Probably Houston’s World Series, given that my brother is my family’s biggest baseball fan.
Korea vs spain world cup 2002
Korea vs italia world cup 2002
Mmmmq I’ll u..8)
How did you NOT include the 10 plus years that the *CHEATriots* and *beliCHEAT* were caught cheating MULTIPLE times illegally recording every teams practice where they got away with less than a slap on the wrist as a “punishment?”
@@trumptouchesivanka that part.
"I regret my actions" No you don't, you regret getting caught.
lol duh
The crossroads of athletes and criminals. Are you sorry for what you did or are you sorry you got caught?
What the hell do they say then, I don't regret my actions and hope to cheat as many times as I can?
Or they regret their actions because they got caught
@@musicb5202They shouldn’t say anything, they should just…not cheat in the first place.
I can't believe there was no mention of Antonio Margarita's loaded gloves against Shane Mosley. Cheating in sports is one thing, but cheating in boxing could be fatal!
What about resto
it was vs miguel cotto but yeah that literally a crime . cotto was never the same
Resto was in the 80's
They found it before the fight with Mosley and stopped him from using it. His fight with Cotto is where he actually used them
I'm not a casual sports fan or a die hard sports fan in general. But I do enjoy these types of video thanks watchmojo 😊
Ngl I'm surprised they didn't include the guy who was caught stuffing fish with lead weights in a fishing competition. He literally earned hundreds of thousands of dollars, all through cheating. It was wild.
That video was crazy! I didn't get it at first but someone explained the prize money and boats he won. Damn
Is fishing considered a sport?
@@carrie9533 yes
@@meganbenway6034 ah. I never knew.
WE GOT WEIGHTS IN FISH
People will cheat at anything. So disappointing tbh.
It’s true but when they do cheat, the best that a referee can do is eject them or warn them not to do it again or they get ejected.
I really am enjoying these Per Year videos, you guys should do Best Sporting Moments of Every Year!
Wow I forgot about some of these 🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻
Another great Watchmojo video has made my day, more of their sports is more than welcome to enjoy anytime
For 2002 of the World Cup why did you guys put Rivaldo over South Korea and the referee scandal, what Rivaldo did was idiotic but that doesn’t compare to how the Koreans were allowed to win unfairly to Italy and Spain in the round of 16 and quarter finals respectfully
True
The corrupt Colombian referee. And 2022 the awful refereeing that helped Argentina win
@@gedhoughton9523 It ain’t just the refereeing that made Argentina win, it’s Mbappe learning his lesson here on not to mess around with Messi.
@@schindlerteejay94 ahhh yes, the short guy who practically scored penalties… THAT WEREN’T even penalties 🤿
@@gedhoughton9523 ahhh yes, the goat who wished to win the World Cup, that was clearly years in the making, no matter how bad the refereeing is, he scored penalties. You’re trying to make it sound like the referee rigged the game mate.
Michael Waltrip Racing's scandal in NASCAR in 2013 was a pretty big deal. Surprised it didn't make the list. They intentionally tried to manipulate the outcome of a race to secure a playoff spot for one of their drivers. The team sponsor ended up dropping Waltrip and the team eventually folded a couple of years later.
Mwr had history of cheating
15:53 bro that sigh was straight out of a RUclips apology video
As a Boston sports fan, seeing the Yankees on the cover is so satisfying
How could create a list like this and not mention the FIFA corruption scandal???
The same way Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Games bid isn’t here. Or the 2009 Melbourne Storm salary cap breach. It isn’t cheating. Just corruption.
The FIFA corruption case revolved around the bribing of allocation of host cities for World Cups and other tournaments.
@@kurtbush5096 Very good point. Thank you for correcting me.
All I hear is “I’m sorry I got caught”.
I honestly don’t know. Fully honest, I just watch these videos out of curiosity
What no one said on the deflategate issue, the balls were stored in freezers and used nitrogen in the inflation of the balls.
A science professor showed by bringing the balls out of the freezers, the balls lost pressure due to change of temperature as nitrogen has this characteristic.
I'm not condoning the tampering for any sport from driving to piloting to bowling, hitting, kicking, punching, etc.
But don't forget about the Russian fenced who altered the electronic scoring system built into his rapie.
He would get points for striking his opponents when he hadn't.
I think it's relevant in regards to Lance Armstrong that 20 of the 21 podium finishers in '99 were popped. Doping is so rampant in cycling.
Oh wow..... 😳😳😳😳😳😳
Some of these scandals are just mind-blowing.
Sandals?
I don't know how to play chess. How does one cheat at it?
He had a vibrating butt plug sending him Morse code vibrations by his coach in the stands allegedly
you cant
Through hidden communication to somebody with access to a chess computer. Opponent plays their move, the computer guy plugs in the move, computer spits out best move and the computer guy communicates to his player. I think one of the accusations was a vibrating device in the accused player's shoe.
@@RussellSmith91 wow, a lot of effort just to cheat. Not worth the shame.
@@TheVeyZ Considering there is a lot of money and status in being a grandmaster, people will try their luck. Take the Major Ingram incident from the UK version of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire. Not exactly subtle in his case, but easy money if people are devious enough.
Even if these people had good intentions, I’m glad they got what came to them.
😂 just wait till it happens to you
People with good intentions don't cheat.
@@iamnotanaddict2905 everyone cheat
@@MichaelTerndrup its a domino effect. One person cheats so the other are forced to cheat to compete. But not everyone cheats
What?
2018 I went to artic winter games, and every odd year Russia puts in teams for sports, and that year they decided to send their athletes, I remember we were asking them if they’re still doping lol, and they said a few of their athletes actually had to stay back for that exact reason
"Sports Cheating Scandals" and you put Chess on top lol
In 2002 the most controversial was the match korea vs italia and korea vs spain
“I am 12” comes to mind with the little league story
Mine is the Little League Baseball Scandal, where the kid turned out to be 14 years old.was a huge scandal.
2013 should be spingate in nascar, ended up destroying an entire team and arguably set multiple drivers back years and changed history of the sport
Made an error in judgement......no, bro. You chose to cheat but you got caught.
I didn't know chess was a sport. I always thought it was a board game that requires mental acuity, but not much physicality. I guess I was wrong.
2007 Michael Waltrip, racing NASCAR racing team, found using rocket fuel in cars for qualifying for the Daytona 500
I feel so bad for the little league kid. Not his fault his dad lied
Of course it is. He's old enough to be well aware of the fact he's older than everyone else & cheating.
Uhh... at 14, you know right from wrong. He knew he was punking on younger kids, and was a blatant cheater. They're all garbage.
If only Tom Brady never threw that pick…the DeflateGate bullshit never gets called out to the world.
Thats the reporter Musk oblitarated in the Interview LOL
As a NASCAR fan cheating is encouraged. "If you aint cheatin you aint winnin" junior johnson
So surprised that not a lot NFL players have been popped for juicing.
These grown people..... The people dont want these apologies....
Watchmojo, keep these lists going for years before 2000!!
the most cookie cutter apologies i've ever heard, not a single note of actual remorse in their voice either lol
You forgot to add that basketball game with the sticky ball
Apparently people have not watched the MythBusters baseball episode,
Or knows Newton's Third Law,
Cork makes the bat lighter & absorbs the impact!
I'm soon tired of hearing about Sosa cheating,
He was not!
Any athlete (or human) knows that you train harder than you play,
Hence running with a parachute,
Using corked bats,
Working out,
Throwing a ball 1000 times,
Practicing multiple times everyday,
Running at high altitudes,
Etc.
I love these lists but the wording kind of implies there’s going to be 23 of those for each year 🙃
In all fairness I was around 6"0' when I was 12, only difference is that I didn't lie to make my baseball career better. Instead I quit because I was tired of baseball lol.
As a portuguese it baffles me that Pinto Da Costa is still free ...... And they have the wires of hum admitting .....
Can we get a top 10 jim varney list? Whether its moments or movies?
Love Jim Varney! he does deserve a video!
Exactly rip the legend
They should want pitchers using sticky substances it gives them more control and when 100+ mph balls are being thrown and hitting in heads they should want more control
How is chess a sport here no really
God I hate Cameron Bancroft so much, I have no idea how Steve Smith and David Warner are still playing cricket
I thought the sign stealing was discovered in the wake of the Astros 2019 world series appearance, that's why the Nats changed up their signs.
its not confirmed whether the cheated in 2018 or 19 but they definitely cheated in 17
Jon Jones is the greatest cheater of all time.
And people wonder exactly why I don't care for sports.
Ok so 2 things. 1 Chess is not a sport. 2 how the heck do you cheat at chess anyway. It’s a board game
Umm... Using engines?
and it is a sport
How come 2022 Qatar FIFA World cup didn't make the list? That is the biggest cluster of controversies in the years leading upto it and most of them even took place in the year 2022.
To be fair, some kids grow big. I've seen South and West teams in the LLWS at close to 6 feet. Although, when I asked a physician, he said diet, genetics, and sometime even geographical location can affect someone's development. Why do you think Swiss have 30% larger lungs in their high elevation?
South Korea matchfixing was much worse
I the biggest one here is unquestionably MLB's steroid scandal.
What? No spygate? What about the fish filled with weights this year?
September 2018 - Romano Fenati sacked by his team for pulling Stefano Manzi's brake lever during a Moto2 race in San Marino.
By far the worst and most dangerous act of blatant cheating in a motorsport that I've ever witnessed! 😲😳
The lance armstrong thing was so dumb considering everyonenin that sport cheats 😂
Now I’m sorry Americans but the Super League debacle was a way bigger scandal in 2021 than some baseball shite
Okay how do you cheat in chess? It didn't explain how
2018 was tough as a big fan of cricket and an Aussie. First hearing about I'll be honest didn't expect anything different by Dave Warner. But Smith and Bancroft was disappointing and I think in the end Bancroft got screwed over the most hardly hear about him any more. While those other 2 cheats Smith & Warner still play for Australia
Question: how can you cheat in Cricket?
Wait so Pitchers could put stuff on the ball and it was legal before.
I won't say that Rivaldo actions were fully honest, but you've got to know two things the first one Hakan Soukur is one of the most polemic players ever(trash talker, fouling) the second thing is that Hakan did not handed the ball to Rivaldo he hit Rivaldo with the ball and Rivaldo just amplified Hakan's actions(which is not right but again he just finished what Hakan started it)
Chess over Red Bull’s cheating results? And 2021’s Abu Dhabi GP cheating?
There was no cheating at Abu Dhabi.
Chess is a bored game. Not a sport. Not unless you start reporting on the world's best Monopoly player.
The Black Sox Scandal
Honorable mentions (these happened in 2007):
1. New England Patriots Spygate
2. Marion Jones steroid scandal
One honourable (or in this case, DIShonourable) mention from 2022: Conor Benn tested positive for a women's fertility drug, ahead of his supposed bout against Chris Eubank Jr., resulted in Benn handed back his boxing license. Eubank Jr. later found a new opponent, Liam Smith, to fight in January.
Yeah the scope of the Spygate scandal was massive and has been covered up by both the NFL and sports media.
Another 2007 (dis)honorable mention would be McLaren's Spygate in F1, also known as Stepneygate. McLaren ended up with a 100 MILLION dollar fine, and was nearly kicked out of the championship for 2 years.
@@iceman95540 They were in a sense kicked out of that season. The team was disqualified, so all of their points in the standings didn't count. The drivers kept their points for the driver's championship, though.
Spingate should have been on here
How about in 2002 Winter Olympics with the figure skating pairs when canada should have won gold and the Russian winning then later canada got there medals but Russian kept there medals.
How in the name of God is Jon Jones nowhere on this list?
A cricket scandal is higher up that Russia being ban from the Olympics?
It's not even in the top 5 biggest cricket scandals.
The cricket scandal is an interesting one. Yes, they tried to use sandpaper to alter the ball, but ball altering has been done ever since cricket was invented, and done in many different ways. The use of a foreign substance (sandpaper) to alter the ball is also not new. Players have used fingernails, teeth, bottle cap, zippers, shoe spikes, and other ways over the years, The trio were given the customary one game ban by the governing body of the game, at the time. They were penalized, but it became a huge deal.
The one year ban was given by Cricket Australia, which was incredibly too harsh. The players were crucified by the Australian media, government, public, and the international cricketing public because of it, even though they had only just begun to try it. The hypocrisy of condemning them for this when other past, more egregious cheating overlooked, and forgiven is shameful. There is more to the story that will hopefully come out when the players involved retire and tell more.
Chess was number 1 over all other 22! It's just another example that shows Watch Mojo don't know how to rank anything.
Are you guys daft? It’s not a ranking, it’s just going in chronological order
Can someone explain how he was cheating in chess
Is It Really Hard to Play Fair
*ball hits leg* grabs face *you are off the team for starting drama*
Paralympics are not for individuals with developmental disabilities Team USA Paralympians are wounded warriors for the most part.
Not the only time Brady has cheated personally why I will never consider him the goat bc if you have to cheat to win that's not greatness
This video makes me think some real changes need to be made in pro sports. For instance if a team in the Olympics gets caught cheating in any way then the country should be banned for at least one meeting and have hosting rights stripped for significant amount of time!
Why should other teams, individual, and country be punish because of those teams or individual that wanted to cheat? Unless it's on the scale as what the Russians did then that makes no sense to do any of that.
Deflategate was a joke lol.
The correct answer for 2022 was the FIFA World Cup. Qatar hosted, Messi and Argentina won, Messi's salary paid by Paris St-Germain, owned by Qatari government. Coincidence? Nope.
So the Chess dude was a suspected cheater⁉️
I dig the video but in this case suspicions and accusations are not proof of gilt.🤷🏽♂️
Without proof it’s just defamation.
No Era Penal
I love WM but please it's not that hard to talk about football (soccer) and at least sound like you know what you're talking about...I mean terminology. Why refer to Juventus as a "group who won first-place spots"? They're a team and won two championships. You wouldn't call an MLB or NFL team a "group" lol
JOMBOY!!
MLB hall of fame is a joke anyway.
Every single time someone makes this video that’s the stupid picture they use for the cover of the video like it was such a huge thing like the whole league wasn’t doing the same exact thing give me a break
How about 2022 and the awful refereeing at the World Cup? The Qatari representative said before the tournament, that it would be great if Messi was in the final and won. Look at the Netherlands vs Argentina game. The Dutch had soft fouls conceded and Argentina were really rough in tackles but was blown over. Argentina shouldn’t have gone through.
😮
No lo puedo creer que
Bot spammer loser
Can you do top 10 facts about Marvel's Rom_the_Spaceknight?
Loser
No
IM GONNA GET RACIIIIIST!!!
Deflategate is so overblown.
New England beat Indianapolis by over THIRTY points, the colts would have lost whether the balls were inflated or not.
I will never understand how Athletes think that they can get away with cheating when there are literally 1000s of cameras capturing them at all times.
The 2007 one kinda surprised me. I would've thought that Spygate was the biggest sports scandal of that year
2002 :- south Korea bribing referee and all the fouls they committed were relaxed during knockout stages.
2012 and 2013 IPL match fixing scandal.
Omg...2000-2022.
I immediately felt my age...
And yet Tom Brady continues to cheat and get away with it
Ok how is chess a sport
It says Top 23. How is it top 23 when it’s only 2000 - 2022?
Because 2000 and 2022 both count… you can’t just subtract or you are forgetting a year. Count them out on your fingers like they taught you in kindergarten.
Love how hockey isn't on here
4th line career goon Marty McSorley using an illegal curve hoping to become a goal scoring hero in the Stanley cup playoffs is the only one I can think of.
@@DonMaximo What about when Happy Gilmore took off his skate and stabbed someone with it?
Edit: Though that documentary film was released in 1996, so it wouldn't fit this video's topic.
@@jonmendelson1104 also I wouldn't of called it a cheating scandal. The other guy acting the "victim" took his puck. The majority of us feel Happy was justified in his decision.
@@DonMaximo Then again, there are definitely real scandals in hockey that could fit. Nothing was found, but as a Sharks fan the whole saga of Evander Kane's wife posting that he'd been betting on NHL games (during a contentious divorce and the league couldn't find evidence of it).
The rest aren't cheating situations so they also wouldn't fit the video:
The whole situation with the Blackhawks and Kyle Beach back in 2010 (though the stuff didn't become public until a couple years back).
Todd Bertuzzi on Steve Moore.
4th line career goon Marty McSorley using an illegal curve to take a 2-handed swing at Donald Brashear straight to his temple. He was found guilty of assault with a weapon and was sentenced to 18 months of probation.
Brett Hull's foot being in the crease on the 3OT game winner in the 1999 cup final.
Going to something recent that was within the rules but people thought of it as cheating, the Lightning winning the cup with a roster that was around $18M over the salary cap due to LTIR usage.
You didn't do your research. It's been proven that corked bats don't actually help, but yeah, just go with the shit you read in a headline.
