Above LA is a love letter to Los Angeles and showcases my favorite way to view the city - from above. Whether on a rooftop, a hill, or a mountain, getting above the grind of the city allows you to appreciate it in a new way. Once you get even slightly above, the views and sounds begin to change dramatically.
Getting above it all has been instrumental in helping me get to know and appreciate Los Angeles. This piece was produced off and on over the course of two years, and the clips selected for this film are only a small percentage of what I captured during my quest to take in the city from different locations and in new ways. Some of the locations featured are popular and easy to access, others require some searching and hiking, and some are heavily restricted. But I encourage everyone - lifelong Angelenos, transplants, visitors - to hit the trails, drive the mountain roads, find a reason to get on top of a high-rise. From the basin to the valley, this city offers so many opportunities to rise above and look down. Never stop exploring.

I remember when I first got a medical marijuana card in 2007 my friend and I drove to the weed clinics in LA, picked up several strains and then spent the rest of the day slowly driving through the neighborhoods of LA through the hills and valleys eastward along the san gabriel mountains back to the IE. One of the coolest days of my life. We were so stoned by I'll never forget it.

While driving around the city, it doesn't feel like a fantasy, but this video makes LA feel like a fantasy. I always liked looking from the outside in rather than being apart of it.
I was born and raised in here in La so i cant really compare it to other places cuz i haven't been anywhere yet but im so glad to live here its an amazing city

I hear people from L.A. say it's too sunny there. Add in the cost of living, the smog and the traffic and it's easy to see how someone wouldn't like it.
Kev Better-Than-Ever I live here. Cost of living is high in terms of housing, everything else is pretty much US average if you know how to shop. Too sunny? Are they insane? What do they want instead, snow storms? 🤣

I usually like European cities more than North American ones but LA is really an exceptional city. I like New York too but it's too loud and crowded and extroverted for my introvert ass. LA just seems like a place where you could chill and find cool introvert friends like myself. I've never been to it but I would love to go someday

Nina Torees You got it. I moved from Europe to LA many moons ago and still love it in all its glory. I‘m more of an introvert, too, and the Southbay beach cities are perfect for it. Make sure you visit Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes, and Laguna Beach when you‘re here. Also the Observatory at Griffith Park, at sunset to watch all the city lights come on. NYC is okay for a few days but would be hell to live in.
LA is amazing, went for a weekend in January, quickly fell in love with the city, cant wait to go back in a few more months

Paradise. I don't how anyone that lives there can complain about anything, it's perfect.
Cade Del Rey It might seem like paradise but it comes at a price. I know so many people who ditched LA because it’s too hectic and expensive. In fact, I used to live there too. So many people are fleeing California and moving to other states. People in eastern California want out and they even want to declare Independence as a new state.

Me too!I live in Hong Kong and you can buy a massive mansion in LA with the same price as a 1200sq ft apartment on HK.The most expensive apartment costs 15K usd per sq ft!
