I currently don't have a glass tumbler, but I do own a glass grinder. Would the edges of the glass be smooth enough to use? I so want to try this technique.
I just discovered you & have been binge watching! I did notice you've used resin before placing glass AND after. Which do you think is best for a beginner? Love your art!!!!
In this video I put the resin down 1st then the glass on top of it. This was one of my 1st videos. now I usually put the glass down 1st then either pour the resin around it or over top. You can do it any way you like . Some people like the glass to be shiny, I do and that is why I pour the resin over it the resin makes it shiny. Some people like it to be more like true sea glass which is frosted, so they either put the resin down 1st and glass on top or they pour the resin around it. sometimes the glass will move a little and you can use a toothpick to push it back in place. Now as long as you have it on a level flat surface after everything is poured it should not move. Having said that I still think its a good idea to go back and look at the project after about 20 min or so and make sure nothing has shifted. If it has you can still push back with a toothpick. Now this tumbled glass is translucent and when you pour resin over it it becomes more translucent. The lighter the color ( such as a pink) the more translucent it becomes and sometimes if you pour resin over a light pink as opposed to pouring around it, it may be more difficult to see
All different resins I use art resin if I’m working on a canvas and then I usually use let’s resin resin when I’m working with glass on glass and moldS
Yes it is amazing , because now I pay $25 a window at a local store. I did get one at an estate sale last week for $10 so I grabbed it. Yes Sam is my buddy, he's always there.
Nancy from Virginia here i noticed in this vid you Put the resin on first and then put the flowers in on a couple of others you put the glass down and then spoonfed the resin on top of it and I'm wondering your difference in deciding whether to put it on the top of it or underneath it
Well now for the most part I have figured out that I can just keep the glass on and put the resin on top. I decided I like the the glass to be shiny, so you will see in all my newest videos that I put the resin on top.
@@dally4905 In this video I put the resin down 1st then the glass on top of it. This was one of my 1st videos. now I usually put the glass down 1st then either pour the resin around it or over top. All resin will eventually yellow you can do things to slow it down. Any of my resin projects that I have in the house and some are over 3 years old have not yellowed . the 3 I have out side in the florida heat have yellowed.
@@crazyglasslady: So you live in Florida. That is good to know since Florida's heat is an issue. I have used E6000 on many glass projects. After a while it does get brittle (the E6000) and will fall apart. The E6000, it seems, does not yellow from the sun though. I love your project and will definatly try it. Since you are in Florida you should go to the McIntosh Festival. It is a GIANT craft show. The Micanopy Festival is 1 week later. ✌🏻♥️
@@diannenaworensky6698 I do have a dolphin mirror out in the heat that I have glued seaglass to and the silicone that I used has never yellowed Mccanopy is by Gainsvile about 3 hour from me
You could but the only problem is that air that comes out of the blow dryer is so strong it may blow the resin up over the frame or off the canvas also it will blow the glass around even some heat guns are strong i now prefer the kitchen torch. Someone want suggested one of those long lighters that you used to light a grill you can get up at the Dollar tree for $1.25 I’ve not tried it though
@@crazyglasslady Hmmm. That's a thought.I think these are so pretty and my 6 and 2.5 year old granddaughters would love something like this. Any other crafts up your sleeve?
@@dawnfuhrman1516 Well I have done all sorts of crafting all my life. I was involved in Girl scouts for years. Wish I had some grandkids to do crafts with. Right now I am just experimenting with and learning more about all types of glass art. I only suggested the dollar tree lighter if you were trying to think of ways to cut costs otherwise I really like the kitchen torch. I was nervous about it at first but it make things so much easier.
@@crazyglasslady Yes absolutely however what you created is gorgeous. I can't wait to do my windows.. My problem is I agonize over the design for so long it sort of incapacitates me sometimes
I have a question about the resins you use. I am getting ready to do a window and was wondering which has the best UV resistance as I want to put it in my garden where it will be exposed to the elements. With so many products out there it gets rather confusing when you're a beginner. Plus I do not want to use resin over the whole window only where I am using tiles crushed glass and other trinkets so would I use a clear silicone around the edges of the area I want to resin to keep it from flowing onto the rest of the window?
Hi Penny so I have been using the brand called Art resin alot. Honestly if it is going to be outside in the direct sunlight even if it has UV resistance it will yellow over time .I have used a few different resins and I have a video where I tested it in the direct sunlight Art resin and clear cast 7000 yellowed the least After that video ended I put them all back out in the Florida sun for another 3 months ( Direct sunlight ) and they still held up the best but there was some yellowing. the ones I kept inside are fine. I am wondering if you could attach the crushed glass and trinkets another way. The clear silicone you would see if you tried to use as a barrier now you could attach the trinkets with it unless the window could be seen from both sides and may look bad from the back. So if you really want to use resin you may be able to create a barrier with painters tape. To see what I mean look at this video where I used painters tape to divide the water from the sky and keep different color resins seperate I believe I took it off after 2 hours. ruclips.net/video/ThgFF4jPKKI/видео.html So there are a lot of stain glass artists out there who use different glues to attach the stain glass to the glass . I think if I were you I would practice on an old glass picture frame first. I have also used CLEAR SEAL LIQUID NAILS to attach glass to glass and you could not see it behind the glass when it dries. Watch this video from beginning to end where I use liquid nails. At the very end I pull out and old seahorse project where I put silicone behind it and you will see what that looks like also. I also show what the liquid nails looks like behind the glass. ruclips.net/video/Tc46G6lotes/видео.html I hope this helps in you decision. But please practice on a old picture frame first!
@@crazyglasslady Thank you! I use DAP Auto/Marine to adhere glass pieces to my outdoor windows and it has held up with them being in all kinds of weather in PA and has never yellowed. We built a tall covered (roofed) trellis for the window to be hung in which gets more late afternoon sun but is semi shaded most of the day. I have never incorporated crushed glass/small beads and thought resin might be the way to go. I will definitely watch the video and appreciate your feedback!

That was one of my first videos. I was using total boat resin and I thought because it was a low odor resin that it was safe . At that time I knew nothing about VOC's. I have learned alot and changed quite a few thing that I do as far as safety and the order I put the glass on the glass. Learning as I go.
a lot of chalk paints you don't need to prep the surface and they cover well with fewer coats. Also it covers flaws better than other paints. But I Have found ones that don't work that great and others that are great
@@lolodee3528 Yes I feel like a lot of people use chalk paint to farm house and coastal projects and the matte finish is better for that look. You have to be careful with the sealers for chalk paint though because some will leave a shiny finish.

The lighter the color ( such as a pink) the more translucent it becomes and sometimes if you pour resin over a light pink as opposed to pouring around it, it may be more difficult to see
Very pretty!! Great work!!
Thank you! 😊
What resin do you use?
All different resins I use art resin if I’m working on a canvas and then I usually use let’s resin resin when I’m working with glass on glass and moldS
I find it amazing that you found those for that price.
Sam…lol..of course he’s a helper….how could you do what you do without his assistance? 🤓
@@crazyglasslady what keeps thee we glass from moving ? Confused if u are putting it in top

Linda, I found 2 jewelry tumblers on Amazon. One is clear acrylic and they’re long enough to maybe tumble some longer grass pieces.
$99
Ive never heard of jewelry tumblers I will have to look for them. Are they to clean jewelry?
never heard of it just looked it up so that barrel would be perfect. so it looks like it will run just for an hour at a time. I bet that would work.
@@crazyglasslady the bonus being it’s clear so you can see your product tumbling
@@lauriewilson4741 yes very cool i wish they sold the barrel separate it would fit on my MJR tumbler Then I wouldn't have to use such a big barrel for the long satined glass pieces
Does the epoxy yellow after time?
@@diannenaworensky6698 I do have a dolphin mirror out in the heat that I have glued seaglass to and the silicone that I used has never yellowed Mccanopy is by Gainsvile about 3 hour from me
@@crazyglasslady Yes, Micanopy is by Gainesville. McIntosh is one town closer to Ocala
Maybe this is a crazy question but can you use a hair dryer to get the bubbles out? Your work is so pretty and I would love to try this project.

Oh wow you do?
@@pennywilliams1178 You are very welcome and good luck!
Where can I buy the tumbler? My husband wants to order one.
Watch my rock tumbling video it will give you an idea of the size you want then I have links to them all under the description. Here is the video. ruclips.net/video/dMqmKrRgxm4/видео.html
How much would you sell this for?
I’m sorry I have no idea. I do not sell anything but you could probably get an idea by going on Etsy
What is the resin called again?
The resin I used for this is Total Boat resin. The resin I have been using now is the brand name Art resin.
@@crazyglasslady thanks 😀
How do you tumble the glass
In a rock tumbler I have a more recent video that talks about how you tumble glass ruclips.net/video/dMqmKrRgxm4/видео.html
Which rock thumbler do you use?
My first tumbler has been
non stop for 2 years: amzn.to/3B4dDoL
My second tumbler larger I have 2: amzn.to/3eb0pwG
Largest Tumbler amazing: amzn.to/3hCha5G
For the larger pieces that you see in this video i have to use my largest tumbler it is a MJR 40 lb tumbler I have a video out about it.

How did you make oval shapes or different shapes on the glass ?
It is just the way the glass broke up
I have all size pieces and i just fish through them to select the sizes and shapes I want
You shape something of them with glass cutters? What is that tool actually called ? Ty
I see you follow your own safety advice.
That was one of my first videos. I was using total boat resin and I thought because it was a low odor resin that it was safe . At that time I knew nothing about VOC's. I have learned alot and changed quite a few thing that I do as far as safety and the order I put the glass on the glass. Learning as I go.
There’s Sam! (Not Stan 😹)
He likes to get in the action
Why is chalk paint so popular?
a lot of chalk paints you don't need to prep the surface and they cover well with fewer coats. Also it covers flaws better than other paints. But I Have found ones that don't work that great and others that are great
I think it's matte finish is desirable.
@@lolodee3528 Yes I feel like a lot of people use chalk paint to farm house and coastal projects and the matte finish is better for that look. You have to be careful with the sealers for chalk paint though because some will leave a shiny finish.
People are so taltented!
Very nice❤
Thank you!☺
you really cant buy anything that good nice job a lot of 2 part resins seem to yellow and are not crystal clear like what you're using.
So this was about 3 years ago and no yellowing.
