very well done. The second one? My cousin and i watched about 20 minutes or something and then turned it off......
I think cabin in the woods was misleading in purpose i mean the experience would have been less good if we knew that it was going to mock horror movies tropes
+PrimetimeD exactly. All you really needed from the trailer was a black screen with the words, Joss Whedon made this film, its out on this date. That's all I needed to know anyway.
I agree. It's a bit of a lose-lose for the marketing guys, though. Either you blow the surprise by showing the main thing that makes your (deliberately) generic Slasher film stand out, or you keep it under wraps and people maybe don't bother going to see it because it looks generic. Glad I caught it on dvd though. It got a bit daft by the end, but it was pretty cool otherwise.
I would have included Godzilla 2013. It was advertised as a ton of Godzilla and Brian Cranston (to cash in on Breaking Bad's success). Meanwhile, the film mainly revolves around a young actor with not much under his belt looking for his family and two random monsters created for the film. While Heisenberg dies off in the first 20 minutes and Godzilla doesn't "appear" for the last 20 minutes.
The teaser trailer from Frozen where Olaf is trying to get his carrot nose back from Sven should have been on this list. To me that trailer told this plot: A talking snowman that befriends a Reindeer. Not: Queen who has ice powers puts her kingdom into eternal winter and her sister goes to fix it.
Crimson peak trailer mislead me. I thought it was a scary ghost movie. But it ends up being a gothic romantic/mystery film that happens to have ghosts in it
I would say the 2nd Spongebob Movie was BETTER because of it being mostly 2D animation and not the overdone CGI in the real world nonsense. I was happy to see the bulk of the film was not live action stuff.
+VanHarst I don't really care all that much about the suspence of who or what is first place, I like to listen to the commentary so for me it wouldn't really ruin the video anyway
MRxROID there were some warning sines that it wasn't going to be any good. Such as: It's a movie in the DCEU There were clearly too many origins The joker Will Smith being a bad guy Will Smith being too Will Smith
funny enough you were wrong about all the reasons for its problems. There can be good movies in the DCEU, and Suicide Squad's problem was that WB wanted to make it like a Marvel movie instead of a DCEU movie. The origins did not take that much time. People complained that there's not enough Joker, and Will Smith is one of the best parts of the movie.
Screen Junkies saying it's bad does not really matter in the grand scheme of things. What matters is that it created a lot of new fans for DC movies, and financially it's the second best after Wonder Woman.
Yeah, did you hear about the woman that went to Drive thinking it was the next Fast and Furious movie (because of the misleading trailer) and tried to sue the movie for not being what she expected?
maybe Zootopia. I was all set to see a typical below average - average forgettable disney movie(like The Good Dinosaur) and instead saw a fantastic movie with very relevant political allegory.
I don't care what anyone says, the spongebob movie was actually really good. The 2D majority was some of the funniest spongebob content since the first movie
There are, but basically every company across multiple industries do it. Movies, shows, video games, etc. Sometimes it’s kinda beneficial for films and games to not ruin the plot, but I can definitely see what you mean.
exactly! i dont understand why it was on this list, it was advertised as a good movie, it was a good movie and ended up making money as well, a win all around
+Jonathan Garcia The ghosts are not what's evil in the movie (and are barely in the film anyways), and it's hardly a horror flick. That's all I can really say without spoiling the movie.
Anyone looking for a dose of actual reality needs to watch "Blue Valentine" immediately. You will never see a film that depicts a real relationship better than it does. Every detail (from its charming beginnings to its guttural death) is authentic with some great performances to really sell it.
I liked the beginning in that warzone. The rest was boring and just kinda weird. They were barely even out of water which was supposed to be the whole point of the movie. It seemed like Sponge Bob and Plankton were time traveling for almost the whole movie. And don't even get me started on that weird dolphin. WTF was that about. I haven't even scratched the surface of the problems with the movie. The first one was great and funny. The second was plain and boring.

I agree with number one on this list because Adam Sandler sucks so much I hate his movies. I can not even comprehend how people find him funny because how much he sucks.
i loved kingsman, that movie was sick but the cabin in the woods was the most bullshit joke of a horror movie, not spoiling anything but watch towards the end...
+JGameZ have you watched the movie? there are lots of jokes here and there, and a lot of references to other movies. It has its "serious moments" and plot but it's technically satirizing everything related to horror movies
I just love how both funny people and contagion were in the top 10 trailers that ruined the movie for giving away too much of the movie's plot in the trailer and the top 10's of misleading movie trailers for giving the audience the wrong idea about what the movie is about in the trailer.... Just... HOW?!
I personally liked how much the place beyond the pines trailer focused Gosling's act as it made his death so unexpected and left plenty of room for discovery when you actually watched it.
Batman vs superman... a lot of people hate this movie because it's not Batman and superman duking it out the entire time, but it is nearly identical to the comics and I personally like it
I'm just glad they finally started really following the comics in Super Hero movies. Like, Stan Lee already did 50% of the work for them, and it's 100% better than the hollywood changes they end up making, but they feel the need to add their touch to it. It's perfect, back off. Honorable mention goes to Captain America Civil War for their portrayal of a REAL comic book based spiderman.
How do you not get that Cabin in the Woods was intentionally advertised that way because otherwise would have been a massive spoiler. It was brilliant trolling. People would keep saying "Hey you have to see Cabin in the Woods" and people'd be like "it looks stupid and cliche" and you'd just have to convince them without spoiling it.
I honestly thought that Frozen would be on this list, bc in the first traiker it showed a scene that made it look like Elsa was evil, but the scene wasnt even in the movie, and Elsa wasn't evil.
+Kevin Herrera I heard from an inside source that the whole movie centers around that R5 droid that malfunctions at the beginning of A New Hope. He gets repaired and spends the whole movie looking to get revenge on R2-D2 for sabotaging his motivator unit. That new bumbly-bobbly droid from the trailer is only in, like, two scenes before he gets punted into a sarlacc pit.
One of the Roger Ebert quotes I always keep in mind when I watch a trailer - "The trailer is the movie the studio thought they bought." So, a case like Adventureland, the studio thought they got another SuperBad, and made it look that way. That said, my nomination would be Malice... 1993 thriller co-written by Aaron Sorkin. People who didn't even see it may remember it for the Alec Baldwin line, "I am God!" in the trailer. But the trailer was entirely the first half of the movie, because it took such a hard turn that those who put the trailer together probably didn't want to spoil... but in doing so, made the movie look like one thing when it was really another. I'd put it close to Cabin In The Woods... wanting to give the setup, but not ruin the payoff, which unfortunately is where it makes its mark.
+TastySoda I agree. I really liked the story but I would have preferred what they advertised. I assume they mislead us to hide what the story was really about so we would be excited to see that Cortana was involved but I thought the idea of the Locke vs Chief was much better.
on defense for cabin in the woods- had they actually shown how it was satire- it could have ruined the entire movie
+TVT o n s t o r I agree...Kinda hard to advertise the true plot to the movie without spoiling the ridiculous ending.
+Jared Wilkerson ridiculously amazing!!!
What is the ending
Michael Dowdney Go watch the movie, don't let anyone spoil it for you.
Definitely misled me. Halfway through it gets funny as hell
Again, what about "Brave"?
We thought that it was going to be about an independent princess, but it ended up being "Brother Bear" in Scotland.
Ikr!
Benson, why must you complain about everything?
'Cause that's my job
that is so true
And let's not forget Frozen
I know it's pretty obvious but the movie Coraline was so misleading in the trailer to me. It looked fairly innocent with a few 'dark' scenes but my gosh I was not expecting that horror hell as a kid.
I know right. I didn't like it when I was younger because it scared and confused me. but I watch it now and it's so much better than I thought it was.
+Stephanie Hayes
Oh yea. That film was horryfying and disturbing.
The book is a horror hell too...
that movie is the reason i am afraid of the dark
+KarltoonTV i loved coraline
The SpongeBob Out of Water one actually benefitted itself. It was nice to see a 2D movie for the majority, and the out of water parts made a good ending.
+Kyle Williams You're kidding, right? It was like they had two plot lines and mashed them together because they couldn't finish one. The out of water part was clearly tacked on at the very end.
+Syntherus Still a good movie.
DS The final light
Did we even watch the same movie? Watch the first SpongeBob movie and then watch Sponge Out of Water. The quality of the first is light years better than the second.
+Kyle Williams Many times i said to myself "so we're out of animation and gone to CGI? NO THANKS" then untill now, i feel like i would download the movie for once
I agree, though I couldn't really enjoy it since for the whole movie I was wondering when the intro would stop
Avengers age of ultron it made ultron look like a god and he was kind of just a generic robot villain
Banana Joe true
Marley and Me? That was advertised as a fun comedy with a dog determining the plot, but didn't realise it was about family break up, possible divorce, and then death. Albeit fantasic, but YIKES! Those poor kids!
I find a lot of comedies seem to end on a more darker tone
I know the real people who experienced Marley and me, the kids are fine
But it was still a good movie but I agree
I hate that movie. That dog was a pain in the ass and ruined their lives till he died then they tried to make us feel sad about it.
Robert Villarreal I get the feeling you don't like dogs

Where the fuck is White House Down, only showed the action part in the trailer, then we had to sit in boredom at the movie theater demanding for a refund as they talk for 2 hours then the last 10 minutes they fight (which wasn't even good)
+ScrewLuckyBlocks Yeah, why would there be drama in a movie?
Weird.
+ScrewLuckyBlocks Yeah, screw drama and character development! I want mindless action dammit.
I was actually relieved that Sponge Out of Water was mostly the classic flat animation instead of the sellout CGI stuff that the trailer made it out to look like. Turned out to be vintage SpongeBob and I loved it
+tropicAces
Yup.
I worked avoided watching it because i thought the whole movie would be a basic CG film. had they showed it followed the traditional form i would have given it a try.
+tropicAces The animation style didn't help how poor the "plot" was, however.
vintage? as in the first 3 season of spongebob? are the gay shitty seasons that followed?
Winter Phoenix The first movie had quite a good plot, though. Hilarious jokes and humor with great animation. It was the older SpongeBob style that everyone loved. This was with the more "new" SpongeBob comedy that's almost 100% random and makes no sense, also not very funny at all.

Suicide Squad also was misleading. Joker apparently had above 40min of footage which was actually used very little in the movie so it was basically using that character as false advertising.
Kat5uki this video was made before the film came out
Oh, I forgot to look .mb
kinda the only thing thet did in the trailer because the music was in the movie and harley quinn and deadshot got their screen time

What do you mean? The trailer made it very clear that he was just a normal dog being used for a show, it was like 3/4 of the trailer.
Larson Davidson But it wasn't. I remember the ad so much, and they completely ignored the fact it was about a normal dog. Unless we saw different ads, then well...
+Rale I do aswell I thought it was gonna be awesome like a superdog but it ended up being way boring
+Rale Soo True. The movie sucked either way.
+Rale rewatch the trailer. Memories are typically flawed :p But the Hamster made the movie worth it haha
You guys should do top ten misleading video game trailers and put all of the Halo 5 trailers.
what about the halo 5 trailers was so misleading? I havent seen any of them so could you explain?
They all mislead people into thinking that Chief was dead and that Lockes mission in the game was to hunt down and kill chief. It also eluded people to think that Chief and Locke had vendettas against each other like in the double perspective statue trailer which is not at all the case. Lockes mission is really just to find Chief and ask him what's going on, chief barely even knows who Locke is in the game and they only fight once like 4 missions into the game in a cutscene.
+Sergio Reis talk about false advertising
+Sergio Reis Tell me how's that different from other halo games? your argument is invalid sir
VoltaicRogue6 It's still misleading either way. It having a history is no excuse

+Jason Lee The recently one?
the reboot looks absolutely stupid and made the film look horrible

Jason Lee The new fantastic four was shit
Anybody think that Frozen was about a snowman and a
reindeer
yeaaah i did. they tricked me.
It made me think the film would be good but that was one of the dumbest mistakes I made
Same. Now it's #1 on my "Movies that need to burn in hell" list.
^Also the greatest -___-
+Neon_Noobish 515 Just let it go...
How about top 10 scenes in the trailer that don't appear in the movie?
Dana Myles infinity war✋
You readed my mind
Dana Myles Jurassic world fallen kingdom ( it only shows the dinosaur and lion for around 10 seconds )
Marvel does that so no one can predict the story line. Alien covenant did it with a James Franco scene. Dude was not even in the movie really but a trailer for 5 minutes had him as the main star almost. What about suicide squad? All those joker scenes and nothing!!
Nearly all of Fant4stic trailer
Kingsman is my third favourite movie of all time. no joke. I'm 19.
Your name is basically a fan of everything...nuff said
yup
Sure it's MY favourite movie of all time :)
Dude same here AWESOME
We can tell your age by your name😬
Contagion is basically Plague Inc. Evolved: The Movie.
Yea, but it's a great fucking movie, admit it.
JayDay60 yeah I'm not saying it's bad...
Spider Web bro lol
yea that spongebob bullshit. i thought that they were superheros for awhile but for one scene??!! Fuck that
+LoveyDoveyChicken even if I liked the movie, I was disappointed that the CGI scenes were only 20 minutes.
Instead of those awesome superhero scene! We get that incredibly disturbing time machine scene
+LoveyDoveyChicken And they were only "out of water" for the last quarter of the film.
I actually thought I was watching the wrong movie
Yup. Thats why it got the thumbnail spot (alhough not sure why not on the list). I was so excited to see it because I thought the whole movie would be in the real world, not in Bikini Bottom. At least thats what the trailer made it out to be.

GODZILLA should have been no. 1 with mr. White dying so fast

+Adrian Almaguer And because the opposing monsters (the ones godzilla fought) had more screen time than godzilla himself.
+mirko zaja like 20-30
The only reason why I watched the movie was for Bryan Cranston. And once he died in the movie, I was so bored that I fell asleep.
Oh shut up
frozen in the trailers I watched it was only olaf and sphen no princesses
That was not a trailer. That was a teaser short film. Not the same thing at all.
A... teaser trailer...
see
Not a teaser trailer either. Just teaser. A teaser trailer shows content from the actual story/plot. The so called "trailer" you're thinking of is only a teaser *short* (not trailer) meant to give potential viewers a taste of the main films humor.
Hatty Hattington Frozen died like a week after the release. Also battleblock theater is leet brah
tbh, i liked that spongebob was in the water most of the film
LittenTheLitKitten __ yes it was good. But they are saying you can't name and show the movie that they are "out of water" for most of the film but it's only 20 minutes
Pedriasr Psn gameplay if you go back and watch the first episode where he met Sandy and went into her dome, he almost died without water.
LittenTheLitKitten __ yeah the out of the water thing was dumb
We Bought A Zoo. They made it out like it was a comedy but that movie was so sad at some points.
Molly Owen yup
Molly Owen It only got sad when they brang up their mom, and at the end it was sad, but most of it was a feel good movie
@Molly Owen It was more of a drama movie.
I'd add Godzilla (2014) to this list. Trailer makes it look like it's all about Godzilla rampaging around but he's almost a background character in the actual film.
+Mayhemm007 Like most Godzilla movies. You should have expected it.
+Mayhemm007 It's in the first video.
+Mayhemm007 And how Malcom's dad was the main character.
i just want a Godzilla movie wherebhe just fights other monsters all the time
Yeah ikr, like it was based on those two other monsters then Godzilla comes at like the end like what
Am I the only one who also thought the secret life of pets trailer was incredibly misleading??? :\
DancingMonarchs I thought that too
What made it misleading to you?
Yeeees
It really was. It made it seem more like a pet version of Toy Story, and I was so excited.
Man was I disappointed with how crappy and short it was
Lesia Halaminuki I agree, it made you think they was gonna show how pets are when the owners are gone. The intro shows that, then its just about two dogs getting along.
I'm surprised 'Piglet's Big Movie' wasn't on here. The trailer seriously mislead the film, as I thought I was a journey to find Piglet, not constantly flashbacking.
Batman V Superman

Kingsman is legit my favourite film and Colin Firth is my babe
i watched it for like the 10th time last night lol
Kingsman is best man
Bea Beifong-Firth couldn't agree more. Taron is the next big thing!
+MichaelClip thus making it ... misleading.
+Rea84 Was gonna say the same thing
+UpSideFrown but this video seems to be about trailers that were misleading in a bad way
***** Yeah that's a good point.
When I heard the names "Clementine" and "Joel" I just thought of The Walking Dead and The Last of Us
TallMist lol me to
Who didn't
Thank goodness I'm not the only one.
Top 1 misleading game trailers Number 1 Halo 5
+Pyschoman Lol ikr
Locke n Master chief only fight once. I swear they need a new start which is why Master either needs to die or dwindle off to come back evil.
The trailer was about to hunting the truth, the truth was that cortana was the villian the whole time.
Fallout hasn't been playable since 3.
But 4 looks awesome, might pick it up.
How about misleading movie posters or titles?
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones should be on a list for misleading titles.
Deadpool lol
iceteaaddict how
+Valpas Kankaristo They made a Valentine's Day Poster to make it look like a Rom Com rather than an Action Movie
Agreed
+Billy Mays Well they already got Antonio Banderas on it, so it gets a pass.
+Billy Mays Yeh, I was also super disappointed at the final result of spongebob 2. :C Hopefully the third will be better (yeh, I heard they're working on a third).
+Billy Mays that was fucking retarted
+Brace Face Studios dont you dare fucking talk to billy mays that way
9:34 Joel and Clementine. Sounds like the video game mashup I've always wanted
I'm not the only one who thought of that I see
I'd rather have Lee and Ellie
Ellie and Clementine
misleading video game trailers
I8headshots IW. It's actually better than the trailers make it seem
I8headshots I doubt it
Skyrim, the game is better than you expected it to be.
NO MANS SKY
Splatoon trailers: OMG THIS IS SO COOL INK EVERYWHERE. Actual game: getting spawnkilled by Japanese players
The skeleton twins... SANS AND PAPYRUS!!! No I'm just kidding, I hope you get the reference though
Lol
Haha that's what I thought
I get the reference
+Nawat Sankaburanurax I get the reference and it fills me with determination
+Nawat Sankaburanurax Sans is about 3 or 4 years older then Paps... so not twins
Godzilla!
Oh cool, Godzilla vs Bryan Cranston. This is going to be awesome!
Sponge Out of Water was very misleading, because you thought it would be funny, its not, just random bullshit with corny jokes
I saw the first movie four times or something. Very well done. The second one? My cousin and i watched about 20 minutes or something and then turned it off......
It was terrible. I couldn't even watch the whole thing
So... you are saying... Its spongebob
because, you are just saying "Its just Spongebob."
+bawesome8903 spongebob isn't just random shit with corny jokes watch season 1 of spongebob
I think cabin in the woods was misleading in purpose i mean the experience would have been less good if we knew that it was going to mock horror movies tropes
I think Cabin in the Woods was intentionally misleading. Why spoil the twist?
YES! The worst part is it was the only trailer I saw
+Shadow Dancer Same for me too! I didn't see the movie when it came out. I only saw it when commercials for the DVD release came out on TV.
lol
the first spongebob movie was good
the 2nd one was bad and short
Deadninja gaming roblox, vlogs,so much dislikes No it wasn't.
Yooka- well that's like your opinion bro
minecraftmaniac84 No it isn't 90% of his most recent videos feature crainer.
Yooka- I'm not talking about that guy, I'm saying its your opinion of your liked the second spongebob movie
Deadninja gaming roblox, vlogs,so much dislikes its bad like your profile pic
Batman vs. Superman made you think the whole movie would be about those two fighting.
Top 10 watch mojo videos that show watch mojo is running out of ideas
Cecilia M all of them
Basically every RUclips channel and Hollywood lol. Since everything’s been done about 100 times now.
>I'm Clementine
>I'm Joel
You might as well have said
>I'm the Walking Dead
>I'm The Last of Us
I would have 100x more respect for WatchMojo if they'd just fucking put the list in the description. Maybe with timebplugs too.
That would ruin the video.
+dalia rodriguez No one would force you to open the video description
They can just have the list in the far bottom of the description because of mobile viewers
+VanHarst I don't really care all that much about the suspence of who or what is first place, I like to listen to the commentary so for me it wouldn't really ruin the video anyway
+MistuhCoolio I want this too... I always skip movies they mention that I haven't seen, to avoid spoilers...
biggest misleading trailer of all time was suicide squad lmao the comic con original trailer such the fucking opposite
MRxROID there were some warning sines that it wasn't going to be any good. Such as:
It's a movie in the DCEU
There were clearly too many origins
The joker
Will Smith being a bad guy
Will Smith being too Will Smith
+Annoying Nerd
I love how as soon as the movie came out, people were defending it. Screen junkies says its bad, and everyone says its crap.
funny enough you were wrong about all the reasons for its problems.
Drive was a misleading trailer, made it seem like a cliche action film when in reality it was an amazing movie
Yeah, did you hear about the woman that went to Drive thinking it was the next Fast and Furious movie (because of the misleading trailer) and tried to sue the movie for not being what she expected?
Haha yeah, ridiculous
+Jim Halpert THATS WHAT SHE..... Sorry
YES
I had no idea who Ryan Gosling even was and I ended up falling in love with him.
(Because the movie was great not his appearance)
+Jesus Wore Jordans yeah it seems his most known role is the notebook which is a shame as he's actually a very underrated actor
maybe Zootopia. I was all set to see a typical below average - average forgettable disney movie(like The Good Dinosaur) and instead saw a fantastic movie with very relevant political allegory.
10. Brave
9. Brave
8. Brave
7. Brave
6. Brave
5. Brave
4. Brave
3. Brave
2. Brave
1. Brave
HR: Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave and Brave.
Still no Brave?
Exactly. Everyone thought it would recover from Cars 2, but no. It got worse and worse. How did it not make it?
+Crews Owen And years later, Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur.
+Kelvin Kuang hey! Inside Out was a fantastic movie. Good Dinosaur isn't even out yet.
+Crews Owen monsters university is not as bad as people say it is.
Jimmy Hopkins It's actually really good. Not M. Inc. good, but good.
I have an idea, Another Top 10 of Another Top 10s
+Noraa Rendrag yeah!
funny people isn't misleading, it tells you right away what a shit film it will be by showing you adam sandler
I don't care what anyone says, the spongebob movie was actually really good. The 2D majority was some of the funniest spongebob content since the first movie
Didnt the original creator worked in that movie?
(If not, I may need to recheck were I go to read the news)
+VanHarst Yes
this is why I don't trust trailers no more
There should be a law against misleading trailers, it's practically hustling in disguise!
Clickbait except instead of clicking its money.
it's false advertising, and there are laws against it. but money makes laws go away
There are, but basically every company across multiple industries do it. Movies, shows, video games, etc. Sometimes it’s kinda beneficial for films and games to not ruin the plot, but I can definitely see what you mean.
Agreed, Sponge Out of Water is quite misleading. I thought Spongebob and friends will be full 3D CGI this time.
Not having Bridge To Terabithia as number one? You fucked up WatchMojo!
+drthsons Dot they always fuck up :/
***** You're implying kids read the book, I didn't know about it before it came out.
***** Didn't stop it from still tearing my heart out each time I watch it
We read the book and watched the movie in class. It was pretty disappointing.
Bethany Stocker We had stuff like Death of a salesman and Great Gatsby :I
The Joy trailer was super misleading. I had no idea it was about the creator of the wondermop.
wtf Kingsmen wasn't misleading?
Yeah the red band trailer made me watch it
Yeah it was. It looked like it was going to suck but it turned out to be great, in case you're didn't understand.
exactly! i dont understand why it was on this list, it was advertised as a good movie, it was a good movie and ended up making money as well, a win all around
It didn't looked sucked though
sparky10142 OK I was just making sure you heard right. I personally thought I was going to be a spy movie with a kid, based on the trailer.
For the first time....WatchMojo made a list I can actually get behind.
+Ali Al-Methen Fuck you ardhamon5000 :)
Love you Ben.
spongebob sponge out of the water mislead me
ikr
Gone Girl. instead of a cool mystery I got mindfucked into oblivion.
i loved it.
Had me saying I'm never getting married after I saw that movie
The end annoyed me. Chilling but still loved it overall
Crimson peak ..
+Bobobonito God yes that trailer was so misleading!
+MasterStanNL I wanna know how :o
+Jonathan Garcia The ghosts are not what's evil in the movie (and are barely in the film anyways), and it's hardly a horror flick. That's all I can really say without spoiling the movie.
+Jonathan Garcia Exactly what victim of lag said; i felt that the movie was marketed as a ghost movie... while that was totally not the case
+Bobobonito You're absolutely right about that one!! Very disapointing!!
Anyone looking for a dose of actual reality needs to watch "Blue Valentine" immediately.
You will never see a film that depicts a real relationship better than it does.
Every detail (from its charming beginnings to its guttural death) is authentic with some great performances to really sell it.
top ten channels with misleading thumbnails #1 EVERY CHANNEL ON RUclips
I was really disappointed with the new spongebob movie, the first one was great, but this one is shit
ikr, I was honestly surprised when it ended because of how small the scene in the entire trailer was.
+popcorn thief ..b
The beginning was amusing. After that, it became boring and... Well, not spongeboby enough.
The second was plain and boring.
really though it would of turned out good if they made the whole film a chase and discovery to find the pirate guy on land
Next watchmojo video: Another Top 10 Misleading Movie Trailers, Again.

SUCKERPUNCH. God i hated that movie
.
SUCKERPUNCH. God I loved that movie
SUCKERPUNCH god that looks like a nerds friggin lucid dream
SUCKERPUNCH god did that movie want to be a tarentino film so bad.
+Suigod Nino i was really upset to find out they were just dancing
I agree with number one on this list because Adam Sandler sucks so much I hate his movies. I can not even comprehend how people find him funny because how much he sucks.
He used to be funny... He lost his mojo
I'll go now...
Hey Adam Sandler is super funny idk what you talking about.
+Triston Lopez he used to be, now a his comedy I'd super forced
you are absolutely right. now I would rather cut myself than watch anything with him in it.
+Rj Morales You would not, so stop being a little bitch and stfu about your shitty little problem.
i loved kingsman, that movie was sick but the cabin in the woods was the most bullshit joke of a horror movie, not spoiling anything but watch towards the end...
that's cause it wasn't a horror movie, it was a comedy satirizing horror. like scary movie except infinitely better
+Wex your problem is that you see it as an actual horror movie instead of a satire of the horror genre..
+JGameZ have you watched the movie? there are lots of jokes here and there, and a lot of references to other movies. It has its "serious moments" and plot but it's technically satirizing everything related to horror movies
***** well, we all have our own opinions :)
+selene1918 True, but facts state it was an all around good movie xD
I loved Eternal Sunshine. One of the best films I've seen.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengance. That trailer sold me something waaayyy too different to what I saw in the actual movie
Alvin and the Chipmunks the Road Trip trailer misled me.
The road CHIP
Holy False Advertising, Batman!!! :O
I just love how both funny people and contagion were in the top 10 trailers that ruined the movie for giving away too much of the movie's plot in the trailer and the top 10's of misleading movie trailers for giving the audience the wrong idea about what the movie is about in the trailer.... Just... HOW?!
Not a movie, but The Walking Dead trailers have mislead for a few years now.
Yup. The action scenes in the trailer are all the action scenes in the whole show. All the other scenes are just walking and bitching
I thought cabin in the woods was a really cool and original scary movie which is hard to pull off.
I personally liked how much the place beyond the pines trailer focused Gosling's act as it made his death so unexpected and left plenty of room for discovery when you actually watched it.
number 1 now a days would be collateral beauty
give me the spoilers. wat hapened in the movie
André Santos the trailer made the film out to be a happy fairy tale adorable movie when really it was the opposite
+Matt Rodda Dude Im pretty sure Aunt May wasnt hot in the comics........
Then blame Let It Go.
What if the Star Wars trailer is a misleading trailer???
It is. Good cgi means lame movie. You can't lie I'm kind of right about that
+LUIS PEKERSON it wasn't cgi. Most of the movie was made with practical fx. Aliens, ships and rooms are all real not cgi
+J.K. Nicholson lol
+gemofbricks still think that it's gonna be lame
I take back what I said this was actually a pretty good list
8:20 This is LITERALLY UNTIL DAWN
EVFM666 Actually no?.. the movie is nothing like Until Dawn.
EVFM666 its more like the division
Adam Sandler: "I don't know how to fight, I'm a comedian!"
Me: Oh. So you can't do anything then.
Now do one for games. I vote Halo 5 Guardians for nr. 1. Wtf was that?!
It's called marketing.
+EminentLine no its called lying.
Bro halo series have been like that not just halo 5. Stop bitching and enjoy the game
+TastySoda I agree. I really liked the story but I would have preferred what they advertised. I assume they mislead us to hide what the story was really about so we would be excited to see that Cortana was involved but I thought the idea of the Locke vs Chief was much better.
llXFrostBiteXll From the trailer....it looks like its more of a setup for halo 6, hopefully
