For extremely close range engagements, it's good to switch to your auxiliary sight by pressing C. It's situated closer than the gun than the primary sight, so you'll be able to tell if your gun has cleared the berm in front of you-that way you won't send a round into the dirt instead of hitting your target.
Loved the GAS engagements during Table VI. Been Distinguished and my best ever gunnery score was 979/1000. Dropped a partial engagement when my loader had a failure to feed during the Simultaneous engagement.
Fun fact if you have a HOTAS you can bind that to your turret, definitely helps with immersion. I use virtual desktop streamer with my Vr headset so it looks like I’m looking around as well :D

The M60 wasn't even a great tank (I know people will debate this and disagree) but I love the way it looks, it just looks tough and menacing, aesthetically it's one of my favorites.
@@laparca06 Lets be real the m60 was more of a fire support weapon in the gulf war, while M1 did all the anti tank work. In that sense a Panzer 3 or StuG could have done what the m60 did. Now there is the case of the Marine push on the airport where numerous tanks were destroyed including T-72. The M-60, even as old as it was, was significantly more sophisticated in optics, laser rang finding thermals etc. than anything Iraq had. Yet what Iraq had wasn't even in the same ballpark as much older Soviet armor. These export model T-72 had none of the computerization, optics or even armor of modern Russian/Soviet armor. They essentially operated like a Tank right out of WW2, glass optics, manual aiming, in a more modern package with a autoloader. They were better than using a T-34-85 but only just. This led to a overinflated comparison between soviet/Russian armor and American armor superiority. While if Iraq was operating state of the art T-80 or T-72 with all the modern upgrades they would have held a massive advantage over the M-60s. The technology bolted onto the M-60 made all the difference, more than the tank itself. It would have been just as lopsided for instance if Iraq had modernized T-72 and the us was using Vietnam era M60.
That's how I always recommend doing it too. It especially makes sense with the gen 1 thermals here, to get positive ID on the hot spot in day sight before you fire.
Played the original Steel Beasts game alot as a kid. I remember when lasing a target in the M1A1 and the target reticle "drifting" so to speak and then having to "dump" the laze if you missed and the target was moving. Didn't see that here. Also it seems HEAT rounds travel the same speed as Sabot rounds but I could be mistaken. Game looks great though in any case.
you can see the HEAT rounds have to travel way higher and lead a lot further than APFSDS rounds when he was still sniping at the start of the video, look at about 4:53, first round is APFSDS next is HEAT
It seems to me that the vehicles in this game are early 1980s we’re the M-1 had a 105mm instead of a 120mm smooth bore and the Bradley’s look like M-2 basic or maybe an A1. Over all this game gives me some serious flash backs to Reforger.

I disagree that the AI is non threatening. You're only gonna see the best runs Wolfpack has in his videos but if you're playing mission after mission you can quickly get wrecked by enemies in good positions. In particular, playing as the Soviets going against the M2 and M1 combo'd up is practically suicide.
You forget that you can't repair and heal the crew like war thunder. So if you get shot. It's a threatening situation. And the crew can't compensate each other work. If driver dies. He dies. And your tank will be immobilized for the rest of that mission. If loader dies. Your tank can't reload for the rest of the mission. If gunner dies. You can't shoot. If commander die. No one will call out the enemy position.
@Demon im thinking soviet vehicles will have a better dart round that can penetrate abrams more easily. I doubt they have anything with good armor against 105mm
@Demon i dont think T64B is being added, the only T64 currently WIP is the T64A. But yes i agree BMP2 will be very fun and will give bradleys a run for their money.
I feel the one thing this lacks is a driver view. Although a bit limited compared to the turret positions - it would help me keep my bearings, and is important for reference to know if you're hull down or properly cresting a hill.
When I first got the game, I only played the T-55 to get used to the controls, switching over the play the Abrams felt like I got cheat codes. The fire control system is insane, still I love the my T-55.

That little BRDM I think it was at 6:00 while you were "restocking" the main gun, why didn't you light it up with the .50? You were close enough and a M2 would likely have turned it into swiss cheese
It's painful. The older ammo the DDR gets doesn't go through the any part of the M1's front except at very close range, and even shots that do get inside rarely prevent it from shooting back.
Do the T-72's snorkel under water obstacle and BMP's swim across in this game bypassing the M-1's who then have to look for their fuel trucks, fill up and then try and catch them? Or do they always just charge like idiots into the guns in a circle jerk? Operation Bagration 1944 the German Wehrmacht got which Army Group was going to get the summer offensive wrong.
The real drawback of the Russian T72 T80 T90 tanks is gravity, in the sense that the Russian tanks are accurate in the firing of their cannon up to 1000 meters then gravity wins and their firing becomes inaccurate, while the firing of all western tanks is accurate up to 3000 meters having superior technology to Russian tanks, plus many other things including the ability to take shots Western infantry support is also vastly superior to the Russians, having superior armor to that of the Muscovites and having missiles capable of precisely attacking Russian tanks

When you were backing away from the hillside near the beginning after being surprised by the T-55, it seemed as though you really couldn't see very far towards your peripheral. Great game, but It is a pity that the real combined arms combat is not implemented in the game (yet?). For the M1, it’s more likely that not the T-72s will go, but the KA-52s will arrive. In modern combat, it is rare that tanks simply oppose each other, without aviation support. Aircraft/artillery/infantry are controlled by AI and players control tanks. Then the game would be most realistic.
Where's the smoke? When you back away from your hull down firing position with Red tanks in close, POP SMOKE. You can see them and they can't see you. You can get off another shot while moving to your backup position. I can't understand the lack of smoke in the tutorials.

Плюсами западных танков являлись система управления огнем и приборы наблюдения, в остальном танки СССР не хуже. Танки на Украине редко воюют с танками, в основном танки уничтожает либо артиллерия и авиация, либо человек с гранатомётом. Советский танк в этом отношении лучше, во первых он ниже, и соответственно в него тяжелее попасть, во вторых они покрыты динамической защитой, которая действительно спасает от кумулятивных боеприпасов, если же по советскому танку стреляет артиллерия, то опять же шансов больше, по той причине, что броня толще в бортах в несколько раз чем у западных ( на т72 на сколько помню 80мм, на леопарде вроде 20-40мм). А если возвращаться к вопросу кто кого пробьет, то не забывайте про фугасные боеприпасы на танки СССР, им даже леопард пробивать не нужно, попадание снаряда с 5кг взрывчатки с большей долей вероятности выводит танк из строя. Так же основной боеприпас 3БМ42 " манго", должен пробивать леопард в лоб башни, практически куда угодно, но в защиту могу сказать, что и российским танкам будет в таких боях не легко. В целом я считаю, что ничего хорошего западные танки на Украине не ждёт, хотя бы из за логистических проблем, касающихся запчастей и людей кто эти танки будет обслуживать. Возить танки на ремонт в Польшу, довольно долго. А если брать обещанные леопард 1, то это даже не смешно, он и т62м не конкурент. Время покажет
Soviet tank crews aren't trained to fire on the move. Gunner uses the stabilized gun and sight to acquire the target, the driver then short halts for the gunner to fire. Auto reload on the move is not much better than 4 rpm. WP tank gunnery training calls for 30 second engagement sequence, unlike NATO crews, the best of which can get off 10 rpm at close (1000 meter) range targets.
interesting game, like the old M1 Tank Platoon but more user friendly....dude make a Challenger 1 in game or a Chieftain and you get a costumer! (well, put the Leo 1 and Leo 2 too to gain more crowd)
Currently in the game we have the M1 and M1IP we will not see the M1A1 in this theater as it was not available in the fulda gap in 1985 (That's when the game takes place) However once 1.0 is out and they start working another theaters maybe desert Storm or something like that it's very much possible

I would have let that one BRDM go after that sick stunt.
As a gunner on the M1. I would flip from thermal to clear. Find with thermal. Kill on clear. Target cease fire!

We would shoot in both. There was a sweet spot where thermal and clear would both be on but you had to toy around with it to find it.

M1 reticle lead drift and different ammo speeds are indeed simulated in GHPC

Soviet tank crews aren't trained to fire on the move. Gunner uses the stabilized gun and sight to acquire the target, the driver then short halts for the gunner to fire. Auto reload on the move is not much better than 4 rpm. WP tank gunnery training calls for 30 second engagement sequence, unlike NATO crews, the best of which can get off 10 rpm at close (1000 meter) range targets.

interesting game, like the old M1 Tank Platoon but more user friendly....dude make a Challenger 1 in game or a Chieftain and you get a costumer! (well, put the Leo 1 and Leo 2 too to gain more crowd)

It's called the M1IP in game, which seems to be an interim model since it has a 105mm cannon

Currently in the game we have the M1 and M1IP we will not see the M1A1 in this theater as it was not available in the fulda gap in 1985 (That's when the game takes place)
However once 1.0 is out and they start working another theaters maybe desert Storm or something like that it's very much possible
Us older folk remember the tank with the original 105mm along with the M60 -- one upon a time.
