- Lyrics:
We hit the blue fields
In the blue sedan we didn't get much further
Just as the sun was rising in the mist
We were all alone we didn't need much more
So fast this expidition
So vast this heavy load
With a touch of luck and a sense of need
Seeing the guns and their faces
We look around the open shore
Waiting for something
Shoot high break low
Aim high shoot low
Break high let go
Shoot high aim low
This was to be our last ride
With the steel guitar and the love you give me
Underneath the skin a feeling, a breakdown
Well we sat for hours on the crimson sand
Exchanges in the currency of humans bought and sold
And the leaders seem to lose control
Shall we lose ourselves for a reason
Shall we burn ourselves for the answer
Have we found the place that we're looking for
Someone shouted "open the door"
Lookout
Shoot high break low
Aim high shoot low
Feeling of imagination
Break high let go
Shoot high aim low
Shoot high aim low
Nothing you can say
Shoot high let go
Takes me by surprise
Shoot high aim low
Who says's there's got to be a reason
Shoot high let go
Who says there's got to be an answer
We were all alone, we didn't need much more
Shoot high aim low
The sun's so hard on this endless highway
Shoot high let go
Shoot high aim low
I've heard the singers, who sing of love
Shoot high let go
In the blue sedan we never got much further
Shoot high aim low
One of their strongest and most underrated songs. This was one of the best they ever did. It became, in a very short time, one of my all time favorites.
This one's been locked up in the vault 🤘😎
@@dannygarza3272 If James Cameron had kept things cool with artist Roger Dean, this song could have been used as great trailer music for the Avatar sequels.
I think this song is overrated, along with Gates of Delirium.
@@Faltor895we find your complete lack of musical taste and appreciation disturbing.
@@agcatdriver If torturing myself listening to hookless songs and epics with several minutes of clattering wankery is taste and appreciation, I'll be tasteless. Much prefer Love Will Find a Way and Close To The Edge, respectively.
This song is brilliant...I know this album, wasn't recieved as 90125, and it took Yes almost 4 yrs to make it.....I love this record. And this song is a hidden gem
Love the guitar throughout this song. Trevor Rabin such an underappreciated player.
This song could easily be one of the best songs from the 80's. At least is one of my favs from that not so great music era.
This is an incredible song. A true masterpiece by Yes!!!
The year was 1987… Summer of my sophomore year. Flying down the highway in my 1980 Trans Am, T Tops off, my girlfriend in the passenger seat in cutoffs and a tank top, and THIS SONG blasting on the stereo… DAMN, what an incredible time to be young and alive!
Just the fact that this song is being talked about 26+ years after creation tells you how much we need more writing like this. This song is incredible. Alan White is one of the best.
Ditto, now 31 years
Don't know if you had known about this, XYZ was a project that never got off the Ground.
Featuring Jimmy Page, Chris Squire and Alan White

2022 and thank God that we can a place of divine in the music of Yes.
Chris and Alan. RIP. God’s Rhythm Section reunited.
How could anyone not absolutely love this song? Its beyond fantastic!
Correct
This song blew me away the first time I heard it, still does
It just blew me away. My first time. Loved it!
I'm on a journey through Yes' catalog and I'm stuck on this song - it's beautiful. Alan White and Chris Squire, thank you for many years of magic. May you rest in peace.
Beautiful song.. Trevor Rabin's guitar solo takes me to another world!
Love his playing period. Dude jams.
Tony Kaye, for me😊
this has got to be the best YES song ever written. this got me through my exams in 1990 and kept me alive.
I can dig it. It is one of the best songs ever period
one of the best songs from Yes...make the life feels better when you hear it loud!
Still one of the best songs ever produced!
I bought this 'tape' new when it came out. Best part is when you've never heard any of the songs before and something like this hits you. I had to pick my jaw up when it was over.
I bought this album on cassette when it first came out. I was in junior high, at the time and I had the same reaction as you. This song still hits as hard, now, as it did then. Awesome tune.
Same reaction here, I thought for sure it'd be a huge hit at the time.
North of Siberia brought this on vinyl. Still can't quite take in how unbelievable brilliant this album was and still is
like this song too! "the more we liive" on union is awesome too!
I wore that spot out too
Pure magic...
one of the greatest yes songs ever.

😇
Agreed.
mene minnäh theekell v v
One of the best songs ever, period
I've never been drugged, but if I did it I would probably feel the way I feel listening to this song.
juan perez music is a drug. This band is heroin on crack!
I love this comment.......
Been on drugs and understand listening to this album
This song is like a nice ride with opiates..
this is a great example of letting music breathe. you can pick up on the time of the silence as if it was an instrument. Transcendent!!!
Yes, Pink Floyd style somewhat
This Hauting delivery takes me to places unknown. The Dark Beauty is Beckoning.
Too bad we won't ever get any bands like this again. Yes will always be the most unique and incredible musicians for me. The thing they made were not songs, they were experiences
Yes! All the songs now are well.... just songs.. and that is sometimes a generous term.... not experiences
3 notes, 7 minutes of perfection...
"Nothing you can say takes me by surprise"
canadianbacon007 ...fuck yeah!
What is it about this lyric in the song. It struck me like a bolt of lightning and I sing it at the top of my lungs every time I hear it. Xxx
Beautiful, perfect, thanks.., JESUS...
I listened to this tune over and over in my small studio apartment in Albuquerque, New Mexico and pondered the insanity of war. Thanks to Yes for bringing focus to my thoughts.
Such an awesome tune. So well put together musically. great vocals, great guitar. excellent keyboards. I listen to this regularly.
Christmas Day 2020. I was so in the mood to hear this song. It's been a while since I've heard this classic. Loved it since It was released. From the second album of Yes's rebirth in my opinion. Rabins's guitar work is outstanding. Both of his Solos are something else but the first one on soft string classical is awesome. Also love the duet vocals with Jon. A very dreamy trippy classic Yes song!
Thank you David Boswell for introducing me to YES. May you and your brother John, rest in peace.
still loving this album
Best song on the album.
Another amazing song by the great band YES
I have always loved this song
My first "job" in the Army was door gunner. This was always one of my favorite songs for calling up that mood of anticipation, of gliding, floating above the mundane, a prelude to the Gotterdammerung we would inevitably unleash.
Terry, that's interesting. Especially given that the meaning of the song (according to Jon Anderson) is about war; specifically, a future in which mankind will live beyond war. Being in that gunner position, floating, gives you a unique perspective on the song, on war, on life.
I wonder if Seal Team 6 played this classic on their way to get Bin Laden?
I'll bet that was surreal...Thanks for the memory...
There's a particular strain earmarked for you, gl, lol.

TG you made it !!!
Laying on the living room floor listening to this album in 1987 ear goggles on. Some of the best listening ever experienced. Goosebumps
I love to see all the positive comments about this legendary band...all the members included...glad they finally got inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of Fame...it was well and severly OVERDUE!
I love your photograph. That look in your eyes. And you like YES. 😻
@@pornsakpongthong1092 well thankyou very much..I adore YES ..I even have my kids listening to them
Alan White finally learned to play drums. Made the album a classic
with every part of this song i see parts from a lot of ww2 movies i saw and see pictures of soldiers in fear, wanting to go home, chaos all around them. in pain. and i see leaders in stress. i thank all the soldiers that have freed europe from the nazi's

How can any person who loves rock music sit still during this phenomenal song???? I’m air drumming through the entire song😂😂😂

What a brilliant song, and what a brilliant band. YES, forever...
Having seen (much more HEARD every YES) album & concert...you can bet UR last $ these chaps had their creative minds on the pulse...every step of the way.
this song makes me feel so blissful

Always loved this song it is absolutely haunting.
Yes rules.
Beautiful. That bit at the end... OMG
Jon's voice at his best
Some of the finest Prog in the shire.
Whenever I’ve listened to this through the years, it somehow always made me wonder if a new snare skin is needed after every time it’s performed(?) 😊
Wonderful emotion lyrics music
I had almost forgotten about this gem. Takes me back, way back...
head phones god it was great1987
I was 18 graduating from high school let’s not forget the Joshua Tree U2
Try Audio Visions by Kansas! That is great on headphones!
.....and the leaders seem to lose control.... love the inflection Jon puts on that line
1984 Freso, CA what a mind-bending concert. Great brake from the Navy.
1984 Fresno, CA what a mind-bending concert . Good break from the Navy.
😢feel sorry for this generation who missed the incredible music of YES!
Thank God for records eh??!!!
This is one of my top 5 Yes songs. Great music. Great lyrics.
By far my favorite song by this great band. Great vocals, great guitar and totally mesmerizing.
Yes is one of my favourite bands from 1970 onwards..... This piece is one of these highlights.....Great tunes!!!! Every time I play this masterpiece on this channel it gives me the shivers.
I've been in love with Jon Anderson for the last 50 years😊
OH COME ON!!!!! I was listening to Yes 40 years ago and I didn't hear this until today?!
thanks, i am 57 seen them, and so many other great bands in my days!!!! your videos are the best!!!!!
although it didn't take a few listens, i fully agree with you my friend @ thundered...this is one of my favorites ever....let's all give praise to Trevor Rabin.......amen!!!
Back in the 80's I watched a beautiful sunset, while listening to this beautiful song!💖💞🙏 EPIC!💞💞
This is one of my absolute favorites!
I've recently revisited Big Generator, and really enjoyed it. It's far better than I remember it. It was very much overshadowed by it's big selling predecessor. This is the best song from the album IMO. Andersons voice sounds beautiful too. Overall, the Rabin era was excellent.
Just great. Chris Squire dropping some mad bass lines down.....RIP
He lived close here in Washington State.
Always senses Chris' ego...but what a bassist. I cried when he died😢 This is always one of my First bands...and Trevors guitar is beautiful....
Excelent duet of Anderson and Rabin. Great song!!!
I have no words to express about this unbelievable song is just perfect in all the ways wooow jeeezzz !!!!
Martin Lopez ...food for my soul.
This song is so pretty it hurts.
An absolute masterpiece, if you love rock music and dislike this then you need therapy.
Timeless....
Master piece sit in the dark with surround sound cranked unreal.
Hello all, I'm new to 'yes' and have come here after falling down a you tube wormhole mostly driven by my love for porcupine tree 'anesthetize' and also bass playing by Nick Beggs.... I'm loving this! Where should I go next? ❤️🎸🎧
My fav song from this album, just an adrenaline rush.
One thing I'll say, as a lifelong yes fan, and a long life God bless, take a listen if you can to the concert at Jersey City NJ during the 70's. Some of the most amazing music ever even if Pat Moraz was on keyboards. Excellent.
Popped into my head while in the bath, for no reason. “Feeling of imagination” sums up a lot of what I want from Art
I brought this album back in high school this album is best in my book yes forever...
My favorite Trevor Rabin era track
We finally hear one of the new songs from ARW. And when they tour again in 2019, and come to philly - I want to see:
- Lee Pomeroy back with the band after touring with ELO.
-new music incl. Fragile.
-and other classics incl shoot high aim low. Trevor Rabin was intending to perform it- now more than ever!
The last essential Yes track. Jon Anderson excels. Anthem !
"Last"?
No Endless Dream? No Mind Drive? I Am Waiting? That, That Is? If Only You Knew?
They've got a lot of great stuff after BG
"And the spirit of God moved upon the waters"
i love this song...fantasic!!!!!!!!!!!!
That plaintive cry at 4:34 is one of the most brilliant things I've heard in a rock song.
Im listening in 2021, 37 now, used to fly with this tape and Union when i was 7 or 8 while my mom was jogging around the house, this band is amazing.
Great 87's Yes song!!!!!
David, I am so happy to see you back, and you're stunning visual artistry & realizations of Yes's & other artists' music..starting with my very favorite one by you. This visual portrait, for me, is my favorite imagining of "Shoot High Aim Low"..so ethereal, meaningful, full of emotional depth and just breathtaking.
A happy person does not wage wars. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo makes all people happy ☺️🙏☀️🍀
Love this song, very 'moody' for lack of a better word.
THE GREATEST BAND EVAH!!!! Even when the Buggles infiltrated...
LOVED this record, song...
traveling to another world
A soft kiss from her mother was so wonderful to the father of the young boy who had a baby bird in his head.
Actual REAL musicians
Probably the best song on the album from a 'Yes' standpoint.

god i miss that it was great that year lost in history 😢 for gotting
Shoot high aim low baby
When real musicians ruled the radio!! So glad Yes finally got into Hall of fame .
For some reason, years and years later after a lot of life has absorbed, the song takes me to the scene in Saving Private Ryan. . . when American troops approached, (and with brutal, catastrophic losses) attempted to and did ascend, Normandy Beach. . .WWII
