Dude. Judo is BJJ. They don't just practice tossing but after a toss they don't let you go. They go straight into a submission. I know a lot of people don't know that and I think it's because judo judo is really effective like extremely effective so you don't really see that many judo dojos out there because it's not easy to get accepted into it you want to guess why because it's extremely effective and deadly I mean look at it you know people think that BJJ is really effective and this and that but when you have a more complete style and this is where Jiu-Jitsu came from by the way The real judo is basically both it's put your ass on the ground and then submit you and it's over what are you going to do The toss alone will definitely discombobulate you by the time you come to you're tapping out cuz they already grabbed one of your limbs whichever one you give them or whichever one they grab and they don't let go as you can see in that video they instantly go for the arm or the leg or your neck but usually they go for an arm and they have many submissions same as jujitsu the same ones but it's so much more fluid when you first toss them and then go into the submission so that proves that it's more complete basically jujitsu is a Japanese heart but Brazilian jujitsu was basically you know like another person's version of the same art so they just modified it kind of like how Wing Chun has different Masters and they all teach a different style of Wing Jung the same same thing you know same thing with kung fu you know Bruce Lee made his own Jeet kune do style it's his own philosophy That's pretty much what Brazilian jujitsu is to their own philosophy but like all arts you know in the beginning when it's a mysterious it's very effective but once they figure it out you know the UFC's perfect for that like you hardly see BJJ Masters as champions anymore cuz once everybody is at least well introduced to BJJ and how to protect yourself from it it loses all its mystery and it's mystique and therefore it's not that easy to get somebody in the ground and keep them there now especially when you know wrestling is extremely effective against BJJ extremely because if you want to roll on the ground the last person you want to roll on the ground with is a wrestler just like a BJJ once they get a hold of you they're not going to let go and they're better at tossing you around than BJJ cuz BJ's not known for tossing but a judo is so if you ever see a wrestler go against the judo practitioner judo hands down because they're a combination of tossing which is similar to wrestling but better if you ask me of course you know wrestlers always shoot for the legs and so to BGJ practitioners but wrestlers are more effective at it they're much quicker they're stronger and all they need to do really is just grab you after that they'll they'll pick you up and BJJ practitioners aren't really trying to pick you up they're trying to grab you and take you down to the floor That's the only way that they can fight but a judo practitioner he can fight you standing up and he can fight you on the floor and he's more deadly standing up to be honest and they do practice some striking just like a taekwondo it's not just kicks they also have some punches but it's really just mainly about tossing you and they have many different ways of doing that and man they have some sweet some sweet flips man they come out of nowhere dude it's just a beautiful art and it's extremely effective

Any true BJJ black belt is absolutely well versed in Judo takedowns. You won't receive your black belt without that knowledge.
It's just a matter of time spent training one discipline vs the other. The judoka spends a majority of their time on nage waza and ne waza is often secondary (but I feel that's changing now). Whereas the BJJ practitioner focuses on their ground game, with less time spent on takedowns.

I was on the Army Taekwondo team in the early 00s.
We would travel around Korea teaching taekwondo to troops and putting on shows.
In 2005, at Camp Stanley Korea, I met a katusa that was some kind of world champ in judo.
He absolutely destroyed the whole team.
To this day I have never seen someone manhandle grown men like that. It was truly incredible.

@Brian-bc8ds yup just taekwondo. It's required that all soldiers stationed in Korea attempt to earn a belt. Something about an intermingling of cultures. I was super athletic and could do some nifty kicks and tricks so they asked if I was interested.
I had never taken it before. It was an awesome experience spending 8 to 10 hours a day, 5 days a week for a year of my life dedicated to taekwondo.

My judo dojo also taught taekwondo classes. Once you reached a certain rank in either judo or taekwondo, you were allowed to join a Japanese jujitsu class. When the taekwondo people would spar with the judo people during jujitsu class, the judo people would destroy them. Every. Time.

Growing up learning traditional taekwondo, we've always been told, kick hard, kick fast and end the fight. There's no time to fly and jump around like an idiot. Don't ever let anyone grab you and if you see the sky, you're screwed. None of us cared to take the takedowns and locks seriously until we had an open sparring match against judokas. We got the shit knocked out of us hard one of us actually shat when he was slammed. Needless to say, we bucked the hell up after that.
