    the hip dac makes all my classical music sound more bearable especially on soprano pieces or violin solos. truly an amazing little device.

    Got one run the sundara through it. Got a balanced cable for the sundara and it completely takes it to another level. I found the clarity and separation between the left and right channel so much better. But yeah great bit of kit.

      @@craiggamble4431 I got the same cable for $47. I mainly got it to get better built cable. I didn’t really notice much difference, but I factored in boost in power and elimination of background noise for slight improvement in sound quality worth the premium especially at that price.

    I have it and love it, the only thing I wish it had better battery life and no loss of channel balance at low volume range which prevents it using with sensitive IEMs. Otherwise it’s great DAC/AMP, it pairs beautifully with my HifiMan Sundara.

    That battery usage when turned off is a real downer for a bag based product. As I would likely charge it and grab the bag on a whim, I'd find that it was always flat when I pulled it out to use it. Deal breaking bummer for me.

    • @AudioFixation
      @AudioFixation  3 года назад

      Yeah it's really annoying and takes a long time to recharge.

    • @TomBabula

      I keep it charged with portable 10,000mA battery when using it at desk but obviously for portable use on the go it’s not viable solution. I just use my sensitive IEM with $9 Apple lightening DAC.

    I've had mine for a couple of days now and I love it. With my Bose in ears I have a hum when I turn on the active noise cancellation on the ear buds. It goes away when I touch the case of the Hip-Dac. I ordered a 3.5mm Ground Loop Noise Isolator that will arrive tomorrow and hopefully fix the problem. If not I may try the ifi Ear Buddy Noise Attenuator you mentioned in the video. Not sure what to do beyond that?

    I had never heard of iFi before this!
    I'd love to see a video about DACs and soundcards meant for your desktop pc. Right now I pass all my audio through my Blue Yeti microphone because the audio quality is just a little better than my motherboard audio, but any time I want to do critical listening I find myself transferring my files over to my DAP to use its better hardware, and I'm sure there's a better way of doing this.

    • @dapperbrick7516
      @dapperbrick7516 3 года назад +3

      Depending on your DAP, you should be able to just plug it into your PC via USB and use it as an external soundcard. In my personal experience, any modern DAP should do this - I've had experience with iBasso, Shanling, FiiO, Questyle, and HiBy DAPs over the past few years. All of them have this feature baked in :)

    Got mine 2 days ago and it sounds fantastic. So sad my iPhone causes interference with it. I have to use it with the iPad. Is there any solution for this problem? Some kind of shielding or something like that? I’ve done my research an this is because of the GSM network here in Germany, no problem with CDMA in America for example.

    Will this amp/dac be enough for the dt770 250 ohm? It can easily drive my 80 ohm 770's, I'm asking because I might have done the wrong choice!
    Btw: should I use high gain on this amp/dac? And maybe I shouldn't use the xbass, thought I think it's barely any punch without it! (With my dt770's) also because the 770's is kind of cold sounding and the ifi hip dac have kind of warm sound. Basically my question is if the hip dac/amp changes the frequency response/sound profile of the headphones? Maybe I should have chosen another amp that doesn't change it? (If it does that is!)
    One more thing. The led of the dac/amp won't change Depending in what file is playing, it's always green!

  • @randyjones6225

    From your video, I would suspect that the battery in your Hip Dac is bad. I'd have sent it back for a replacement, especially if it was going dead, while off, after only 2 days.
