- I'm happy nobody was hurt! That is something i cannot stress enough. The cars can be replaced but people cannot. Thank you to everyone that stayed and was concerned. Thank you to the professional CHP officers that responded to the scene. Thank you to MrC's Towing. And of course thank you to my friends that always cheer me up after a loss like this. I loved the 720 GTR. I put my heart into that build and I hope its not a total loss. Thanks for all your support DDEFAM. Much Love!

Damon, this video is literally showing people how to handle an accident. You definitely showed compassion and empathy towards the young kid that hit you. When you think about it yelling and fighting doesn’t solve anything. This is why so many people respect you man!

For what he did, yes he handled it well, really well. Better than most would have. But then everyone needs to get out of the road. If everyone is good and safe get back in your vehicles and help keep traffic moving and let the police do their job instead of playing guessing games when you were 15 cars back and just want to be a part of it. If it didn’t involve you and everything is good then don’t make the situation more dangerous.

How a man handles himself in a situation like this says a lot about who he is deep down. I always thought these guys were a bit "loud" - but after seing this I tip my hat to Damon. Even with the adrenaline pumping he kept cool, collected and coherent, and his focus on people not machines. Good on you sir!

@@jennatolls904 exactly, although we don't know the young man's financials so this is purely speculation(but most likely) he doesn't have the insurance limits to cover the repair or totaling cost of the McLaren, meaning the insurance companies will likely go after him for the difference leading to long-standing debt or bankruptcy. This is going to be a very long and very hard lesson for him to recover from.

Rightfully so, car worth more than a house wad totalled due to him, and his car which his parents more than likely paid for.

It’s crazy because this is the second McLaren on RUclips to get wrecked in a month. Hamilton’s Senna was just hit a few weeks ago and now this😢😢😢
As long as the rear subframe is ok it should be an easy repair on paper, it just needs a new bumper, quarter panel and the whole right rear suspension, the custom paint job will be a bitch to redo but it seems to be fixable. It all depends upon whether the insurance company wants to rebuild it or not.

It's ain't easy running this channel. Constant trials and tribulations, hurdles, obstacles, headaches, whatever you wanna call it. I've said by before, I'll say it again: my utmost respect goes to Damon, Dave, everyone part of DDE, especially the families. My heart sank when I saw the thumbnail. DDE took us with them along the 720gtr journey so its hitting hard. But like Damon always says, it's just a car. 💔

I think what happened with the young guy was that the shock of what happened wore off and all of his emotions came out. He's definitely not a malicious guy, just made a mistake and mistakes happen.

@@redstang70 I don't think he was being stupid, it was a blind crest and there was a black car cutting him off from the right side too and he was probably focusing on that car cutting into his lane and not paying attention to the cars braking ahead of him.

@@Gius_13 not true, my insurance didnt go up, i was sitting at a left turn lane waiting for the light and the person turning right at the opposite light hit me head on, while i was still waiting for the light to turn. I asked if it would effect my insurance and they said no since i was not at fault, and it never went up

If we dont know how much property damage liability coverage he had then we dont know anything. What he will get paid for his own vehicle damage (collision) vs someone else’s vehicle damage he caused (property damage liability) are completely different coverages.

I agree with getting a check up if for no other reason everything is on medical record. In my vehicle I got hit crushed and dragged a couple hundred feet up against a concrete highway divider by a tractor trailer auto hauler. When I was finally able to get out of my vehicle I felt basically OK, I went to the hospital by ambulance anyway to be checked. It was 2 days later I was back in emergency in huge pain from the high level of soft tissue damage and whip lash. Wow man. This is an absolute shame. I am glad everybody was okay, but it is still so unfortunate that this happened so soon after getting the car on the road. Hopefully it is not gone for too long and we see it back on the channel again soon.

Important lessons to learn from this video:
Drive responsibly; when you enter a motorway/freeway do not floor the pedal if your car is powerful, anything can come in front of you.
If the person is illegally entering your lane (passing the solid line or passing the box) and comes in front of you, brake carefully (let go of your gas pedal, emergency brake if the person brakes hard) to make space.
Unless the person is lying and attempting fraud, remain calm and be nice.
Always check the person in the accident before checking your car, the person's life can be in serious danger.
Regardless whether the car is repairable or not, always be optimistic and hope it can be repaired.
Damon, you set a great example for everyone. I can’t say how I would react if I were in this situation but this is exactly what I would aspire to be. Glad everyone is safe.
Dude you handled that better than I think I would have... Having my dream car taken from me because of someone else's negligence would have sent me over the edge. Its taken me a long time to get to where I'm at and I get its just material stuff but still... it takes a long time to accumulate what we have.

I'm happy that no one was hurt and it's just a car, but the 720 GTR was definitely the hero car of DDE and it's sad to see it in a state like this. Hope this can be fixed before Gumball 3000 Europe.

Probably couple at most maybe 3 the only thing that will be needed is the price to be sorted so Damon gets paid or if the car is to far gone and is written of but they keep the car due to who they insure with. Gintani will then build gtr 2.0

It’s one thing to act so chill after you’ve had time to cool down but the fact that he immediately acted like that made me an even bigger fan.
What you said about the other driver is very upstanding, strong, and noble. I watch this channel knowing I'll never be able to afford the cars you drive. This young man had a decent car and it was probably a great highlight in his life to be cruising with everyone. But, like NASCAR, Formula one, even not racing, these things can happen. I commend you for this level of understanding and hope that young man rebuilds his car, learns and moves forward. In pilot talk we call it situational awareness. Not blaming the young man is very very honorable. Thanks guys.

Seeing billionaire Mike at the end make that comment at the end sent tears to my eyes, this is such a heartbreak, im glad everyone is okay. Huge respect to Damon for being so calm n humble after, even consoling the guy that crashed into him. Mistakes happen, he was clearly upset, just a huge mistake, live and learn.
